Grasshopper games U.S. releases
Has anyone heard anything lately about Grasshopper's other titles being released in the U.S. lately? I remember reading about it online some time after Killer7 came out, but nothing's been mentioned since then. It seems like it'd make sense, since I hear Killer7 got much better sales in the U.S. than in Japan, so I would think they'd try to market their older titles to fans of Killer7 who were unable to enjoy their other work.

There is a grasshopper game that will be coming out for the Nintnedo DS in July. Its called "Contact." If you dont already own Samurai Champloo Sidetracked, you should do yourself a favor and pick that up, since it is a grasshopper game, and directed by Suda 51.

Are you the same Lisker from Gamefaqs? Anyway I doubt that any of Suda 51's older titles will make it stateside. Although Killer 7 didn't sell well in Japan it was critically acclaimed. (These days most games that I would consider "different" aren't selling that well. Take a look at capcom's Okami. The sales figures are quite poor when compared to the heavy hitters like Final Fantasy.) The majority of Grasshopper's earlier games & the games that Suda51 has made during his career have mostly consisted of adventure/text adventure games. If audiences can't appreciate the more action packed Killer 7,I doubt that there would be an audience for the rest of the games under the grasshopper library. The reason why I feel K7 didn't sell that well in Japan is because compared to his earlier games... Killer 7's story is a mess. His earlier game Flower, Sun, Rain also had a complex story, but unlike Killer 7 the story was told in it's entirety, and wasn't cut & condensed unlike Killer 7. (IMO for K7 they should've went the same route that FSR took, and seperate each mission to short 10 min to 30 min long lvls. Flower, Sun, & Rain had about 24 lvls of story, text, & character development where as in K7 the only thing that really does get developed are the political scandals .) What I really want to see is a continuation of Suda 51's Silver Affair/Flower, Sun, & Rain arc. I assume that Killer 7 was originally supposed to be part of the Silver affair/FSR mythology. My main reasoning is,because in the beta trailers Sandance/Sundance has a majour role in the trailers. (He's one of the key characters of Flower, Sun & Rain. He's even more mysterious than Kun Lan & Harman Smith.) But I guess due to licensing issues (Killer 7 is a joint project between Grasshopper & capcom) & time constraints Sandance's role in the game was completly written out of both Hand in Killer 7 & the game. In his place we get Edo Macalister instead who basically just serves as a FSR cameo.

Re: Grasshopper games U.S. releases
Yeah, I guess there might not be a market there for it, but I'm pretty sure I heard that on IGN or something, maybe it was an idea someone had that got scrapped...oh well, I'd heard some good things about games like Michigan and FSR... Are you the same Lisker from Gamefaqs? I've gotten that before, and judging by the way the people who mistook me for him treated me, he must have been an unlikeable guy. Though I am the Lisker who found out about the hidden sombrero in Tiny Tank. Please, no applause is necessary.

Oh wait. You mean the Lisker who posts in the Killer7 board occasionally. Yes, that is me. I thought you meant before the boards were completely revamped.

KIRBY 7- 05-10-2006

Yup that's the one. Don't post there much myself, but I used to frequent the board when the game first came out. I've also seen a Lisker that posts at Final Fight Streetwise & Ryu Ga Gotoku (Yakuza) forum. BTW the main reason why I can't picture the older grasshopper games being translated is, because they have about as much text as an rpg. (Especially FSR) We all know how much time & money it takes to translate rpgs.

Topdrunkee, you have got me wanting to play Flower, Sun, Rain now. Curse you!
