Flower, Sun and Rain DS remake on the way
I just saw this seconds ago in a famitsu news thread on neogaf DS | 花と太陽と雨と (With flowers, sun and rain) MMV, Spring 2008 - port of PS2 game announced in 2001 - more than 50 new mysteries http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=8739567&postcount=1 Oh, also No more heroes got a 34/40 score, it seems nice to me.

KIRBY 7- 11-28-2007

Good news indeed. I encourage everybody to pick this game up, if it get translated into English. FSR was even more "art house" than K7 was.

Azimuth- 11-28-2007

That's some interesting news indeed if this gets translated into English it's on my must buy list. But it's really interesting that after all this years Grasshopper ports it's titles to other platforms. If I remember correctly then Silver Case is also being ported. Good times are upon!

Fulgor- 11-28-2007

Here are some scans, enjoy it until they last:

KIRBY 7- 11-29-2007

The graphics look almost exactly the same. (Which is a good thing.) Thankfully the one thing they did improve on was the character proportions. (In the PS2 game, everybody had fucking huge ass feet & hands like FF 7.) Damn, Toriko looks pretty cute in that 2nd scan. Looks like we get more chances to play as her as well. (It's still shocking to moi, that she's like the Kun Lan of this game.) - more than 50 new mysteries I can't wait for that. I wonder if any of the new mysteries will directly tie in with Killer 7. FSR & SC are already heavily embed with each other. K7 had a few FSR references & cameos, so I could imagine at least one of the new FSR missions at least making a subtle reference to Killer 7. Especially since both Ed & Sumio are in this game. It would be friggin' badass if you actually get to play as Garcian Smith in one scene. (He would still be the Killer 7 by then. Since K7 takes place in 2010 or was it 2007? Although the time line of Killer 7 is drastically different from Silver Cases. The timeline in Silver Case is more similar to our own.) I could imagine Garcian becoming a playable character, because you end up controlling two detectives from the Silver Case anyway. (After Sumio dies.) Garci would most likely show up during the part when Toriko & Sundance have one of those motha fucking crazy ass "Harman Smith/Kun Lan talks" with each other. Shit this FSR port/remake & Nobunaga's Ambition Rise to Power are the two games that I'm looking forward to the most. Unlike Silver Case I can imagine a pretty competent translation for this game, because it's not as text heavy as SC. (FSR is more about exploration & solving the mystery of Lospass.) If I remember correctly then Silver Case is also being ported. Good times are upon! Yup, and you should buy both, SC & FSR. If only because both games are story related with each other. (FSR actually takes place two years after the first Silver Case game. FSR revolves around one of the many conspiracies from SC. There are at least 8 characters from Silver Case who reprise their roles in FSR. Sumio being one of them.

True Grave- 11-30-2007

Sweet! This looks great! Heres to hoping that it will get translated!

Kitano Smith- 11-30-2007

It looks great. Those pictures of Toriko Kusabi and Mondo look great as well. I especially like Toriko's. I like how the smile is nuanced. And the hair and all. Never seen that pic before. The guidebook appears to be digital this time. Below this point is a series of questions that may or may not be stupid, but whatever: Hang on, so the player is actually the truck driver looking fellow? Peter Bocchwinkur? Is the silver eye some sort of 4th wall breaking device? Like Harman's TV (what the hell governs those switches. You?!) ? Heh... "Power Beach"...

