Flow of culture, politics, death and life in K7
I'm starting a new article which is gonna be a bit different from my last. I hope to cover some of the more general points being made by this game rather then what individual events mean. Flow of culture, politics, death and life in K7 True Grave a member here at the Killer7 Syndicate forums said something that got me thinking. He mentioned that Killer7 was more about mental decay and suffering then just someone taking a bullet in the head and dying quickly. At first glance K7 may seem like its all about quick assassin jobs, but as I think about all of the events in the game I realize this is not the case. First off I'm gonna look not at the way characters died but rather the kind of reaction the common player is inspired to have by the death. The boss of Angel no way invokes sympathy, mostly due to Harmans badass line before the fight(goodnight child its past your bedtime),and by the way Kun starts talking dementedly(you think you killed me better think again)after she loses her wings. Next we have Fukishima and Julia. Even though Mr. Fukishima in no way deserved to be capped somehow the his death in the context of the game creates no sympathy in my mind and probably not in most players minds mostly due to the fact you were assigned to kill him from the start and due to the awesome wheelchair dodge Harman does immediately after spouting a badass one liner. Your not even given a chance to feel bad for Fukishima. Not only that but somehow even after seeing his corpse upon re-entering the room somehow you still don’t feel that bad. Julia simply doesn’t invoke sympathy because in no way does she deserve it considering her situation, not only that but after having an intense fire-fight with her it’s a relief to watch her hit the floor. In Cloudman we see Andrei beg for his own death and then when he doesn’t receive it in time he become one of the heaven smile. Personally when I was playing the game I found Ulmeda to be an ok guy but yet do mostly to watching his ghost speak in a tone which seemed to convey no sadness or regret, so yes he doesn’t convey sympathy to me ether. I'm gonna skip the next four chapters as you probably know where I'm going with this portion of the article. Part of the reason I and many others don’t feel sympathy for these characters is due to the way they always appear again in ghost form. Most characters in this game never really leave so the focus I believe is not on the fear or sadness involved with death. Also notice the way in the actual game play all the main Killers can be brought back from the dead I believe this too supports my next notion. I think what this game is about is the degrading of life not the loss of it. Dead is dead how the life was lived is what is important. The whole world in Killer7 is corrupt and is always being manipulated by a higher political power this is were K7 really hits home,I'm not worried about assassins killing me in real life the thought never crosses my mind but thoughts about how my government might make a bad decision that effects me or how some greedy high class business men might be hurting me financially or someone I care for do pop into my head,I like many gamers I imagine are in the middle or lower class and should be weary of such things. Death seems to come and go in this game all the time in this game yet doesn’t raise any interest. But towards the end of the game when we learn of the way Emir/Garcian was manipulated where effected by it. Kind of odd considering he's still alive and well meanwhile we watched or heard about a great deal of people dying in the game yet these situations don’t come close to garnering the effect the truth about Garcian had on us. The political surounding we live in ultimatly effects the quality of life we have. Death is something they can't control and many of the dead characters feel releaved after being iced. Death will come whether we like it or not it could come today or 60 years from now, the real tragedy is not living life to its fullest. Killer7 taught me to look a little deeper into things and to consider all possibilities. The part that is really scary about K7 is that we watch Kun try to start a revolution, many people die, and a man decide the fate of the East and West, but what in truth changed about society.....nothing except how much we the player know. So live life, keep yours eyes and ears open, Killer7 to me shows the way society hasn't changed but the possibility that it could if we arm are selves with the only thing that freed Garcian from the facade the government created.....knowledge. The End.

