Travis Renfield McBeef- 04-28-2007

I agree with Oldboy, and I would also add "The Empire Strikes back" and Pirates of the Carribbean 2, just because of the final scene.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfoXlDVBq24 LOL, that ending was pure brilliance. This is the ending that No More Heroes should've had.

Xed- 05-16-2008

Brazil has the best ending I've ever seen in a movie, lol.

ferlanga- 05-16-2008

Odd that NMH didnt have a comic relief black guy. Seriously, is it me or in most movies the black guy?: -dies (in a gory way if other people die too) -is comical or not taken seriously -gangsta style -if it doesnt die, it gets a serious ass whoppin With my friends we came to that conclusion, since in most movies we saw the black guy almost always dies

I actually miss the days when they just killed the black guy early on in movies, because at least they didn't spend an hour and a half stereotyping them as a race of violent thugs who'll probably rob you if at least two of them walk into your store. Or at least that last part is how Korean store owners interpret it.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfoXlDVBq24 LOL, that ending was pure brilliance. This is the ending that No More Heroes should've had. What do you mean? Have Travis get arrested? I'm guessing that you didn't understand the ending... Not to be condescending or anything, but have you ever seen a monty python flick before? That question is just absurd to me. I guess the ending isn't funny at all if you've never seen the holy grail in its entirety. Luckily the entire movie is already uploaded on youtube. What made that ending so hilarious was how it threw in a completely unexpected curve ball at the audience. The entirety of the film made you believe that it was set in medieval times, & that he was actually King Arthur embarking on a quest for the holy grail. Instead that movie was just one insane moment after moment until it gets so quirky that modern day London cops burst in the scene & arrest everybody. There was even a scene where a monster disappears, because the animator died of a heart attack. My favorite part is when Lancelot slaughters a shit load of villagers just to save a princess. (A princess who's actually a prince.) I also loved the part with the black knight, the killer bunny, & the part where the killer bunny gets nuked by the holy hand grenade. The randomness of King Arthur being arrested at the end of the movie was basically an epic punch line that was slowly developing after one of King Arthur's knights killed the "famous historian" during the first half of the film. I dunno. I feel like I'm ruining the joke by trying to explain it & shit. All in all NMH's ending would've been far more effective had it came with an insane twist like The Holy Grail did. (The ending scene with Garcian trying to kill Travis while he's taking a shit was pretty funny, but he's not really Garcian. So that scene sucks ass.) Odd that NMH didnt have a comic relief black guy. What about that badass yanki Black man at the end of NMH? He got killed in a pretty gruesome way. I don't even understand what's the point of that ending if he isn't even Garcian. That ending would be far more hilarious if he were the real Garcian, and not some random fucker who resembles him. IMO, I think Suda is just saying that shit so he won't disappoint his Western fans. (Suda kills off his main characters all the time. A lot of times they'll die in the most pathetic ways possible. Especially Ryo from MS who got capped during the beginning of SC.) I'm still waiting for the reason why he looks like Garci. Suda said there's a special reason for that, but he's not saying a word. What a punk, lol.