KIRBY 7- 11-30-2007

The guidebook appears to be digital this time. The guidebook was always digital. It just so happens that there was also a real life guidbook that was based off of the one that Ed wrote in the game. (If I still had a youtube account I'd link you to many of my FSr videos where I actually use the in game guidebook in order to solve the puzzles of FSR.) Hang on, so the player is actually the truck driver looking fellow? Peter Bocchwinkur? In that scene you're actually controlling Sumio who is jacking into Peter's Silver eye. (He's giving Peter his birth date.) Peter Bocchwinkur's only purpose at Hotel FSR is that he's searching for someone & that she's been sighted at FSR. In FSR you only control Sumio Remy Yoshimitsu Toriko Toriko, Yoshimitsu & Sumio all come back for the Silver Case sequel called Silver Case 25 Ward. Is the silver eye some sort of 4th wall breaking device? Like Harman's TV (what the hell governs those switches. You?!) ? That's actually Sumio's Katherine brief case that is jacking into Peter's Silver Eye. LosPass resort is actually a breeding ground for Silver Eyes. There's a rare breed of hyena at Lospass who has eyes of Silver. The Hachisuka's cultivated, breeded & manufactured them. (The Hachisuka's were one of the families pulling the strings in Silver Case. Kaoru's daughter Chizuru Hachisuka was actually one of your teammates in the game. Or at least was until the final chapter when everybody started killing each other off due to political differences & disputes. (Much like how Killer 7 didn't have much to do with Kun Lan. In SIlver Case Uehara Kamui is actually killed off near the beginning of the final chapter. He's shot down by an assault squad.) Tokio Morishima is the only surviving member of the Hachisuka clan, but as you can tell from his name. He doesn't seem to give a mad fuck about the Hachisuka legacy & ran off with the classified notebook that contained top secret information about the Silver Case incident. Top secret information that incriminates Kaoru Hachisuka. The chief of the 24 Ward district, & the father of Chizuru & Tokio. (Chizuru's boyfriend Kiyoshi Morikawa gave the notebook to Toki. Moments before he was shot to death by Tetsugoro Kusabi. Kiyoshi mistakenly trusted Tokio with the book because Tokio is Chizuru Hachisuka's brother) Tokio Morishima is the key who has the knowledge to solve the mystery of Lospass's time loop. Although he did not get along with his family. He does present to Sumio the knowledge needed to break the time paradox of Lospass. (Sumio saved Tokio's life in the first Silver Case.) The true conflict in FSR is actually an information war that originated 30 to 40 yrs. prior to the events of FSR. The info war is mostly between the Hachisuka's & the remnants of the Sundance FSO party. The time has been distorted, because the only Hachisuka left is Tokio himself, and Sundance Shot has been hiding out at Lospass since even before the events of the Silver Case game. Sundance Shot is trying to steal Sumio's identity in order to escape to the outside world. I'm not exactly sure what a silver eye does. All I know is that it supposedly grants one immortality. (But not in the traditional sense.) The Silver Eye allows you to continue living by transmigrating your consciousness to stock bodies. (Homunculi) The only time that FSR breaks the 4rth wall is during the final plot twist of the ending. When we find out that Peter Bocchwinkur is actually Tetsugoro Kusabi (I'm not sure how to explain this. It's either that Peter was just a shell/homunculus, or that Sumio just has one f'ed up mind & he mistook one of his best friends for an overweight fat Caucasian man.) Once that revelation is made the general graphic style of FSR completely alters itself to look, play, feel, & sound like a typical mission in a Silver Case game. (It's basically alluding to the time when Tetsugoro & Sumio used to be partners as part of the Felonious 2nd Division. I think the game is trying to say that the ordeal at FSR was just like the old days when they used to solve mysteries together.) Peter actually being Tetsugoro indirectly hints that Peter was actually looking for Toriko Kusabi (His daughter) through out the entire duration of the game. What's weird IMO is that I always assumed that Tetsugoro was just a normal person (With a psychotic penchant for justice.), but the FSR ending reveals him to be just as fucked up as his daughter. Since he himself actually has a Silver Eye. (In the first Silver Case. Tokio & Tetsugoro were depicted to be normal people with no modifications made to their bodies. In FSR we find out that they both have Silver Eyes. Although you could've filled in the blanks with Tokio, since he's actually a blood relative of the Hachisuka.) The following are my thoughts about the events that we learn from the SC & FSR ----- SILVER CASE By the end of the first Silver Case we find out that Sumio was affected by the Moonlight syndrome. Sumio is arrested due to his terrorist acts that originated from the Moonlight Syndrome. (The syndrome not the game. Basically weird ass shit happens at the night of a crescent moon.) The Hachisuka clan participated in a conspiracy that sacrificed orphans & all undesirables of the 24 Ward in order to make new