Re: Flow of culture, politics, death and life in K7
I was actually waiting for you to finish your editorial, but it's been a couple of days. I'd like to see the finished product some day since I like your writing style. It really gets one thinking. Although I may not agree with it, I still think it's a nice piece of work. The following is not a critique (I think your article is perfect the way it is. It just needs to be completed) , I'm just adding in my two cents. ---- Actually I don't see much meaning to their deaths at all. To me all I see is a bunch of people getting capped & falling dead right after. Sometimes I find their deaths rather comical. (Benjamin Keane, Mills being stereotypically shot right before he says something important. Mills even makes a joke about it in his ghost form.) The only person who you can feel sympathy for is Garcian Smith, & even then he's just a hitman who would kill you for the right price. You can probably feel some smphathy for Matsuken's death since he worked so hard to keep Japan alive & then just gets capped in the head. However I get too much of a laugh everytime I see him make that arrogant ass face only to get his brains shot out in a mere second. It's the reasoning behind their deaths that matters most. Why were they kiiled, Why were they "Target"ed. (In Japan Targets are called "New order".) The prime example being Mills. In Japan's K7 wikipedia page http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killer_7 in Linda Vermilion's bio they say that "Mills was killed because he knew too much." IMO It's not actually what he knew that got him killed. It was what he was planning to do with his knowledge that caused him to be killed. Mill's was about to tell Garcian the secret behind his identity. Which happens to be the key that keeps Garcian Smith loyal to the government. (The key being Garcian's loyalty to Harman Smith & the Killer 7. Only to find out that he is Killer 7 & the reality that he knew was a lie propageted to him by the government.) By contrast Fukushima was targetted by the Killer 7 because he was planning to recitify the relationship between the United States & Japan. Julia was sent to kill Fukushima in order to stop him from creating further disorder. (Or at least disorder from the Liberal party point of view.) Thr French guy was sent to kill Fukushima in order to disrupt the United States/ Japan peace talks. In the end, the Killer 7 & Dupaul weren't needed since the United States killed the liberal party members who attended the meeting. (Actually the Japanese & United States representatives killed each other in a mexican stand off.) Though Grave is right about mental decay & suffering when you think about it. Julia Kisugi herself said that she was glad that Garcian killed her, because it freed her of a lifetime being treated as a simple tool for higher ups within her government. The boss of Angel no way invokes sympathy, mostly due to Harmans badass line before the fight(goodnight child its past your bedtime),and by the way Kun starts talking dementidly(you think you killed me better think again)after she looses her wings. That boss battle most likely takes place in a higher realm of reality alien to our own. A common theme in Suda 51's Kill the Past games is that there are usually several people in the game who operate solely within the spiritual realm. When ever Harman & Kun Lan are seen in the same scene. Their plane of reality is probably at it's highest peak. Next we have Fukishima and Julia. Even though Mr. Fukishima in no way deserved to be capped somehow the his death Killer 7 wouldn't have much of a story if Fukushima didn't die. Since he was going to barter the Yakumo cabinent policy in order to convince the United States to unleash the fireworks before the nukes hit Japan. in the context of the game creates no sympathy in my mind and probaly not in most players minds I don't think the game was trying to make anyone feel emotion at all. The tone of Killer 7 is sarcastic in general & the only emotions that it seemed it wanted you to feel was unease & bewilderment. Killer 7 feels more like a raving lunatic whispering "Kill yourself mothafucka." in your ear while he screws & multilates your wife rather than a preacher foretelling parables of morality. (Metal Gear Solid.)

True Grave- 05-12-2007

I appreciate this thread Dale, I feel like I have a new friend! Yes, I do feel strongly that Killer 7 is more about mental decay. The entire game is essentially one person's mind slowly rotting, then at the very last second, he get all his cards together (I'm gonna deal you a killer hand! Godhand's K7 joke) and is whole again. I also want to hear more Dale, I feel that you ahve once again created a great K7 topic to discuss. And Topdrunkee gets 100 more hero points for yet another MGS insult! But I'll agree that the Angel boss was not on "Earth." Its too strange to consider it existing on our physical plane. Even if its classified as the origin of the Heaven Smile. The only reason that works is because it looks like an Angel from Heaven. I actually was shocked to see Fukushima die so quickly. I'd figure he'd have some more screen time before he'd get off'ed. But Topdrunkee has a point, if he wasn't killed there wouldn't be much of a story, politically. Yet we won't ever see what could happen if Fukushima lived, or if the Peace Talks didn't break down. Obviously Chapter 2 has the biggest role in the political story. Julia Kisugi, I indeed had no sympathy for when she was iced. Despite her attractive demeanor, it was refreshing to see the K7 fight her, then she pulls the plug on herself. I mean its not just enough to be beaten, but to kill yourself also? Two deaths indeed. I don't want to jump ahead in the chapters, because I want Dale to speak before I do, but I'm sure he's got alot to say about the Cloudman.

