Suda is pretty lucky, with Capcom publishing K7; where the hell he gets all those connections?Suda 51 was already a notorious cult figure in Japan for the absurd direction he took with the Twilight Syndrome series. So much so that Moonlight Syndrome is actually retconned out of the main Twilight Syndrome timeline. Thankfully, Suda 51 continued what he begun in MS with SC, & FSR. Both of which continue after the events of Moonlight Syndrome. (Killer 7 seems to also be connected to moonlight syndrome, because of Mithra, Garcian's TV & the moon loading screens.) Basically you could say that Suda was an indie artist who finally got his big break with Capcom. (Mainly due to his connections with Shinji Mikami.)
Also killer8 mentions mikami as story writer and director too in final credits , so it kept me wondering always in WHAT space each performed, how many ideas and story elements are put in by kimami and suda respectively.I think Mikami directly influenced how much action was in the game. To the point where Killer 7 feels like some abandoned prototype for RE 4. If you ignore K7's unorthodox control scheme than what you're left with is a game that's built like a prototype for a Shinji Mikami game. If you played Silver Case, FSR, or Moonlight Syndrome. You'll usually see that Suda's games are typically more verbose & detailed when it comes to story line. They usually play more like sound novels. There's usually no typical traditional video game narratives such as "bad guys to track down & kill" in earlier Suda games. Even his more cryptic games such as FSR had more of a focus on story immersion & exploration than his later games do. The thing I noticed about games such as K7 & NMH, is that the plots just don't make any sense, and the atmosphere is completely all over the place. SC & MS were both horror/suspense through out the entirety of the game. Though SC lies more on the political conspiracy side with a dash of psycho horror. FSR is more of a mystery/suspense mind fuck, but with a dash of sexually related humour. FSR is the most comparable to Mulholland Drive. K7 is when shit starts getting schizophrenic. I can't really describe K7 as just horror, mystery, conspiracy, humour, mind fuck/ slap stick, comedy. or satire, because K7 didn't have a coherent atmosphere. It was just random for the sake of random. (Post modern.) NMH is also another random ass game without a coherent structure to it. NMH basically takes everything that people loved about K7 & shits out the rest. The end result is a game that is smart & witty, but also insulting & degrading to the gamer at the same time, because NMH uses Travis & the player by proxy as the punch of a cruel joke. If NMH were a movie it would be the equivalent of a trashy troma film. Now granted Suda games have been post modern since MS. The earlier titles MS/SC were post modern in the same way that earlier Megaten games were post modern. In a sense that they seem confusing & random, but there was still a connecting theme that connected all the scenes in the game. FSR in a way was a bit of a narrative mess (like Lynch's Mulholland Drive), but it's clever how the events of FSR fit together when you finally realize that FSR is actually a continuation of the Silver Case. FSR ties up some loose ends between the two majour factions of the SC setting. Sundance Shot family & the Hachisuka family. I'm not bitter about Suda like I am with Megaten. (Megaten completely sold out.) I believe that Suda will make a dark ass game like Silver Case one day. A real game mind you. The problem with Silver Case is that they're more digital novel than they are games. I'm hoping for a new SC to get the big budget MGS treatment. The game will most obviously flop, and then Suda will go back to making tarrantino/kill bill influenced bullshit, but ah well. I'll be satisfied so long as Suda 51 makes at least one world wide release in the vein of Silver Case.
