Anime now-a-days. This was probably already discussed. But have you noticed that anime now is often too repetitive? And now, it's the short lived ones that's actually worth watching?
The only superlong and popular anime that's even worth watching is One Piece, and everything else is just shit.
Although, Conan isn't too bad either and it's long as hell!
Is Naruto still going?! God, it's still terrible, the only real character worth watching is Rock Lee and the show's still not worth the effort! I loved the Zabuza arc, but that's the only good part of the WHOLE ENTIRE SERIES! I once read the manga and actually found it decent. But now it's a pain in the ASS!
I remember when I could watch anime on Toonami and actually enjoy it. Now, I stay away from the TV set. I still remember watching Yu Yu Hakusho all the time. That is still my favorite show. Whoever took it off the air and placed it on 5:00 in the moring is an ass!
Did anyone else actually enjoy Zoids? Cause I sure as hell did, What about Samurai Champloo? Or Paranoia Agent?
As far as I can tell, anime has really took a turning point, into hell. It's so shitty now, that I stopped being an Otaku a LONG time ago. Now I'm just the Animes that I love and will probably will stick with those until they end, fangirl

Yeah, Rock Lee definitely steals the spotlight from the show, and im not even interested in watching this anime.
Actually, I dont watch anime that much, if any at all (too lazy to download+crappy animes on TV)
Old animes seemed much more entertaining: Mazinger, Knights of the Zodiac, Yu-Yu Hakusho and others.
But you are right on everything, new anime is all the same with easy going gifted boy, emo hardass and token girl; only short anime looks more promising; new thing that hooked me was Basilisk.
On the other hand, give me good (not sick) hentai anyday *still waiting for licensed version of Sora no Iro, Mizu no Iro*
ConSmithsAngel- 09-27-2008
I agree on the hentai, the fetishes they have are disturbing.
Yeah, there's also those annoying moè animes like Lucky Star and Haruhi. My God the animation is annoying and the need to add Otaku humor in there is ridiculous! I honestly can't stand it.
Also, newer anime has the need for angst to be thrown into the formula.

Re: Anime now-a-days. The only superlong and popular anime that's even worth watching is One Piece, and everything else is just shit.
Agree. One piece is the only one long series that I like, because it's fun, original, with a lot of action and not ass pretentious like oh say for example naruto. (I never watched the anime tought, I only read the manga)
Although, Conan isn't too bad either and it's long as hell!
I agree (2)

I agree (3). The manga sucks too, anyway. It started well IMHO, but it trashed good characters to turn the spotlight on sasukemo and they're killing a major character every volume just to keep high the intrest.
(Orochimaru was a good baddy IMHO. His battles rocked. He killed an hokage, but not in a badass or cheap way like every character does now, he worked hard on it. It's a shame that his whole porpouse was just to train sasuke to make him more emo and badass and invicncible than before.)