Jedilink- 05-13-2007

Well when the game came out everyone was all saying "it's so incredibly violent!" and YEAH it is but it's often not done to be super serious. Some things like when...well It's a good ways into the game I don't know if I should skip ahead yet! I HAVE noticed though that a LOT of people....BLOW UP in the game. I love when people just COMPLETELY blow up. Especially if there's no reason for them to blow up. But there's the girl and the guy in the first level and then Julia...on and on...

Dalemushashi- 05-13-2007

Sorry guys I've been quite busy recently and havent had a chance to work on this for awhile. I'm gonna start working on it more right now. Thanks for all the comments, I havent really gotten into some of the main points I'm trying to get across yet, but about to get to it.

Dalemushashi- 05-13-2007

MAIN POST UPDATED. If theirs something I didn't explain well enough please tell me and I'll try to elaborate. Ran through spell check. QOUTE:I don't think the game was trying to make anyone feel emotion at all. The tone of Killer 7 is sarcastic in general & the only emotions that it seemed it wanted you to feel was unease & bewilderment. " Exactly, the lack of emotional connection the player should feel is what I was trying to point out in that portion of the article. Later in the article I point out the reason for the unease and bewilderment. The game conveys these feelings because its trying to show you to be a little scared or uneasey about the world around you and that less noticible things that cause these emotions should be taken note of in soceity. Bewilderment is used to make you think about stuff more, modern media trys to simplify things and make them less confusing, Killer7 makes you think that theirs just a little something more to certaint events thus making you more aware that theirs just a little more happening then what may seem.

KIRBY 7- 05-16-2007

For some reason this thread you made happens to be the 3rd search result you get when you type in Killer 7 SINdicate at google. Beautiful, just beautiful...heh heh. That's precisely the reason why I can't stand it that not enough people care about politics. If more people did maybe than they would finally realize that most of the news & media (specifically the ones in the United States) is mostly an orchestrated show or gesture made to look like a Hollywood version of our reality. I just came back to the United states from Asia (Japan & Guam) a couple months ago, & I'll tell y'all shit sure has changed around here. Everybody seems to be more paranoid & in a state of anxiety than usual. (Which in turn makes them easier to be controlled.) People honestly believe that they will be killed by terrorists when it's actually the higher echelons of the United States government that they should be worried about. BTW I was never too worried about social classes back when I was in Japan, because I was upper middle class. ever since I came back to the State I'm nothing more than lower mid class/lower class. It's hilarious though since I look & appear to be richer than most people around my area yet I'm almost always broke. One thing I forgot about the United States is that this country is controlled by Identity & Social politics. Which relate with Ethnic distinctions & the like. Washington state is the first time I have ever experienced the Real United States of America. I can actually pin point a complete class distinction based on nationality & ethnicity. The Blacks,Arabs,South Asians & Mexicans are most noticeably at the bottom of the food chain. White is most obviously at the top, with East Asian (Usually Korean, Northern Chinese or Japanese) being at 3rd or 2nd tier. Although socially, East Asian is at the very bottom. Mainly, because the other Ethnic minorities discriminate against East Asians in the U.S. The reason is because other Ethnic minorities are annoyed at how some East Asians (Due to either their credentials or hard work) are actually able to attain the status as Honorary Whites. Part of the reason of why there are so few East Asians still is because of the rampant racism that occurs from the in fighting of the Ethnic minorities. (Which IMO is also part of the Great plan or bigger "picture" to keep the Ethnic minorities controlled with their petty emotions, identity crisis & overt nationalism.) The other reason being that East Asia in the United States has been mystified with extreme exoticness's to such an exaggerated degree that nobody really takes East Asians seriously. We see them as more of a cartoon character or characterture rather than actual living human beings The game conveys these feelings because its trying to show you to be a little scared or uneasey about the world around you and that less noticible things that cause these emotions should be taken note of in soceity. Bewilderment is used to make you think about stuff more, modern media trys to simplify things and make them less confusing, Killer7 makes you think that theirs just a little something more to certaint events thus making you more aware that theirs just a little more happening then what may seem. Heh heh, well said. You should really become a writer for the site some time. I need individuals to establish other theories of Killer7 that are alien from my own or the plot faq. In order to give people a choice in what to believe. I'm aiming for the final version of K7 SIN to look something like this. http://www.mulholland-drive.net/studies/theories.htm (Although I'm still in the process of writing my theory at the K7 story page.) Btw this link here seems to correlate with what is being expressed in Killer 7. http://www.signs-of-the-times.org/signs/signsguide.htm Here's another link that seems to be a real life equivalent of "Jaco's checkbox' from Hand in Killer 7. http://www.cassiopaea.org/cass/waveindex.htm Like "jaco's checkbox" this woman can only ascertain traces or edges of the big picture (world) ahead of us. Timeline of our world. http://www.cassiopaea.org/cass/timeline.htm It's funny how much of it reads like fiction, but imo this is the genuine article of objective truth. (Without bias or manipulation from the governments of the world.) I almost forgot, do you have any pictures that could go along well with this editorial? (Most preferably a pic that makes an ironic statement or what not. In my Linda file I just use images of Meiko Kaji, in Cowmurai I use images of a Cowboy & Samurai. -Although I need to rewrite that file. I also need to delete some others such as Eastern threat file since the Eastern dilemma is too big to contain all of it's complexities into one page.) Before I end this post I'd like to just point out that Silver Case also has a similar creed to K7 that expresses corruption within the government & how of us are just statistics or pawns caught in between. Tetsugoro himself was unknowingly used as a cover up for the Silver Case murders. (The Silver Case are actually a collection of stories about the NWO: New World Order & how we're affected by the cause & the effect every day.)