But he makes games for bussiness now, all the random swearing, blood and wackiness is just for pleasing western market to churn money. NMH reeks of serving western market.QFT. Have you ever noticed how a lot of Western Suda 51 fans usually act wacky & crazy? A lot of them seem to have this mindless love for Suda games, yet they can't even explain to you why they like Suda games. They just do. A lot of them don't really seem to understand the plot lines either. Other then whatever they may have read from the plot faq, or this site. Normally when I see or hear a self proclaimed Suda 51 fan speak. They usually sound like they're just mimicking or echoing the memes of other like minded individuals. Suda fandom almost feels like a cult. Which is why I usually distance myself away from it. NMH does have its qualities, but I definitely do not want to see Suda wasting more time on pointless games like NMH. Especially since he has the ability to make games that had some seriously original ideas that went into it. The plot of FSR for example was such a multi layered conspiracy that most Western Suda 51 fans actually believe that FSR is just some child's "cooking mama" game. Why, because the FSR press releases & the first 10 levels of FSR itself don't even bother to tell you about the overarching conspiracy that the game revolves around. (Although it is hinted at.) You need to piece it together yourself. FSR was one of the few games I've played where all the bits & pieces of the fragmented story eventually built up the farther you went into the game. It's interesting how FSR started off as some weird post modern bullshit, then builds up to be a continuation of three or four plot lines from the Silver Case game. FSR eventually ends by imitating the user interface of the Silver Case games. It also lets you know that FSR was really just some covert operation being conducted by both Tetsuguro & Sumio. It was so secret that even the identities of Sumio & Tetsuguro were hidden away from us until the end of the game. I haven't seen that much complexity in a game plot since Troika's Arcanum. (Which also started out as typical bullshit, about an emo elf. Only to find out that the Arcanum's events were shaped & twisted by a necromancer who was made out ot be just a minor character in the game.) If there's one problem that I have with videogames is that they get no love at all if you don't market your game as some typical "badass" shit. FSR had a pretty badass plot, with a cast full of badass characters. (As badass, no even more badass than the badass cast of badasses from Killer 7.) Yet everybody slept on this shit, because FSR wasn't marketed as "badass". People hate on the title of the game, because it doesn't sound "badass" enough. Yes, my overuse of the word "badass" is intentional, because that's how overused the "badass" shctick is in the world of gaming.
I believe that Suda will make a dark ass game like Silver Case one day. A real game mind you. The problem with Silver Case is that they're more digital novel than they are games. I'm hoping for a new SC to get the big budget MGS treatment. The game will most obviously flop, and then Suda will go back to making tarrantino/kill bill influenced bullshit, but ah well. I'll be satisfied so long as Suda 51 makes at least one world wide release in the vein of Silver Case.I think this is why ghm is releasing his japanese-only games outside japan on the ds. But I'm not as optimist as you. If FSR and SC on ds flop. I don't think we'll have the chance to play another episode of the series or another game with similar tone & atmosphere.
suda involvement isnt in much space hand scare was cheapWho knows, maybe it is Suda approved. Suda has been more noticeably over the top ever since his transition from K7 to NMH. It's like he took all the juvenile shit from K7, and amplified them for NMH, and recycled them for Fatal Frame IV. I was hoping for a more subtle Twilight Syndrome/Moonlight Syndrome approach from Suda, but he seems to be the new Kojima. (Started off cool, then became an overrated ass one trick pony hack with legions of fans.)
its like man i am wacky look i play an like NMH, i mean some random wackiness doesn't neccssarily makes thing good even for the sake of wackiness. But it's not wacky for the sake of wacky. "It's deep! You just don't understand the deep symbolism." (Symbolism that isn't even there to begin with, lol.) Seriously though a lot of Suda fans make me look bad, because I see people in other forums talking shit about me as if I thought & acted like a typical Suda fan. Whenever I speak about the symbolism in a suda game. I usually present an assload of proof to support my assertions. I get laughed at a lot for my article 9 connection in K7. I think that only happens, because most gamers are politically ignorant, imo. So they fail to see the obvious allusions, & code speak. I saw this one article at the omlette that was clearly talking shit about me. http://flyingomelettespalace.yuku.com/topic/8306/t/The-12-Deadly-Sins-of-Video-Game-Storytelling.html (I bear no ill will toward her. We get along just fine. She's speaking in general anyway, but the comments are based off of some comments that I have said in the past.) IMO her assumptions show that she didn't understand what was going on in K7. Considering that she thought Iwazaru was Japanese, & alive, lol. I thought it was obvious that Iwazaru is supposed to be European, and DEAD. (Iwazaru is just his nick name. Iwazaru's real name is some long ass pretentious Euro name that I don't care to remember.) LOL, there were a lot of assumptions that she made about K7's plot that are clearly wrong, but I'll post more about that at the "k7 clarifications" thread. She even thought that the intro in sunset was supposed to be the story, when it was really just background info that sets up the current geo political tension of K7. She also thinks that K7 is trying to tell a stereotypical view of the East vs West conflict. When K7 revolves more around opposites. Even than that's just one theme. When will people realize that K7 was merely a cypher for thoughts, ideas & expression, and not some fucking soap opera like MGS. (Thinking about it. You could even say that K7 was like a pandora's box of unspoken taboos.) I hate it when people mistake me for one of them pseudo intellectuals who posses no substance of actual thought. Yet at the same time it makes it easier for I to rationalize my arguments. If only because the opposing side was grasping at straws to begin with.