bodies suitable for Kamui (God) The FSO party disagreed with the CCO's policy to herd orphan's like cattle under the guise as a safehouse called the Shelter Children. So the Sundance FSO party tried to put a stop to the Hachisuka's by sending a hitman named Fujiwara Kamui to kill everybody at a TV Tower meeting. The hitman was actually one of the first to die & the other politicians killed each other after that, because they all went mad trying to salvage the dead hitman's body. For his SIlver Eye. After the Silver Case incident occurred. The Hachisuka's concocted a cover story that incriminated the Sundance FSO party. Which had them labeled as being nothing more than a bunch of corrupt gangsters masquerading as politicians. The smear campaign worked & Sundance's FSO party went belly up. Sundance disappeared after the FSO's collapse. (Only to find out that was hiding out at Hotel FSR all this time.) During the end of the game. We find out that many CCO/TRO members are actually remnants & double agents of the former FSO party. It's at this moment when all hell breaks loose, & practically everybody gets their asses shot down "Departed" style. Kenta Mikoshiba is one such example of a FSO double agent. He transferred to the Felonious division with Sakura Natsume (Sumio's replacement) By the end of the Silver Case. The only people still left standing are Tetsugoro Kusabi: Who killed practically everyone anyway. He even killed a main character from the moonlight Syndrome. Tetsugoro is our vigilante hero. Sumio Kusabi: He was arrested for a terrorist act that he master minded. That destoryed an entire city & the citizens who lived in it. Sumio is like the CID of Suda 51's Kill the Past universe. As he's appeared in every single game in one way or the other. Sumio wasn't physically in Killer 7, but Ed Mac does hint at Garcian as being one of Sumio's hosts. Sakura Natsume: Like Tetsugoro. She was the only other cop character in the game who wasn't part of a government conspiracy. So she too went renegade & started killing off remnants of the FSO party. She also killed Chizuru Hachisuka due to a long crude that they had with each other. (What it was I have no idea. Their grudge is never explained in game, because it's a direct reference to the Silver Case novel made after the game.) Tokio Morishima: He's a surprisingly muscular reporter. Who left the scene of the final chap. Shortly before all parties involved FSO remnants, CCO/TRO coalition, The Tramps, Independant: Sakura, Tetsugoro & AKIRA (The person who you play as.) went on a killing spree. He went to Lospass resort, but what he actually stepped into was a time paradox. Tokio Morishima is largely considered the true hero of the Silver Case. He also seems to be the most sane. (Followed by Sakura Natsume who is probably considered the lead female. I wouldn't know. Never played SC 25 Ward. It does seem that she has been elevated to lead role status though. Considering that Sakura actually has a novel about her & her assessment of Sumio. She was one of the first to notice how f'ng batshit insane Sumio actually is. In a sense Sumio & Garcian seem to be almost identical to each other in regards to thie mental make up. Garcian is a DID/MPD freak. Sumio & Tetsugoro are both delusional psychopaths.) Tokio Morishima is also the only reoccurring character who has never killed anybody. (YET) Sumio & Tetsu kill by the millions. Tetsugoro guns shit loads of people down, because he's a hardnose cop. With a fucked up code of justice. He's like Marvel comics The Punisher. Sumio is a womanizer & a manipulator & he can actually manipulates entire conglomerates to destroy their selves financially which therein results in more collateral damage. Sakura Natsume killed her rival Chizuru Hachisuka. (Sakura's dad was a police chief, but he was killed by Kamui. Sakura's dad is also the first person in the Silver Case to mention the Flower Sun & Rain.) Toriko Kusabi has also killed quite a substantial amount of people, but I'm not sure how to describe her. (There's a scene in FSR where Toriko asks why Sundance shot Sumio. After the cutscene. Toriko looks up to the sky, raises her hand & blows up an airplane with an airplane bomb inside.) I believe that the Toriko in FSR is just an image. (Like Maria in Silent Hill 2.) The real Toriko Kusabi doesn't actually show up until Silver Case 25 Ward. (Despite the fact that she has been referenced as an actual character since the first Silver Case game.) Sundance obviously has killed shit loads of people. Since he's normally depicted as the game's villain. Although in reality he's actually more sane then the rest of the Silver Case cast. He's one of those methodical, cold, calculating Cao Cao/Oda Nobunaga types who believes that the ends justifies the means. He's one of the few characters in the games who actually tries to make the world a better place. Unfortunately it's delusional psychopaths like Tetsugoro & Sumio who seem to always unknowingly fuck up most of Sundance's well cultivated designs. Shit, now this is why I want Suda 51 to concentrate more on his Silver Case/FSR series. The characters in these games are mental basket cases, lol I'll fill this post in later. As I'm trying to gather my thoughts about what transpired in SC & FSR.