Dalemushashi- 05-16-2007

I noticed that thing about google too, could be that File 7 includes "7" in its title and my thread the title "Killer7"or"K7" is written repeatedly unlike the two spam threads that were up. It also has a long ass title that also has "7" written in it, plus the title of the thread has a whole bunch of common key words in it so it probaly gets more hits through google. Just guessing though. Anywho if you go with that first site setup its gonna need allot of articles. Maybe with some incouragement some of the other members here will do some write ups. It wouldnt look quite as sweet with only a few, but it is damn snazzy looking layout. I like the screen shots idea. I'll get some images for my Simple Metaphors article, I could even get a small pick to go with each paragraph(the screen shot will show an image from whatever scene the paragraph next to it is depicting). I dont know how to rip my own pictures so i'll probaly just capture some images from the High-rez cutscenes Sal made available(with his permission of course) and put them in the article. I already have some images in mind for this article already too. If someone could tell me of some free Video to still Image capturing techiques I could use for free that would be great.(I'm not 100% sure how to do it so some directions would be great). Anyway glad you liked the article :D . I enjoy your writing too.

KIRBY 7- 05-16-2007

I'm not going for that exact layout, what I meant is that I want a presentation of choice. I think 4 or 5 is good enough. (The plot faq & my own interpretation basically cover most of the solid structure that pieces the story together anyway.) The ability for web surfers to pick & choose what they want to believe. (Although I believe that my version is the most correct, I still want to offer a choice anyway.) Once I'm finally done writing my story & confidential pages, I'll prolly just make a couple of Joke theories that still make sense, when used in context with what we already know about K7. As for pictures you don't need to grab them from the game. It could just be some random pic from the internet. This is a good example. http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/cowmurai.htm I just made that photo out of photo shop. (I need to re write this entire file, since I recently found out that Japan got screwed by the United States during a League of Nations meeting shortly after WW I. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRmM7K8URJ4 Japan was trying to abolish racism. Japan won the majority of the vote, but they were overruled by the United States of America. Now that's raw ultimate power, heh heh.) The Hitler pic I used here http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/rundown.htm is comical as hell yet it expresses the point clearly. For a man who was said to be a psycho. He sure knew how to express himself eloquently. The Linda Vermilion photos I used here are most striking. http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/linda.htm When I first saw her in the game I didn't really think of her as Japanese, until I saw her uncanny resemblance to Mary http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/quickgirl.htm from Quick Girl. Which in turn was inspired by Meiko Kaji. Note: I seriously need to reformat the FIle pages, because the font looks horrible. Btw this link here seems to correlate with what is being expressed in Killer 7. http://www.signs-of-the-times.org/signs/signsguide.htm Here's another link that seems to be a real life equivalent of "Jaco's checkbox' from Hand in Killer 7. http://www.cassiopaea.org/cass/waveindex.htm Like "jaco's checkbox" this woman can only ascertain traces or edges of the big picture (world) ahead of us. Timeline of our world. http://www.cassiopaea.org/cass/timeline.htm Those sites above weren't meant to be used as lay out examples. I actually want people here to read & sink in what's contained in those pages. Since Killer 7 itself seems to directly mimic what has been written there.