I think this is why ghm is releasing his japanese-only games outside japan on the ds. But I'm not as optimist as you. If FSR and SC on ds flop. I don't think we'll have the chance to play another episode of the series or another game with similar tone & atmosphere. It's not an if, they will flop. Nobody in the west gave a fuck about FSR, because they think it's a cooking mama game. FSR is a multi layered plot. The game just wouldn't work had it revealed to you that the entire game is just a government conspiracy right from the start. Which is why FSR tries to pass itself off as some paradise hotel simulation game. Too bad with us gamers, we need to tell our audience straight up what the game is about. (Or else you'll be labeled as a kids game like FSR.)
I don't really have anything against NMH. I just get annoyed with how everybody got all hyped up about NMH, but straight up ignored FSR, because it's a "kiddy game".I agree. I liked no more heroes, I had fun with it, it was like "Oh, ok, just kill some dudes and have fun, after all this complex things about SC and FSR." (that is even more complex for us, we know only a few japanese lol) It works. If it's only one fuckin' chapter. I became negative about this when suda said that he wanted to do a no more heroes sequel. (with that other ass pretetious game that falls under the name "KURAYAMI") What I'm trying to say is that NMH is a variation to the canon, and the canon is SC/FSR (not only for the main plotline. I mean the general atmosphere/themes). If no more heroes becomes the canon, it won't work for me. Keep in mind, I said for me, probably the rest of the world would exult and label suda as a post-modern genious artist. lol it's true that most of the videogamers are social & political ignorants. But the funniest part is. That they actually belive to be geniouses. I get flamed every time I talk shit about MGS4. The answer is generally: "You don't like it, because you don't understeand it. If you weren't so ignorant, you would have noticed that it actually talks about real-life problems." Oh, yeah it talks about the war economy. But it also says that the war economy was created by a motha fuckin cock sucker goddamn ass satellite, and every single problem in the world is fault of a Major of CIA. LOL It's like if I give tha fault of the global warming to godzilla. It's a non-sense.
LOL, good point. though they did give SMT III Nocturne a good score, and that was a kick ass game. Brilliant art deco atmosphere. Shit they gave MGS4 a perfect score. It was like 1/4 game. The rest was all movie. That 1/4 game sucks more than the cinematics IMHO lol, you know what it reminded me of? Thos NES and SNES games with all different gameplay situations. Like, first a platform level, then the car driving level, then the fighting level etc. As you agreed some time ago. MGS3 had a pretty good gameplay. And great boss battles, like the one with the end. MGS4 gameplay is just basically 2 levels of demo for the online game (that is the true game) and some different shit putted there just to try to satisfy everyone. You follow the print foot, then you stand on the top of Drebin's van shooting zombies (yeah yeah they're crazy pmcs), then you chase a guy without getting noticed, then you have the bike chase, then you have a machine only-level, then you pilot mazinger against grendzinger, then you go on the ship and the game is over. The tragic part is. That the control scheme is good only for the first two levels (that are the online-demo levels). (That two levels aren't even fun. Because the level design sucks so much. You have 900 possible roads and 899 bring you to death or to an alert phase. And in 1, you are invisible and you can finish the level in 16 minutes or some shit lol. The only well designed level is shadow moses. And you don't do anything but throwing chaff granades and run.) So I don't really understrand the full score, but whatever, they gave it also to Kingdom Hearts II, with the fuckin' mickey mouse being a pretentious ass jedi knight LOL Oh shit I've gone OT again.
It works. If no more heroes becomes the canon, it won't work for me.That's basically my stance as well. I saw NMH as a little detour like P3 was to the original Persona games. Imagine my disappointment when Persona 4 happened to look, feel, & sound just like P3. Completely erasing the identity of previous Persona games. At least with Persona, the story was already wrapped up with P2 EP when the game ended with Maya keeping her knowledge of the masquerade to herself. Atlus didn't even need to make any new sequels. So you could pretty much ignore P3, & P4, and pretend that the only Persona games that exist are Be your true Mind, Innocent Sin, & Eternal Punishment. Suda's SC games on the other hand are still ongoing. It hasn't reached a conclusion yet. Hell the final chapter of Silver Case 25 Ward wasn't even released until April 2008. (SC 25 Ward started way back in 2006) As for Kurayami. I'm pretty sure that most investors realize how inane that game sounds. I highly doubt that Suda would ever get the funding to make that game. Not unless he gets mega popular with Fatal Frame IV or the Kojima game that he plans on doing.