I liked yu yu hakusho too. When I was a child I was always dissing dragonball saying that yu yu was better, lol
Did anyone else actually enjoy Zoids? Cause I sure as hell did, What about Samurai Champloo? Or Paranoia Agent?
I watched only samurai champloo of this three and I liked it more than cowboy bebop. Then I was bashed from ten million billions fanboys around the world.
ConSmithsAngel- 09-27-2008
I hated Cowboy Bebop. I just couldn't stand it.
ferlanga- 09-27-2008
Gantz anime could have end pretty good if they actually followed the manga.
Too bad theres no subtitled version of the Kinnikuman show, I would love to watch that.
About hentai: I tought tentacles was as far as they could go, but then I knew of hentais with girls eating crap and such. Lol it was a surprise in Nurse Me that a chick couldnt reach the bathroom in time. Instant delete.
Kroni- 09-27-2008
I am a fan of very few animu. Blame it on stupid fucking moé/pedo/cutesy shit seeping in to everything and making it suck.
A good example is the DMC anime, it could have been good had it not had some damn loli (and decent fight scenes).
Manga is the way to go imo, you can still find good stuff for that.
Golgo 13 is the only series I'm really following in Japan, Blassreiter was good and went to suckage when it turned in to Voltron and Code Gayass+Macross are only mildly entertaining. Moribito I just watch when a good fight scene is on.
PhasE- 09-28-2008
Good animation is what I usually look for. So I tend to like OVAs and movies.
I really like Naruto at the moment, even though the story is second rate containing loadsa crappy scenes, the animation is consistent and really well done, even in the crappy scenes. I haven't been following anime series very closely other than Bleach and Naruto.
@Ferlanga: hentai can get worse than that!!! Wait till you see... nevermind
ferlanga- 09-28-2008
@Phase: I know, theres also monster rape, animals, futarani (bearable if theres little and the OVA is really good), pedo (actual loli nowadays), pregnant sex, maybe mutilation, torture (like sirynges on breasts), Yaoi, and most importantly horrible animation.
But seriously, do tell me what you are reefering to, I cant imagine how lower they can drop.
Despite what I said on my post above, the rest of Nurse Me seemed to be awesome (still deleted it, cant allow even one scene like that), but the worst thing I ever saw and never want to see again is Project Boobs: (surgical futarani +rapist dog +bad animation+pregnant girl being used for harvesting organs, tough you just see her pregnant, nothing more).
Must I say it was really late on the night and I almost fainted by the disgust caused by that crap.
It really sad some normal hentai has averge animation (and 1/2 episodes) while the rest has 10/10 animation.
ConSmithsAngel- 09-29-2008
Yeah, it's twisted alright. What the fuck kinds of fetishes exist over in Japan?!
PhasE- 09-29-2008
@Ferlanga: Wow, you have some experience alright. You must see Pigeon Blood, weird stuff, someone with 2 penis and 2 vagina, one of the vaginas for the mouth. I was disturbed.
Then there's Urotsukidoji, which is a little too old to be taken seriously.
Xed- 09-29-2008
You screwed my life by talking of that hentais. I'll never sleep again.
ferlanga- 09-29-2008
Ye, surprising how man+woman hentai is scarce compared to all those sick stuff.
someone with 2 penis and 2 vagina, one of the vaginas for the mouth. I was disturbed.
I have a hentai (Viper GTS) where a normal demon guy with two dick gives some pump to an angel chick, but a vagina for a mouth?
Wasnt Urotsukidoji one of the first anime to implement tentacles?
Mind you, today I was screwed again, sasw an awesome looking gif of a hentai with good animation, and felt decided to look for its name an get it, but once I got to see more pics I changed my mind.
PhasE- 09-29-2008
As for the girl with 2 penis and 2 vagina, the hentai has nothing to do with demons which make the show 20 times more disturbing, and YES a vagina for a mouth... it's called pigeon blood.
Yup, Urotsukidoji had the reputation of bringing the tentacle genre, as depictions of a penis were prohibited, so they did tentacles and the creator proved successful and in turn created Demon Beast Invasion series. I can't remember the source so take my info with a pinch of salt.
Let's quit talking about hentai, ok? :(
I've been made uncomfortable by anime a few times:
1) Death of Optimus Prime
2) Death of that Orange hair badguy from series 1 Sailormoon
3) Creation of Chimaera Nina in Full Metal Alchemist
1, 2, 3 revolves being attached to the characters and me being young and inexperienced.
ConSmithsAngel- 09-29-2008
What was the orange haired guy really close to Serena's friend? (God that show is old! I can hardly remember a thing!) I only remember being upset about it cause he had his skin tearing apart and he had green blood.
I actually got into anime through Tenchi Muyo. The first episode I saw was the one where Ryoko was replaced by a robot and the infamous cry on Tenchi and missed killing him scene. Yeah, out of all the female anime characters ever created, Ryoko was my favorite. She was a sex symbol without being a dumb bimbo and she kicked major ass.
Yeah, now that I think about it. The plot kinda sucks, but it's actually (compared to anime now) very well written and thought out.
The English voices (Except Ryoko) sucked.
Masami had that annoying shrill. Ayeka sounded so stuck up, she also had an annoying shrill (Although I hated Ayeka all together.). Washu and Tenchi both sound like they have a bad cold. Mihoshi just sounded like one of those dumb Brooklyn bitches who work as a waitress and a hooker part-time.
*sigh* sucks to learn your childhood favorites are just a washed up memory.
