A Tale of Two Sisters
I was added by a tale of two sisters account on myspace a day ago, & I've been wondering... What is A tale of Two sisters? http://www.mandiapple.com/snowblood/ataleoftwosisters.htm This movie seems interesting. Looks like it might be as rocking as Audition. (Or even better.) Speaking of Korean movies, here's a link to the live action Dragon Ball movie http://blog.livedoor.jp/textsite/archives/50172112.html

Tale of Two Sisters in one of the finest movies I've seen from South Korea. I don't know how much more I can tell you but to seek it out and see it for yourself. IMO, it is better than Audition, but in Japan, viciousness is portrayed viciously, and in S. Korea, things get a little more balanced and emotional in general (more sugar). I personally prefer Japanese raw acid, but I'll make an exception in the case of this film. Everything seems so well constructed... It deals with MPD, so I guess you'll get a kick out of it once you figure it out. It has a lot to do with killer7, in this regard. Ghosts vs, Psychic/Mental disorders. What is which? You get a big twist halfway through the movie, then things get really fucked up, then another twist, then another twist, and finally, a final twist. I'm not making this up, I actually counted the twists by head. I think you'll dig it a lot. Not to mention, the film is beautifully shot, directed and acted. I developed a crush on the older sister, as well. She reminds me of someone I knew... *sigh* fuck whatever. I does feature a lot of angst, but at least is well acted. In a lot of Japanese movies they cast girls based on their looks, regardless of any acting ability. You don't get that here. Acting is top notch. It's also difficult to grasp what just happened at first, just like Mulholland Drive. You'll have to rewatch it and piece things together. When you finally do figure it out you'll say to yourself "this <character> is seriously messed up!" when you watch it again. Highly recommended.

I personally prefer Japanese raw acid, but I'll make an exception in the case of this film. Everything seems so well constructed... Same here. I remember making a similar statement awhile back in one of these movie threads about how I prefer "Japanese over the top psychopathic craziness" over "Korean brand over the top Lifetime tv melodrama". I could never get into most Korean made media, simply because everything they do is goddamn over melodramatic, emotional & cheesy. There's always some random fucka who dies of sickness. There's always a love struck couple who kiss & caress each other in the rain. There's always a girl who's the sister of a big time gangster who doesn't approve of her new boyfriend, etc. There's always a 15 min. scene where the cast mourns over the loss of their loved ones & tragedies. (If you thought the ham in the Metal Gear Solid series was bad, than you'll might possibly have a heart attack when you see how hammy a lot of K-entertainment is.) For some reason though "A Tale of Two sisters" struck a chord with me. A Tale of Two sisters myspace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=256361895 It actually looks original. Most Korean made entertainment comes off like second rate hand me downs from the United States & Japan. (Even Old Boy was just an adaption of a Japanese manga as evidenced by it's brutal viciousness & whacked out plot.) The music, the photography. Most of all that creepy ass background picture. Everything just blends in together so well. I think you'll dig it a lot. Not to mention, the film is beautifully shot, directed and acted. I developed a crush on the older sister, as well. She reminds me of someone I knew... *sigh* fuck whatever. I used to have a crush on Yukie Nakama, because she sorta looked liked an ex. (Yukie has a slightly prettier face, but the girl I knew had curves & a better body.) I don't anymore though. Moved on, it was my fault anyway, lol. I can believe that the film is beautifully shot. The scenery reminds moi of how well put together "Flower, Sun, & Rain" was. In a lot of Japanese movies they cast girls based on their looks, regardless of any acting ability. You don't get that here. Acting is top notch. Your right on the money with that comment. (Most movies hire bikini models for the starring roles.) There's a scarcely small amount of actresses in Japan who can actually act. The only ones with any range that I've seen is Kou Shibasaki, Chiaki Kuriyama & Yukie Nakama. They have almost as much range as Johnny Depp. (but not quite, since barely anybody has as much range as he does.) Miho Nakayama is also pretty good, but she's not in the same league as her younger contemporaries, because she's usually typecast as the hot "Maya Amano" type who everybody has a crush on. Although she plays the part well if I may add. (I strongly suspect that Atlus actually modeled Maya Amano after Nakayama, because they look & act way too much alike.) It's also difficult to grasp what just happened at first, just like Mulholland Drive. You'll have to rewatch it and piece things together. When you finally do figure it out you'll say to yourself "this <character> is seriously messed up!" when you watch it again. Highly recommended. This movie sounds like a winner. Most of all it seems to be very hard to describe & define. Like Suda 51's "Flower, Sun, & Rain" (Which is a -*test*-('")ament to "Two sister's" originality.)