Fulgor- 11-30-2007

The official website is open http://www.mmv.co.jp/special/game/ds/fsr/ Not much to see, only the two artworks from the last scans, maybe we could see some weekly updates ala no more heroes.

Visionnerz- 11-30-2007

Man the art is really good. Silver case character designs especially. Does anyone have a collection of the art in the original aspect ratio? Nothing stretched or altered?

mokoi- 12-01-2007

Oh i'm definitely getting this...as well as the SC game. Can't wait.

venom75x- 12-01-2007

if this game does get translated to english which game should i play first silver case or fsr to better understand the story?

Azimuth- 12-01-2007

Logic tells to play Silver Case as first because it was published earlier than FSR . As I'm not so sure about the time line in those games it just a guess.

KIRBY 7- 12-01-2007

The DS version of Silver Case is actually two games in one. (It comes with both the Silver Case & Silver Case 25 Ward. Kill the Past & Kill the Life.) if this game does get translated to english which game should i play first silver case or fsr to better understand the story? You won't be able to understand the story. I don't understand the story. Even to this day I still see Japanese (& even Korean) fansites trying to dissect what the hell was going on in FSR. Although basic knowledge of the lore, characters & mythology from Silver Case will aid you greatly in FSR. (The story doesn't make sense at all if you're not familiar with the shelter children policy, Sundance, Sumio, The Kusabi's, The Hachisuka's, the Silver Eye, & Uehara Kamui.) The plots for these games are like a water current. Every game fills in more & more details about the setting of the Silver Case, but no matter what the story keeps on moving foward. It doesn't have an end. Basically it's like real life. It's more about the world of Silver Case than the actual characters in it. Every single character in Silver Case is expendable. (Which is why I love the plots. Most video games don't have the guts to kill off main characters.) The time line goes like this Moonlight Syndrome: http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/moonlight.html This game is not officially part of the Kill the Past universe, but most of it's lore & mythology was built upon on in Silver Case. In fact Ryo Kazan is actually the first criminal you run into in the Silver Case game. Think of Moonlight Syndrome in the same way that would think of Koudelka in the Shadow Hearts series. Note: Moonlight Syndrome is actually a side story in the Twilight Syndrome series of games. Silver Case: http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/silver/index.htm This is the Persona 2 Innocent Sin of the Kill the past universe. As this is the game that establishes what is canon & what is not in the Kill the past multiverse. Basically this the game that people reference whenever we want to check up on information that's integral to the rest of the series. (Much like Silent Hill 2.) Flower, Sun, & Rain: http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/hotelfsr/index.html This game happens two yrs. after Silver Case & is a direct continuation of Sumio's story. This game is a sidequel. In the sense that it's not actual sequel to the Silver Case, but it does establish enough connections to the SIlver Case. That you can classify this title as an official follow up to the Silver Case. It pretty much ties up several loose ends from the Silver Case yet at the same time opening an entirely new set of questions to the gamer. We find out more about the identity of Sumio, & we finally get to see Toriko Kusabi & Sundance Shot for the first time. Note: Sundance only appeared in the intro for Silver Case. Both Sundance & Toriko are only mentioned or referred to in the first Silver Case game, but they don't actually appear in game until FSR. Although it's debatable with Toriko. Whether or not her first in game appearance is in FSR or SC 25 Ward. Considering that she was more of a celestial entity in FSR. Silver Case 25 Ward: The la-*test*-('") chapter in the Kill the Past universe. Actually this game starts a new arc called Kill the Life. I don't know much about this game other than the fact that it takes place after the events of FSR. Yoshimitsu Koshimizu, Sumio & Toriko Kusabi from FSR return in SC 25 Ward. Sakura Natsume from the original Silver Case is now one of the leading characters. Tetsugoro Kusabi is not in the SC 25 Ward game at all, because he's currently conducting a case in the United States. (At least that's what Sumio says in the Transmitter mission.) I think Sundance SHot comes back as well, but I'm not sure if that actually is him. Or if it's just somebody who looks similar to him. (Sundance was arrested & detained by Yoshimitsu Koshimizu & Remy Fauzlie at the end of FSR.) Killer 7: Not officially part of the Kill the Past universe. (Although for some reason Killer 7 still has the "Kill the Past" label in the Hand in Killer 7 guidebook. Moonlight Syndrome took place in the same world that we live in. (As does FSR & SC.) K7 has an alternate time line where we live in a one world united government. Where all trans communications have been outlawed. Originally Sundance Shot was supposed to be a bigger role in Killer 7, but for some reason he was dropped from the game. My guess is that Sundance would've overshadowed the rest of the K7 cast a lil' too much. Since he's a far more developed character than the rest of the K7. If you played the first Silver Case, you'll notice that the mission themes are almost exactly the same as K7's. The opening mission is irrelevant to the story. The first mission is the main plot. The second mission builds up on the main plot. The third mission is centraled on one character. Note: In SC, the 3r level connected Moonlight SYndrome to Silver Case, & the level revolved around Sumio, & his designs to commit a terrorist act against a city that wronged him & his friends as a kid. In K7. The 3rd level (Not including Target: angel) revolved around Dan Smith. Much of Dan Smith's level seems to be based off of the concept of the Shelter Children from Silver Case. Both the Shelter Children policy & Curtis Blackburn's black market female organs are actually sanctioned by the government. The 4rth mission is about how the media portays crime & how the information is spread. Note: In SC we learn more about a couple of rouge underground websites that spread word & knowledge of Uehara Kamui (GOD) Which in turn creates several copy cat cases of individuals who claim to be Kamui (GOD) In K7 we learn more about how propaganda is spread through the modern media. One such example is through a comic book called "The Handsome Men". The 5th mission is the level where everything goes to hell. People get killed & everybody is fucked. Except in K7's case, we find out that half of them already died a couple decades ago. Whereas in SC we actually see the political fallout unfold as everybody sides with their poltical stance & kill off the rest of opposition. In SC the only ones still standing by the end of the game. Are the people who didn't choose a side/political agenda at all. (Sakura Natsuma, Tetsugoro Kusabi, Sumio Kodai, & Tokio Morishima.) Silver Case also had an entirely different section of the game. Called the Placebo reports where you play as ex reporter Tokio Morishima. As he learns more about Uehara Kamui, & the conspiracy of the Silver Case scandal. In K7 this part of the game would've been the Jaco Checkbox reports, but obviously that part of the game didn't make into the final version at all. BTW here's a time line for Sumio http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/hotelfsr/hotelfsrsumio.html Note: Sumio was actually born 1113. That alone should tell you how fucked up this guy is.