I get flamed every time I talk shit about MGS4. The answer is generally: "You don't like it, because you don't understeand it. If you weren't so ignorant, you would have noticed that it actually talks about real-life problems."It used to happen to me all the time. I don't bother to talk about video game stories outside of this forum anymore. It's a waste of time trying to talk about non game play oriented discussion when it comes to videogames. A lot of gamers get their knowledge about world issues from videogames, so naturally their mental acuity is a bit skewed & biased towards their teachers. (Teachers being someone like Kojima or Suda.)
That 1/4 game sucks more than the cinematics IMHO lol, you know what it reminded me of? Thos NES and SNES games with all different gameplay situations. Like, first a platform level, then the car driving level, then the fighting level etc.Sounds like Golgo 13. http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=wDHs5yrusXQ That game sucked, but it was still pure AWESOME, because it was golgo 13 and he shagged chicks in a NES game that was actually endorsed with the nintendo seal of quality. It also helps that G13 actually had a plot that made sense. MGS 4 had good cinemas. (For a brain dead blockbuster hollywood movie.) It's just too bad the story revolving around the cinematics sucked ass, and made no fucking sense. I'm not talking about "not making sense" the David Lynch/Suda 51/Takashi Miike way either. MGS4 was confusing like anime/xenosaga confusing. As in "Who wrote this pos!"
Oh, yeah it talks about the war economy. But it also says that the war economy was created by a motha fuckin cock sucker goddamn ass satellite, and every single problem in the world is fault of a Major of CIA. LOLThe involvement of the CIA makes sense, not exactly the part about a lowly MAJOR in the cia though, hah hah.
It's like if I give tha fault of the global warming to godzilla. It's a non-sense.Santa Claus is really just a Jewish conspiracy to paint Christians as shallow religious hypocrites plagued by consumerism, & the ego of their knowledge of the one true god & so called religion. Mother Mary was not a saint, nor was she the mother. In fact Jesus was actually born from an egg of the great mother Anatylenia of the Sky Marnohk confederation from Space Age 3021 AG of the Palmanaian starship. A starship that crash landed on Earth, but was publicly known as a shooting star. this is in fact a reference to the end of times when Lucifer was still a little boy shoving insects inside little japanese boys mouths. The bugs that the little japanese kids ingested in turn, transformed them into demi fiend, demon hybrids. Who are to be the harbingers of the coming evil from the east. In preparation for the great one in the sky. You laymen, may know him as the flying spaghetti monster, but in my country we know him as Erghttraatt Surgokii the 3rd.
As you can see from this mural, Erghttratt is depicted with a Ipod.
Ipods were originally developed as technology to download souls into handheld portable device. This kept us a step further from the pack for we still flee in fear of the floating Wolf known as Redman who inhabits the theater of a center for the soul hacker inside a computer simulation known as Paradigm X.
For you see, I've seen visions. These visions, these visions They make me sad with grief AND ANGER. Not just any ANGER, AN UNCONTROLLABLE ANGER!
The fall of civilization as we know it was at the helm by a god killer who was once known as Kratos. Yes, that Kratos, he discovered a way to teleport through time & challenged the gods of war, uesugi Kenshin, & Guan Yu to a war. A war in the form of a game of Checkers.
Kratos won the war, why you may ask? Kenshin only understood how to play Go, and Guan Yu was too used to playing Chinese Checkers.
Unfortunately for them. Kratos challenged them to Checkers played under Western rules. Kratos won the battle with ease, he is truly the GOD of all GODs of war.
Ah yes I forgot to tell you. the reason I know all of this is because I'm part of the Santa Claus conspiracy.
For you see the world you are living in is only a hallucination.
In effect you are living in hell, and this world called Earth was fabricated so you consumerists can chase empty dreams, and remain trapped within a state of conformity.
BTW, I'm also your father, your mother, and Dr. Clark who is a man in the form of a woman, and I killed your parents Jack.
Please, please don't blame me. I had not choice. It was my job.
