Cloverfield Anyone saw this yet? I've seen a "copy" of it of awful quality, but I expect to watch it at the cinema when it opens here (25 or 26).
I actually thought it was cool, in the sense that this is pretty much how you should make a giant monster movie (like 1954 Gojira). Not exactly the technique used, or gimmick -the handheld cam-, but the sense of horror felt close to the mark. Besides, the monster's mouth looks like a vagina.
The viral marketing campaign was (is) irritating. I hate viral marketing campaigns, although I recognize it is an effective way of selling whatever it is you're selling.

There's nothing scarier than a giant vagina.

I thought the movie was fantastic. Even the viral campaign was interesting to me.
I would even say I was scared in certain parts of the movie since its so wild. I just hope more monster movies are made like this.
And the monster creeped the shit outta me. And I didn't think his mouth looked like a vag, its was just weird. I don't know.
Anyway I recommend it for its interesting blend of monster thrills, and the handheld camera technique.
(I never saw blair witch, but now I know why that movie was so big back in the day after seeing cloverfield)
Heh the US has a movie like this coming out, its called "Teeth."
Looks f-ed up!

Sitting through 1.5 hours of shaky cam and occasional strobe lighting wasn't too fun. Sure it made sense and everything, it just gave me a headache.
That's the kinda film you gotta see on a computer, and it probably wouldn't matter how bad the cam rip is.
Sound, compositing, and other visual effects were effing awesome.
"Are you aware of Garfield?" - possibly the most memorable line from the movie for me.

Im rly interested in this movie.
Here in Germany it came out only today and im probably going to watch it sometime.
I hope they thought of something unique concerning the monster.
Since theyre making a huge hype about it, I expect kinda more than slime and countless tentacles.
I expect somethin really cool like Spielberg`s Tripods or the Xenomorph, which really sticks into your mind after you first saw it.

Just saw it again, and I liked it even more, since now I feel like I've caught everything that was going on. (Especially at the end, with Coney Island).
I still can't wrap my brain around the monster. But I likes his style.

Yeah at the Wal-Mart here in town, that movie Teeth was released a few weeks back but was pulled from the shelves on the release date. I read about it and it looks hilarious. On the back of the box for it there was a shot of some dude with bite marks all over his hand. XD!!!!!!!!!
True Grave- 05-19-2008
My buddy has it, heh, wow. Its definetly something to watch, really will make a man squirm.
The shot on the back of the kid missing a finger, well yeah thats not hard to figure out why!

I loved that shot on the back. My friends and I want to check it out some time.