As a matter of fact, Bollywood has a remake of Oldboy. Official site is down, but here are a couple of links to saciate your need of ZINDA info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488906/ http://twitchfilm.net/archives/004169.html I don't know if you've heard of "Happiness of the Katakuris" by Takashi Miike, but that movie is actually a remake (remake-spoof) of one of the movies from the director of Tale of Two Sisters. I also prefer TTS to Oldboy, although I digged Oldboy a lot. It's just that things can get predictable and unbelievable in terms of emotional flow in the case of Oldboy. But I still think, TTS is of a higher caliber. Yukie Nakama is a looker, but I still have only seen one movie where she starred in, Ring 0. Other than that, tons of bikini photos. Kou Shibasaki, I don't really like her for some reason. She was great in Battle Royale, though. Chiaki Kuriyama is a better actress than Kou, IMO, but her feet are fucking huge. LOL. Nevertheless, she's great.

She was great in Battle Royale, though. Chiaki Kuriyama is a better actress than Kou, IMO, but her feet are fucking huge. LOL. Nevertheless, she's great. Most of those Yukie bikini pics are old as hell. (Plus she's flat & has no body. Put some clothes on & eat a damn cheeseburger.) Most Japanese female celebrities had to begin their careers as bikini models. Before they could even pursue acting or singing. (Ayumi Hamasaki, Eiko Koike, Yukie Nakama, Kyoko Fukada, etc. The only one who's actually talented is Nakama, lol.) Yukie is hot & all, but she's a lot like the singer Tsubaki. I'm far more interested in her work than I am with her looks. When it comes to Japanese actresses that are just drop dead gorgeous... (That you'd want to fuck em up the ass, suck theire tits & choke 'em with your sausage.) Norika Fujiwara she has curves. http://www.norikanesque.com/ http://www.google.com/search?q=norika+fujiwara&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rls=DVFA,DVFA:1970--2,DVFA:en (IMO, Fujiwara is the real life version of Lupin the 3rd's Fujiko.) I remember standing next to a cardboard cut out of Fujiwara once, & I was shocked to find out tall she actually is. I usually tower over J-chicks. (Fujiwara is 5'9. She seems to have shrank since then though. Now she's reported to be 5'7. Most J-chicks rarely ever stand above 5'2.) I didn't like the Ring 0, but I don't like the Ring period, so heh heh. (I actually wasted my money on the American remake "The Ring Two" I have no idea what the hell I was thinking, because I ended up hating that more than the Japanese movies.) When I first saw Yuki Nakama. She was playing the part of some rich bitch in this weird ass late night drama. That seemed to be the Japanese equivalent of Weird Science. The next time I saw Nakama. She was playing the part of a demure housewife chick in a show starring one of the Kinki Kids. Back in the day she played a shit load of roles. She didn't finally get popular until she played the role as a daughter of a gangster in Gokusen. She also rose to fame with TRICK 2, TRICK 3 & that lame ass Shinobi movie. (Although she did get noticed before that with The Ring 0, & the original Trick series.) I think Yukie's best performances were in FACE http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/aid-731/section-music/code-j/version-all/pid-1001806884/ (A drama where she plays the role of a girlfriend to a guy with a Jeckel & Hyde complex.) , The entire Trick series plus the movie, Both Gokusen's, & a shitty movie called Money. (She was the only decent thing about the film.) Kou doesn't seem that bad to me. She at least has the ability to play a different character. Whereas most Japanese women only know how to play "the bumbling idiot, who's hot role." The MAYA AMANO stereotype, lol. To think, Maya Amano is my favorite video game character. Yet I never noticed that she's actually a satire of most Japanese women. Kou looks angry enough to gut & eat you in this pic. Which is a look that most Japanese girls can't pull off. (Because a shit load of them have way too much air in their heads.) That guy is just some random schmuck she's co starring with in her la-*test*-('") drama, or what not. I don't know. I don't keep track of J-entertainment anymore. (That mothafucka has no chin. Even Fujiwara has a stronger jaw line than him, & she's a fine ass woman. Yet she's far more manlier than he is, lol.) Never seen much of Chiaki's work. What she does have over most Japanese women is screen presence. It makes her look un Japanese, because she stands out so much. (Most J-chicks are just trophy women with zero personalty.) If you think her feet are bad, I think her crooked ass witch nose is even worse. I think Uno Kanda is also a pretty good actress, but she doesn't get noticed much. I wonder why? I think she's badass. (That's prolly the reason why she doesn't get noticed. She has a personality.) http://www.spacecraft.co.jp/uno/ http://www.japansugoi.com/wordpress/kanda-uno-celebrity-videos/ I used to call her the Filipino girl, because she's tanned like a Filipina woman. (Although her tan is probably fake.) This might sound stereotypical, but Kyouki. (The chick from Last Samurai.) I originally saw her in IWGP (A drama about street gangs) Which ironically also had Ken Watanabe in it. She's pretty believable in every show I've seen her in. (the only other show I've seen with Kyouki in it. Was this drama that revolved around chef/cake making. It was some gay ass yoai like shit.) Granted Kyouki is much like Miho Nakayama & she also typically gets type casted. (Even in Last Samurai, lol.) That's almost Bollywood. As a matter of fact, Bollywood has a remake of Oldboy. Official site is down, but here are a couple of links to saciate your need of ZINDA info: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488906/ http://twitchfilm.net/archives/004169.html Didn't they get sued for plagiarism? I remember hearing about this movie before, & the only reason was because it was an Old Boy knock off. I don't know if you've heard of "Happiness of the Katakuris" by Takashi Miike, but that movie is actually a remake (remake-spoof) of one of the movies from the director of Tale of Two Sisters. I've heard of it. Never knew it was a remake though. As surprising as this may sound. I''m not much of a Miike fan. Half of his movies bore me to death. I don't know why either. I'd be thinking that any movie with shit loads of gore & crazy ass psychopaths would pique my interests, but I always end up getting bored out of my mind. (Especially with Ichi the Killer. It's almost exactly like the manga, but I actually like the manga. Can;t get into the movie for some reason.) Which is why I think it's weird how the one movie that I do like from him. Happens to be Audition. (It's the way it's slowly paced that draws moi to the film.) I'm more into Ryuhei Kitamura who makes a lot of dumbass bullshit. However, his bullshit is extremely badass & entertaining.