didn't spend an hour and a half stereotyping them as a race of violent thugs who'll probably rob you if at least two of them walk into your store. That sentiment is actually pretty true. At least I've seen it happen many times from my years in California. Although you normally won't see anybody get mugged. They'll just shoplift shit. Nobody would ever notice either. Except me, but I normally don't say anything about it, because it's none of my business. Personally there wouldn't really be a problem of Black men being portrayed as thugs & gangstas if hollywood actually bothered to show you why they're thugs & gangstas. A lot of these guys grew up being accused of criminal activity, & are blamed on by society in general. To the point where they'll eventually take on the persona of the "angry black man", because that's the only way that society would accept them. (If you are constantly told that you're a piece of shit. Eventually you're start acting like a piece of shit.) Mike Tyson is a clear cut example of this. If you listen closely to what Tyson says. You'll slowly start to realize how smart he actually is. (Tyson says a lot of deep philosophical shit that gets you thinking. Hell he uses some pretty big ass words, and he actually uses them correctly.) He even said it himself a couple of times that the reason why he acts the way he does is because people refuse to accept him whenever he tries to be well mannered & eloquent. So he just said fuck it, & doesn't bother to act proper anymore. As for movie stereotypes. I'm sick & tired of the asian guy being portrayed as some dickless fag who can't get any women. They come in two flavours as well. Extremely nerdy: That Jap guy in heroes who can't even speak japanese correctly, lol. Kung fu master: Jackie, Jet, Bruce, etc. It wouldn't be bothersome if it didn't have such an adverse effect on people in real life. You should see how many girls get disgusted once they find out I'm asian. I don't hide the fact that I'm oriental at all. I just look, & act so different from the Asian stereotype that most Americans rarely ever acknowledge me as Asian. Note: For the record. I only have this problem in America. Which further shows how ignorant America is of foreign cultures. Simply because you never see any asian who's pimping like I in hollywood films. There's like a whole other world out there that I'm part of that you just never see in movies. Whenever you do see an asian faggot who's supposedly cool it's normally one of those retarded Ricers (Street Racing losers) or that "Jin tha mc" fag. I see a lot of Asian Americans who idolize this cat. I don't understand why either, he's a cornball. I'd kick his ass just for perpetrating such a laughable stereotype. Yeah so he can freestyle, and a pure battle mc. I can respect that, but so what. He still looks like a 13 yr. old kid who's balls haven't dropped yet, lol. When I saw him in "2 Fast 2 Furious" I had no idea that Jin was supposed to be a celebrity. He just looks like some random Asian kid trying hard to be "Black". When I say "Black". I'm referring to hollywood stereotype "Black" (Hip Hop is about forging your own look & style. Not emulating another person's life style.) If you're wondering why I was watching such a horrible movie. Two words, EVA MENDES... nuff said. By cool looking oriental guys. I'm talking about people like Masaya Kato. That guy has basically the same style & look that I have. Which is why it pisses me off how I need to watch Jap movies just to see asian people who actually resemble people like myself. He has tried to make it big in Hollywood, but he hasn't gotten anywhere. (In over 20 years. People such as Ken Watanabe were just a lucky fluke imo.) Which is why I'm fairly certain that Hollywood is trying its best to make Asians look like a bunch of copycat wannabes, or losers who can't get laid. Course there is a reason for that. A lot of asians from America have no cultural identity at all. (They're just Americans who try desperately hard to connect with their Asian roots, & fail horribly. They should just be proud to be American, rather then be something that they're not. Most Azn Americans would be in for a rude awakening once they try to live in Asia.) I fucking hate the way Asian Americans look. They're always so wannabe Black, LOL. That's just my piece about Asians. (The stereotype that affects me most.) There's many hollywood stereotypes that I can't stand. Such as the way they stereotype hiphop, gays, middle easterners, Africans (From Africa. You know the Africans who happen to be White.), Latins, Indians, etc. Basically you're only depicted as normal if you're full blown Brad Pitt White. (Hollywood even discriminates against Whites as well. Look at their over the top depictions of Italians, & Spaniards.)

(If you are constantly told that you're a piece of shit. Eventually you're start acting like a piece of shit.)Yeah, it's basically an endless circle for some people, which isn't to say it's an excuse, because they obviously deserve a load of the blame for their own actions. The people I feel sorry for though are the ones who are treated that way but don't give in to society's assumptions about them, which are just further reinforced every time another black person victimizes someone of another race. It's the same way for latinos and the ones in gangs who become hardcore gangstas, going around killing cops and shit to prove how tough they are. When people do shit like that, the first thing whites (and other races, sometimes) look at is their skin color. And of course it's just going to provide fodder for all the Sean Hannitys and Bill O'Reillys trying to promote their message of racial superiority, as they'll point to every criminal of a particular minority and claim it proves what they're saying. I've noticed that too, that the only way an asian can be portrayed as anything other than comic relief is if he knows martial arts. Hell, before Bruce Lee came around and changed things in America, they didn't even have asian actors, the goofy comical characters that just made fun of asian stereotypes were simply played by inbred white trash in a pair of oversized glasses and buck teeth. I think the most tragic example is an accomplished actor like Chow Yun-Fat, who couldn't seem to find any success in the U.S. until he learned some martial arts. Because then he was marketable. Those pics you posted are a great example of the difference between how cool asians are capable of being and how they're portrayed as in western media. And it's funny how you talk about asians not being able to get women in movies, because I've seen lots of asian guys with white women in real life, yet in movies you see asian women hooking up with white guys more than they do asian guys. Because historically, at least according to Hollywood, asian guys have never been able to get women. Don't ask how they've lasted so many years. Back on subject, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the best comedy films of all time, for the stuff you mentioned. A lot of other stuff in Monty Python that I can remember were a bit too random and non-sensical to really make any sense to me, but The Holy Grail was a masterpiece.

