Contact!
http://www.mmv-i.net/game/ds/contact/ This was originally beleived to be the rumoured sequel/prequel to Earthbound/Mother 2. A new role playing game for the DS. Damn if Suda51 happens to be the man that writes this game, than I hella need to try this. Considering that Earthbound was a weirdass game anyway. Imagine the type of spontaneous situations that would populate Contact!under the helm of Grasshopper. It looks like the game has a loose connection to Killer 7. The story of Contact begins when an elderly professor, making use of a strange item called "element," creates a space ship and blasts off into space. He ends up crash landing on a strange planet, and with the elements now scattered across the planet, he can no longer get his ship off the ground. So, the professor enlists the help of a young local boy called Cherry in collecting the elements. Enlists may not be the correct term -- Cherry is forced to help the professor when Cherry comes into the possession of a mysterious set of seals. Helping the professor is the only way that Cherry will be able to get home. You play a role in the game's storyline as well. Once Cherry sets out on his journey to find the elements, the professor ends up losing contact with him. The professor asks that the person who bought Contact -- that is, the player of the game -- work with Cherry to find the Elements. Your adventure with Cherry begins on a deserted island. Contact makes use of two main gameplay systems. Giving the game somewhat of a loose connection with Killer 7 is a costume system through which you make Cherry change into costumes, earning new skills along the way. You'll earn seven costumes as you work through your adventure, turning Cherry into such forms as a fisherman, a cook and a pilot. With greater use, a costume rises in level, adding extra power to its associated skills. Outside of the costume-based skills, Cherry also has magic and weapon-based skills which you also gather as you work through the game. The other gameplay system centers on the seals that were mentioned in the storyline. Cherry can stick multiple seals to himself, resulting in added powers. Seals can also be used to attack enemies who get in the way of your travels. Come across an elemental, and you'll want to use a seal to suck it up. Source: http://www.n-philes.com/?id=1843

Has anyone picked this up yet? I was tempted on it's Japanese release, but the language barrier held me back. Apparently it's US release isn't far off. I think it's July 25th.(^_^)

Well any Grasshopper game on a Nintendo System is a good thing! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D And Suda 51 is awesome! I hopes that he really helped this game out in development!!!! That'd just make it better by default! :)

Ahh, you've beat me to it, Topdrunkee. I was about to post a topic after browsing around on Gamespot. Well... here's the link. http://www.gamespot.com/ds/rpg/contact/index.html

And Suda 51 is awesome! I hopes that he really helped this game out in development!!!! That'd just make it better by default! :) Suda is just in charge of over seeing the project. I'm a bit disapointed that Suda 51 didn't write the story. (Imagine how trippy a eartboundish looking rpg would be if written by the mad man Suda.) Ah yeah btw the game is being translated & published to the U.S.A by Atlus. Old news I just never felt like posting it.

Akura- 05-09-2006

Atlus, huh. I dunno, I always looked at them and thought they were kinda mediocre. Didn't they do Trauma Center?

shabb- 09-22-2006

in what form does contact got a connection to killer7?

Fulgor- 09-22-2006

In the form, that the main character can change his class, dressing a costume... Is like change to a persona in Killer7.

Jedilink- 09-24-2006

Well EGM gave this game some pretty good scores, so when I get money (yeah like THAT'S ever gonna happen) I'll try and snag a copy maybe. :)

True Grave- 10-22-2006

I picked my copy up a few days ago and I'm enjoying it. This should be interesting to RPG fans, since I dont usually play in ya'lls world of RPGs and the like. Heh read the back of the game box they take nice shot at FF7 and the other overrated RPGs out there.

BobTheDarkOne- 10-22-2006

I saw it too. And I lol'd. I'll be getting this tuesday.

Jedilink- 10-23-2006

Well I'm gonna go to Best Buy and check it out so I can see it finally. :P I'm gonna try and get it soon, but Ubisoft sent me a 10 dollar off card in my e-mail since it was my birthday a few weeks ago. So I have to get an Ubisoft game here soon. :P It has to be from the Ubisoft online store.....Red Steel maybe? I only have a Gamecube and a DS. And I'm gonna get a Wii....any suggestions? Either Red Steel or Splinter Cell for the Wii I'm thinking, but they haven't put up Splinter Cell on the website yet. I can preorder Red Steel though! What should I do?

BobTheDarkOne- 10-23-2006

Red Steel. Ubisoft became shitty after pandora tomorow.

Jedilink- 10-23-2006

What?!?!! Chaos Theory was fantastic! And the Prince of Persia games have always been good! But yeah, HOPEFULLY, I'll be able to use some of my money in my check this week and preorder Red Steel. that' be all kinds of sweetness! ;) Even though I'd prefer to get Splinter Cell. :P Oh well, haha. Red Steel looks pretty cool though! ^_^ I can't wait for the Wii.

BobTheDarkOne- 10-23-2006

I meant Splinter Cell* My bad. I heart the ol' Ubi. I'm even thinking abotu getting a job here after college.