Dalemushashi- 05-17-2007

Thats quite depressing. I've noticed the racism against east-asians too, they are a perfect example of pure hard-work and determination beating a constructed predjeduce social system. I dont beleive that people can be born be with such a better brain that they can somehow learn allot more then somone who works just as hard(unless were talking about average brained people being compared to mentally challenged individuals). If anybody really wanted to they could be become just as academicly successful as an East-Asian person, but most people just dont have the work ethic. On the issue of government control I'd like to say that I'm not the most clever or politically aware person but just by simply thinking for a minute and considering all thats going on its really easy to see whats going on(most people just dont stop and think). What really scares me is the way the government can effect us at a very young age, they have say in what we learn in school, just recently the number of math and science credits needed to graduate went up while the number of political science and marketing credits required went down. So rather then kids gaining street smarts about how human's operate big bussiness or politics they simply learn more about formulas and aquations, I believe that math and science arent as important as bussiness or public relation knowledge. You aint making much money doing math or sceince work unless you know a thing or two about business. EDIT:One of Freud's big thoeries or suggested concepts was that people's mental setup's, basic beleifs, fears, wants were for the most part are exstablished when we are very young. I find this true to an extent, but I find that people really dont become who they truly are till early 30's but allot of values and other things are created in are minds when were young. If the government gets their ideals into the public at a young age it makes them a shitload easier to manipulate later. I'm 18 an autheist and pretty mature guy, no awesome speech Bush does(not that he'll ever do one) or some really nicely written book will change my core values a whole lot(certaint tramatizing events may do this to me). Your a fully-grown adult too I'd imagine so your probaly not gonna be effected by stuff like that ether unless they make a really good point. We have little to worry about when it comes to the government tricking us(as aware as we are) but really young people dont know how to disregard something a respected adult they know says or something a popular cartoon character says. But something I've realized about me you and every other person on earth is that we've all been affected by are surroundings. Every piece of clothing I own, Video Game I like can be traced back to a reason for me liking it(the same goes for stuff I dislike, their are reasons why I dont like those things too),whether it may be something genetic or because of morale lessons interlaced into my mind, it cannot be avoided, are surroundings and ancestors make us who we are and theirs nothing we can do about. Sorry about the rant.