I laughed when me an my friend watched the movie "Stealth" (one reason i'll go to hell), basically they are 3 persons, the white cool guy (THE MAN!!), hot nail spitting blonde girl, and easy going black dude. Obviously, the back dude was unfitting, and they kill him so the other 2 can love eachother in peace.

Mecha Sonic- 05-17-2008

I just can't like Monty Python. I just don't find it funny at all. All my friends hate me for this. :( I'm sorry guys.

Lisker- 05-17-2008

The movie? Or the entire series? Actually, I think there was another movie. Meh.

Jedilink- 05-19-2008

Dude, Paprika is awesome, along with Hot Fuzz. Ummm.....There's some silly kung fu movies that I have that I'd put on this list. I watched them thinking they'd be totally silly and while they were, the plot was SUPER detailed for some reason. Much more than "You killed my master! Revenge time now!" of most kung fu flicks. :P I can't remember the exact one I'm thinking of right now but oh well. :P

Jedilink- 05-19-2008

Oh and there were 3 Monty Python movies. I personally like those movies quite a bit but I can totally understand why some people don't like them and that's fine with me. There were Holy Grail, The Meaning Of Life, and The Life Of Brian.

KIRBY 7- 05-20-2008

I just can't like Monty Python. I just don't find it funny at all. That's okay. What I don't understand is how do you get into Suda 51's humour? Suda's style is rather similar to Monty Python imo. As they both rely on irony, word puns, & over the top violence for their punch lines. There were Holy Grail, The Meaning Of Life, and The Life Of Brian. All of which are funny as hell. (I never saw Meaning of Life, but whatever...) Hell, before Bruce Lee came around and changed things in America, they didn't even have asian actors, the goofy comical characters that just made fun of asian stereotypes were simply played by inbred white trash in a pair of oversized glasses and buck teeth. Actually, there was a Japanese guy who used to be a famous American actor. He was as famous in America as Brad Pitt/ Tom Cruise back in the early 1900's. His name is Sessue Hayakawa. Who coincidentally looked a bit like Golgo 13, lol. (Who's another Japanese man who fucks a lot of women.) His name is engrave in the hollywood walk of fame, but you never hear about it, because that's how marginalized asians are in the West. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0370564/bio The popularity of Hayakawa rivaled that of Caucausian male movie stars in the decade of the 1910s, and he became one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. Hayakawa made his career in melodramas playing romantic heroes and charismatic heavies. He co-starred with the biggest female stars in Hollywood, all of whom were, of course, Caucasian. His pictures often co-starred Jack Holt as his Caucasian rival for the love of the white heroine. Seems pretty accurate to me. Most women that are attracted to me are attractive Caucasian females. (I prefer Eurasian, but like Grave once said. You take want you can get. I have bad luck with asian women. Most Asian women are only attracted to me when one of their White, or Latina friends fall for me, lol.) IMO, I think this is the main reason why asian people are always portrayed as socially awkward. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sessue_Hayakawa After years of extensive typecasting at Famous Players, Hayakawa decided to form his own production company. He borrowed $1 million from a former classmate at the University of Chicago and formed Haworth Pictures Corporation in 1918. Over the next three years he pumped out 23 films and netted $2 million a year.Hayakawa controlled the content. He produced, starred in, and contributed to the design, writing, editing, and directing of the films. His films influenced the way the American public viewed Asians. In 1918 Hayakawa personally chose the highly popular American serial actress Marin Sais to appear opposite him in a series of films, the first being the 1918 racial drama The City of Dim Faces followed by His Birthright, which also starred his wife. Hayakawa's collaboration with Sais ended with the 1919 film Bonds of Honor. In 1919 Hayakawa made what is generally considered one of his best films, The Dragon Painter. During this period Hayakawa was at his Hollywood peak. He was one of the highest paid stars of the era, making $2 million a year through his production company throughout the 1920s.<22> His fame rivaled that of Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, and in many ways he can be seen as a precursor to Rudolph Valentino. I think the main reason why asians are marginalized is because we're actually a threat to the status quo. We can actually change the way people think, because some of us are as rich & influential as wealthy Caucasians. Note: There's rich, & then there's wealthy. Most celebrities are rich. Oil baron's are wealthy. (They are wealthy enough to hand out the rich celebritie's their checks.) From what I recall the only wealthy people in America are mostly White. There are a handful of exceptions here & there, but most of them are Chinese/Japanese, & Middle Eastern. Even then we're only talking about 1 to 10 wealthy families of non white origin at the most. Actually I think it's less than that. 5 at the most.