Taleofsisters is one film i took inspiratrion for my 1st telefilm. Excellent movie. i wonder why hollywood hasnt picked this up for remake.I liked it more than audition. That zinda is bollywood ripoff of oldboy. They just copypasted scenes and that why koreans sued them. But bollywood lobby is very storng, you cant touch them. believe it or not but 80% of bollywood movies are copypaste material of foreign films. derailed, unfaithful, hitch, outoftime ,heck they even recently copied bittersweet life. That guy who ripped off oldboy also ripped of uturn and reservoir dogs before. upitll now bollywood had made 2 badass films that can easily win oscar, but not hyped coz idian people r shitminded. these 2 films are blackfriday and jhonnyghaddar must see!

I'm more into Ryuhei Kitamura who makes a lot of dumbass bullshit. However, his bullshit is extremely badass & entertaining. AMEN BROTHER! Haha! They were actually selling this movie at an out of town Wal-Mart around here a while back. It looked cool and was only 10 bucks so I was GOING to get it, but they've obviously gotten rid of it now. :( Otherwise I'd get it.

Kitano Smith- 11-19-2007

i wonder why hollywood hasnt picked this up for remake. It has. It's set for a 2008 release. All the more reason for those who didn't watch it, to watch it now. Although, I think it's extremely difficult to surpass the original in this case. The film is just perfect. Hollywood won't make a remake, they'll make an interpretation for dumbasses. I dont' like to eat regurgitated food, for once, so I'll pass it up.
