The only reason Persona 3 sells decently now is because the newer Persona games are less Japanese, and more Otaku influenced.maybe for this reason the p4 flunk in japan, for what I saw it is not selling very good
I emulated Soma Bringer just to see how bad it was only to be pleasantly surprised with how good it is.how you did that? knowing nintendo of america, if you ask when this game is coming stateside, they will say "what is soma bringer" they are so stupid they didn't even know about fatar frame wii :O that sucks big time nintendo of america is maybe like koei of america >.<
And to be fair to Atlus they only published Disgaea and the rest of those shitty cookie cutter animu strategy games (which are grindfests that require 0% strategy anyway) which are shat out by Nippon Ichi Software.I think you misread what I wrote about atlus. I'm not dissing them for publishing animu games. (It was more of a backhanded compliment about how Atlus replaced Working designs.) I'm just saying that Disgaea was the turning point that convinced atlus to translate Nocturne. (That and Dante.) When I said atlus used to suck. I'm specifically referring to the short time period after Persona 2 Eternal Punishment was released. Atlus released shit such as eggs of steel, robopon, Gulliver or whatever the hell it was called. I can't even remember. Let's just say that atlus's catalogue of games from 1999 to 2003 looked about as bad as Ocean/Acclaim's entire gaming library. Sure atlus may have just published these titles, but that's all Atlus America is. They don't make their own games, so I include any game that they localize. Considering that atlus went through a time period where they didn't bother to localize any atlus japan games at all.
Etrian Odyssey 1 & 2 are good in-house Atlus titles though, I'd love to see a proper Megaten spin off for the DS based around that game engine.Etrian Odyssey seems like it was based off of Soul Hacker's engine in the first place. Which is why that game feels so much like old school megaten. I wouldn't be surprised if EO was built by the same programmers from SH. The only thing EO is missing is demon recruitment, guns (As a secondary weapon. Rather than a main.), & diplomacy.
Well Capcom used to be awesome WAY back, now its middling. It produced many cool games for arcades and consoles: beat-em ups, fighting games, shmups and other stuff; now you can pretty much count their good games with just one hand.Hell back in the day. Sega & Capcom were the gods of gaming. Capcom is still doing decent. Sega only has Virtua Fighter, & their sakura taisen, ryu ga gotoku (Yakuza) titles.
how you did that?I downloaded the rom, lol. http://www.romsite.net/?q=soma+bringer&system=2&submit1=Search
Seriously, nothing comes me to my mind, if we reverse the topic, we could point a lot of developing teams of nowadays.Alrighty, then how about we reverse the topic? They suck now: Square sucks (Enix is still good.) Konami sucks bungie sucks Atlus R&D 1 sucks Sega sucks bioware sucks rare sucks They're the main ones that come to mind at least.
maybe for this reason the p4 flunk in japan, for what I saw it is not selling very goodHow bad is P4 doing? I can't imagine it being any worse than the sales for DDS 1 & 2, and Devil Summoner 3, lol. All in all I believe that P4 will at least make bank in America, because P4 is the only gayness of its kind besides P3 that we've ever gotten in the states. I find it hilarious that megaten got popular in the west around the same time that megaten games started to flop in the East. (DDS 1 & 2.) With all the hype surrounding Persona 3, it had me believing that it was selling like hot cakes, but when I look at the sells figures. Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment & "Persona be your true mind" still way out sold P3. (IS & EP did just barely. Be Your true mind sold so many copies that it even out sold Nocturne.)
I downloaded the rom, lol.lol there is not other way to play it then I'll do = atlus will keep the ps2 alive
that impress me cus they still doing those gamesFuck that. Persona 3, Persona 4, DDS 1 & 2, DS3 Kuzunoha Raido. That shit ain't megaten. Megaten games used to be a bit more silent hillish. Megaten games of today are either weaboo wonderland bullshit. (DS/Persona) or overrated emo angst fests (DDS2) Atlus should just let megaten die in peace. Each new megaten they make is selling less & less, and part of the reason is because they don't even resemble megaten games anymore. I laugh, at Atlus for assuming that old school megaten wasn't viable anymore simply because SMT Nocturne didn't sell as well as expected. All they're new Nippon Ichi wannabes that masquerade as "megaten" have all been disastrous flops save for Persona 3. (& Persona 3 still didn't sell as well as Nocturne.)
btw atlus ftw bwahahaha your sig part of atlusMy sig is referring to how Atlus are bunch of sellouts. So essentially what my sig is actually saying is that "Atlus can go eat a dick." The two black suited people in the picture were the original creators of the Megaten games. The picture itself is from the Sumaru Tv special disc. "screwed my childhood" means that they done fucked up megaten. Which was a franchise of games that I wasted a shit load of time on when I was a kid. Part of the reason why I'm so fucked up in the head had to do with how fucked up, insane & abstract the megaten series used to be. Megaten was a huge influence in my life. They were doing Suda 51 style stories since way before Suda was even employed in the gaming industry.
I find it hilarious that megaten got popular in the west around the same time that megaten games started to flop in the East.that is weird it is like the video game audience is way behind what the japanese market, what I mean is that there are a lot of japanese developers that said that what is happening in japan will happen in USA eventually, like big games that don't sell it is weird cus atlus have some games that don't sell good but they still doing them besides those megaten games, other companies they one game flops and they never release new games, besides atlus games seen to have something different than most of the publishers, and atlus is not something like SE, nintendo, or sony, they don't seem to be that huge
it is weird cus atlus have some games that don't sell good but they still doing them besides those megaten games, other companies they one game flops and they never release new games,It's not weird at all. What atlus does is make new games that have nothing to do with an established franchise & then slap the megaten moniker on it. In hopes that it would sell. Seriously you need to play the original Personas on the psone, and the original Devil Summoners on the Sega Saturn & Psone to see how different they are when compared with the games that share the Devil Summoner, & Persona titles today. I have no idea how much I need to stress that. Most current megaten fans seem to have no idea that Devil Summoner was a popular series in Japan that even spawned its own live action tv show. Sure Persona 3 had an anime, but that shit was so lame, that even P3 fans know to steer clear away from it. At least the Devil Summoner live action
looked dark, & dreary like a megaten.