KIRBY 7- 12-01-2007

BTW this is the SC novel that ocurrs after the 4rth chap. & before the final chap. in SC Left to right: Sumio Kodai, Kiyoshi Morikawa, Uehara KAMUI, & Sundance Shot This is Sakura when she first appeared in the SC game. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/topdrunkee/killer7/lifecut-sakurafillin.jpg Man the art is really good. Silver case character designs especially. Does anyone have a collection of the art in the original aspect ratio? Nothing stretched or altered? The only original art that I can think of. Are the pics that are uploaded in my website. http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/silver/silverart.htm http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/silver/silverdl.htm http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/silver/famitsu.htm Tetsugoro, Sakura, Michiru Left to right: Sumio Kodai, Tetsugoro Kusabi, & I guess that's Chiaki Hachisuka. If only for the eye glasses. Chiaki normally looks like this & this When you hear that only one of the three is dead. You would never guess that it's actually Chiaki who got shot in the head, & not Sumio or Tetsu. My original prediction for when I played this game was that only SUmio & Chizuru would survive. I never guessed that Sumio would get bumped off midway into the game. (Arrested for masterminding a terrorist act.) This is one of SUmio's child hood friends. When Chizuru died, I didn't even notice it was her, because she looked so different. (Back then, all I had to do was point up to the forum logo, but I just remembered that she's not part of the K7 SIN forum logo anymore.) The rest of the pics that I have were extracted from the game itself. So they naturally have tiny proportions. Silver Case extracted pics http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LI3YWIK2 Silver Case 25 Ward Yoshimitsu Koshimizu & Toriko Kusabi from FSR. Sumio Kodai/Mondo & Sakura Natsume (It's interesting how they paired up Sumio with his replacement.) Tokio Morishima, ex reporter being a hardcore player pimp as usual Sundance? New characters I keep forgetting what his name is. All I know is that he's the mascot of K7 SIN, heh heh. (I like photo shopping pics of him exploding into pieces.) New Cases In the bottom left you can see Sumio Kodai wearing the same exact outfit he wore in FSR. (As Sumio Mondo.)