KIRBY 7- 05-19-2007

Thats quite depressing. I think that's just the way of life. In the U.S. the ethnic minorities are set up from the beginning to kill each other off for rather inane reasons. That's why ethnic minority gangs are so rampant. The governments choose not to suppress them completely since the Gangs are too ignorant or arrogant to realize or comprehend that they are actually being used by the governments that they rebel against to ethnically cleanse the "hoods" that they represent. Actually I believe the supposed assertion of East Asian intellectual dominance has been greatly exaggerated. One just needs to look at the current Asian geo political conflicts in the East asian hemisphere to see how childish (Or at least the governments) really are. The main dominating powers of East Asia all try to utilize their past history as political "wild cards" to keep the rival nations in check. (The twist here is that China, Korea & Japan all rely on historical revision & media manipulation.) I'm not trying to stereotype anybody, but most Asians I've seen only know how to copy what the "pack" or the common consensus does. It just so happens that they do it in a way that's either more efficient or different & original than the current standard. Case in point, Japanese cars & electronics. Most of which happened to be derived from Western technologies, but have been expanded upon on. I'm mostly asian. (My genetic make up is still confusing IMO. Since I have a lot of traits that would label me as Asian, as well as many others that would certify I as Caucasian. The rest would classify I, as Latin.) but I was never good at math nor science. (I have street smarts. The only other thing I'm good at is artistic crap..) Both of which happen to be systematic trains of thought. The main reason why Asians are so smart in those two particular fields is because they thrive on constant repetition & have high memorization skills. Which is what math requires. (Science itself relies on mathematics) Yet you don't see very many creative asian philosophers & free thinkers. (Not recently at least. There were many during the Chinese empire days.) The reason being is because people in Asian societies are raised not to think outside of the bubble, but rather to live & reside within the bubble along with everybody else who is not in power. I think most Asians are only godly geniuses when it comes to practical or systematic knowledge. What really scares me is the way the government can effect us at a very young age, they have say in what we learn in school, That is a concern especially when I see how kids in Asia (specifically South Korea) are taught from an early age to hate whitey & jappy, & basically anybody who does not conform with their world view. I think the main dilemma with the education system is that half the shit they teach you at schools are practically irrelevant in the real world. (Which is exactly what you said.) Yet at the same time you can't get anywhere in the world with out a piece of paper that says you graduated from some shit faced school that resembles a nursery home more than it does a teaching institute. I find it comical how I can learn more about life & how to manipulate the human psyche (Which would be useful in the business world) just from reading Adolf Hitler quotes than I ever could have with my measly 9 yrs. of education. (I'm a drop out, lol.) I believe that math and science arent as important as bussiness or public relation knowledge. You aint making much money doing math or sceince work unless you know a thing or two about business. Damn straight. If the government gets their ideals into the public at a young age it makes them a shitload easier to manipulate later. That was actually the basis of my Linda Vermilion file, & why Coburn elementary was created. The minds of the young & impressionable are far easier to coerce rather than trying to teach an old dog new tricks. We have little to worry about when it comes to the government tricking us(as aware as we are) I'm pretty much not effected by anything or anyone, since my whole thought process was created by my own volition. When I was a teenager I used to be controlled by my emotions & guilt. As well as compassion. (I think all teens are controlled by their compassion.) I learned to suppress my emotions & now my mind is pretty much a blank state that only sees numbers, statistics & goals. It's a whole lot easier to rationalize your actions when you don't think of people as people. (As fucked as that sounds, heh heh.) I don't worry about the "government" at all. I'm no threat to their m.o. Even if I were I would just join their cause since I'm unsatisfied with the current hegemony of the world anyway. What I do worry about is a martial law police state. That's something that can't be avoided just by ignoring it since half of the worlds people only see what they can at face value. BTW this forum did get a rather weird ass post the other day. (It was a couple weeks ago.) Somebody left a post at the movie forum, but it was dated in 1370, & when I checked the forum there was no post there, lol. I made a screen cap of the odd post, but I can't remember where I stored it. (It's prolly in my K7 files.) Shit was weird. it was like a Suda 51 game come to life, lol. (In Sliver Case,FSR & K7 there's at least one person or identity in the game with an inconsistent birth date.) Of course it's just a glitch in the system. I just want to know who made the post, since the post was still invisible even when I was in administrator mode. (Meaning that they didn't have a verifiable IP address. True for the most part. I just do what I find is most effective. I often wear suits, because it grants moi authority. I speak a certain way because it will grant you more authority. (On the streets I speak ebonics, because it helps I relate more with the minorities. In all white neighborhoods I speak with a plain mid western American accent to blend in.) Is mostly based around manipulation. I learned that if I dress & speak a certain way that I would get more respect & privileges & to a certain extent I do. Which is mostly attributed to the way I "present" myself. Most people either think I'm some foreign celebrity, music artist, or some rich guy. Although my family was rich at a time. (My mom's side is descended from a female Spanish aristocrat, & my pop's side were a rich family residing in Manila who IMO were most likely of mixed Central Asian or Japanese origin.) Too bad I wasn't alive to experience it, lol.