Seriously how the fuck did Devil Summoner (Megaten) come from this
★「真・女神転生 デビルサマナー」★(TV東京系)1997 ` Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner (Tv series 1997)

to this?

How did megaten go from gritty to weaboo? None of the weaboo Megatens have even sold half as good as Soul hackers did.
So I honestly don't understand who Atlus is trying to appeal to.
Unless they're intent is to specifically target an American audience with their animu drivel.
(You see more Anime on tv in America than you do in Japan.)
I'm not playing around when I claim that megaten games used to be very dark & occult. Most newer megaten fans always treat I as if I just thought megaten games were darker, and more mature back then.
That Devil Summoner tv show is proof alone of how occult/badass Megaten used to be.
(The tv show is based off of the original Devil Summoner game.)
This is Devil Summoner.
You don't see anything that looks that goddamn awesome in the PS2 "Kuzunoha vs some random bullshit" titles.
http://www.atlus.com/devilsummoner/
I won't even get into how different Persona was, because I did it enough at other unrelated threads.
and atlus is not something like SE, nintendo, or sony, they don't seem to be that hugeAtlus Japan used to be big. Megaten was Japan's third best selling rpg franchise. (First two being Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy.) There was a time when I once believed that Koei would partner up with Atlus. Considering that Koei Europe translates a lot of Atlus Japan games. Who would've guessed that Koei decided to take Tecmo under their wing.
http://z13.invisionfree.com/koeiwarriors/index.php?showtopic=13569&st=getnewpost
Contrary to popular belief. Koei is actually one of the richer companies in Japan. (Their "Warriors" series is popular throughout Asia. Warriors seems to be the 2nd best selling non rpg franchise in Japan.)
Similar to how Enix is richer than Square. (All Enix needs is Dragon Quest, because those games sell like crazy in Japan.)
For some reason people in the West still believe that Square is the company that's holding all the pants in the Square Enix merger.
(Square would've went bankrupt a long time ago if Enix didn't step in, and fund Square themselves.)
I find it interesting how the pattern yet repeats.
Ever since Enix merged with Square.
I always knew that Koei was going to step in & team up with a smaller company that has more world reknown clout.
(Koei isn't popular overseas, because gamers aren't used to Koei's pc style strategy games, and they usually hate on the the Warriors series.)
It ended up being Tecmo that went floundering first. (Ever since Tomonobu Itagaki resigned from Tecmo.)
I wish this merger would've happened with Atlus. Maybe then Atlus would stop fucking up megaten if backed up with Koei's cashflow.
Then again, Koei had to step in after seeing how Square Enix tried to usurp Tecmo for themselves.
I hope Tecmo agrees with the Koei partnership. Coz if not, I see Koei knocking on Atlus's doors sometime soon once Atlus gets into worse financial troubles.
"they screwed mah childhood" lol because their games have so much adult content lol, things that you are supposed to know like at age at 30, you just learn it when you are 14It's the other way around. I feel that they're screwing with my childhood, because they keep fucking up what megaten used to be. Megaten is not Nippon Ichi lite. Megaten was never about retard anime shit. Megaten is supposed to be the Rpg version of Suda 51's "Kill the Past" themed games. (Moonlight Syndrome, Silver Case, Silver Case 25 Ward, Flower Sun and Rain, Killer 7)
besides atlus games seen to have something different than most of the publishersNot really. Koei & even SquareEnix have made ass loads of "different" games. The only difference here is that Atlus is actually crazy enough to release games like Trauma Center stateside. Whereas Square Enix, and Koei tend to leave their more "niche" titles stranded in Japan. Koei http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/zo/top.htm http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/psp/neoangelique/ http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/strg/ http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/taikou/ http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/haruka4/ http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/kakushin/wpk/ http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/ds/qt/index.htm http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/ds/gabu/ Square Enix http://www.square-enix.co.jp/hmt/ http://www.yantama.jp/ http://www.square-enix.co.jp/mobile/game/portopia/ http://www.square-enix.co.jp/mobile/game/mysteries/karuizawa/ http://www.square-enix.co.jp/mobile/game/mysteries/ http://www.square-enix.co.jp/sigma/ http://www.square-enix.com/jp/archive/0story/ http://www.square-enix.com/jp/archive/aspw2/ http://www.square-enix.com/jp/archive/psga_sokaigi/ I think it's unfair how Atlus is always awarded with the underground respect. Especially since they haven't done anything that Square Enix or Koei haven't already done. As I said before, and I say it once again. Persona 3 only seems unique to the west, because it's the only gayness of its kind to make it stateside. (Besides the vastly superior Mana Khemia.) Sega already has the dating sim/rpg hybrid locked the fuck down anyway. http://www.sakura-taisen.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakura_Wars