Santa Claus put me up to it, because he knew that the Jews would
LOLed i told you wii sucks so are their creators, PR and evryone ehy all sucklol I always say they are a bunch of noobs, they make so many stupid things like they never released earthbound 3 stateside, tingle rupee land stateside cus they asked their stupid fanboys in s survey, they don't even play games, I saw nintendo's e'3 2k8 that was a piece of shit what a shame ninten, and who was the woman she just looked like a clown ":" now that comment that nintendo is kiddy can be applied luls
Which then lead to chaos & mis communication. Much like the actual K7 game itself. Quote:lol that is the reason you mentioned killer 7 cus there are some people that care what happens every moment or every scene in a game and in killer 7 that shit just happens luls xS ;P
ask him all the connections between his games to prove that you are right, but I think he will tell you not to tell the fans cus they would not understand it, like diplomats luls cus they know a lot of shit but they don't tell it to the public lulzPeople can choose to believe me or not. I couldn't care less either way. All that matters to me is that I already know that Suda's games are connected. (Moonlight Syndrome, Silver Case, FSR, Silver Case 25 Ward) I even have the evidence to prove that Suda himself has admitted that his games share the same universe. Unfortunately the statements are in Japanese. Which is why people choose not to believe me. Suda even goes on to explain that Firepro Wrestling has nothing to do with his Moonlight Syndrome/Silver case/FSR universe. For real though check some of our most recent Silver Case, & FSR threads. You'll definitely get impression that the games share the same universe after reading some of our most recent threads. It's not that the games are connected. They're actually part of the same series. (They share the same world, same characters, same timeline. Moonlight Syndrome happened first, SIlver Case happened soon after, FSR occurs two years later, SC 25 Ward happens after FSR.) Basically some of Suda's games share a timeline that's as massive as the Suikoden series. All the suikoden games are connected to one chronological timeline. All of Suda's Kill the Past games are connected to the same timeline. Note: They're not officially called Kill the Past. I don't think these games have an official name.
I think he will tell you not to tell the fans cus they would not understand it, like diplomats luls cus they know a lot of shit but they don't tell it to the public lulzI think so as well. Which sucks for me, because I'm stuck here looking like a delusional lunatic, because barely anybody believes that these games share the same universe. I agree that Suda withholds information, because his fans wouldn't understand it. When Suda was speaking about the Emir impostor. It kinda seemed like he was alluding to Kamui/silver eyes or what not when he claimed that he was not Emir, but then admits that he looks like Emir, and that there's a special reason for that, but Suda's ends his answer by not telling the reason. If you read this thread, and then try to connect it to what you see during NMH. forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1190" target="_blank">http://killer7.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1190 It most definitely sounds like Suda was referring to Kamui when trying to explain the Emir wannabe.
I have a feeling that Suda maybe knows about this site it s the the only site about his games I know lulzThere's a lot of Japanese GHM fansites out there. Most of them cover the same games that I cover. (MS,SC,FSR,K7, & NMH) http://osaka.cool.ne.jp/dij_no/ http://www005.upp.so-net.ne.jp/silvercase/index.htm Korean FSr fan site http://bahamute.com/fsr/ As for English sites. Try this site. http://bloody-heartland.net/ Most people prefer her site over mine. Not that I give a madfuck. I don't make this shit for the fans. I work on K7 SIN, because I'm intrigued by Suda's world that he has created with MS,SC,FSR,K7, etc. This site started as my own personal investigation into the political relations of K7. I get laughed at a lot by dumbasses, because of my political assertions. Which happen to be proved on the fucking Japanese K7 official site, lol. (This further shows to I that most people have no idea what's going on in Killer 7. They just pretend that they do. Which often leads to a number of K7 fans making fun of I, because I'm so confident that I'm correct.) K7 SIN now lives on as my personal investigation into the bigger world that Killer 7 was inspired from. (Silver Case) I highly doubt that Suda knows about this site (This site is pretty much ignored in general, because this site sucks. Most people only link to the plot faq, or the hardcore gaming article.) I mean if Suda did, then he'd realize that some of us Westerners prefer his more serious writing style (SC,FSR,MS) over his over the top parody crap like Michigan/NMH. Although I'm pretty sure that some people who interview Suda are aware of this site. Some of the questions that I see people asking. The questions seemed to have somehow originated from this site, and then were spread around to bigger websites & communities. (Such as gamefaqs or neogaf.) All of whom saying a different interpretation of what I said. Diluting my original point in the process. So by the time the question gets to Suda51, what we're left with are journalists who end up asking vague/general questions that were based off of my original assertions. Which leads to Suda answering in the most literal of terms, because they were not being specific enough with their inquiries. (In other words Suda ends up providing us with answers that are just as vague as the question that are being proposed to him.) Note: I don't actually believe that my site sucks. I love it, but from a fan's pov. It does suck, because this site is more like a research site rather than a fan site.
