Hokuto No Ken/Fist of the North Star
Man after worshipping God Hand since its beginnings, and now seeing the anime/manga taht inspired it, I must proclaim my obsession with Hokuto No Ken now! I want it all! All the manga, all the animes and man is the old fashioned 80's Hokuto No Ken so gory!

Ever since my videostore's game section turned into animeland, I saw about 3 DVDs if the anime. So that's why it felt so familiar!

You mean to tell moi that you've lived at least 20 somethings years in this mortal coil & you've just now watched Fist of the North Star? Well actually I think Fist of the North Star sucks. Especially the boring as hell fights & the horrible dialogue. I can't believe Cloud Strife was actually based off of Guts. Considering how muscular Guts is & how Cloud........well how Cloud looks.) FOTNS is the prefect show to make parodies out of. (Which is exactly what God Hand did.) FOTNS has some bombazz character designs though. I also love the art style. (Because it actually looks like they learned how to draw. Unlike that Full metal Alchemist/Bleach/Naruto crap.) There's a new Hokuto no ken online rpg out. http://www.hokutonoken-online.jp/ (Damn, an onlinemmorpg that I'm actually interested in.) Check out the dope ass graphics. Hey Fist to me, is like Oneechanbara for that review guy. I keep checking the Fist series out to see if I'll finally get hooked onto the series. I just couldn't stop laughing at all the convenient gratuitous sexy ass shots that seem to pop up at random in a show that tries way too hard to be serious. Damn I can't believe I wasted my money on this piece of shit. I thought it was going to be badass,but instead it went all Matrix on moi, & they just sat there & talked forever about some religious philosophy bulllshit. The main selling point of the Fist of the North Star series is to see Kenshiro blow up the bad guys brains open with one punch, but we're deprived of that because of the blonde chick who begged for his life. Well at least Fist has ass, & lots of it.....

Well I've heard of it before, but I never caught on until recently. And I'll admit I do like Berserk more. I really need to get those manga books. I loved the video game. Fist just seems kick ass to me because God Hand references it so much, and Kenshiro himself is cool. I love the story of how he got those seven scars on his chest. Plus it does seems like there are some cool fights. Let alone gory deaths.

Get chapters 9 to 13, you won't regret it. It's the best place to start reading Berserk from. That's when the main plot arc begins... Actually I think you might like the prequel, Souten No Ken. http://www.souten.tv/ Fist of the Blue Sky seems like a more story driven Hokuto no ken. Instead of dealing with megamaniacal tyrants the Kenshiro from this show confronts the Japanese imperial army,Chinese nazis,the Triads,etc. Sound pretty interesting. I have to admit the song does sound rather catchy though. It depends, I for one think the battles suck, because Kenshiro kicks way too much ass without breaking a sweat. Here's a good example of what I'm talking about. My main beef with KHokuto no ken is that it's way too formalic. The best martial arts anime I've seen has to be the Grappler Baki series. More specificly the tournament episodes. That show has some brutal ass fights. Too bad the character designs,story & music aren't as ILL as Hokuto no Ken, but at least the battles are entertaining. I can watch both seasons without falling asleep. Here's two of my favorite fights. Grappler Baki pays homage to real world fighters such as Antonio Inoki,Giant Baba,Rickson Gracie,Mas Oyama,etc. Lucky bastards can watch all this shit on youtube now. I remember back when this show first aired in Japan I had to stay up at 2:00 in the morning every tuesday just to watch this ish.

The Anime ended right when the main conflict of the story begins. Yes! I found a used copy of the original Fist at Half Price Books! Volume five unfortunetly. But who cares? All ya need to know is that Ken is the good guy and most everyone else is a bad guy. Rei is a beast, dude reminds me of Walter from Hellsing. I'm on the hunt for the other volumes now.

I just purchased the Hokuto No Ken PS2 2-D fighter game and its off the chain. If your a fan of Melty Blood or Guilty Gear you'll love this game. The mergable instant death system is crazy, and very cheap at times.

Yeah, I've seen that game in action, and I got a hard-on once I realized it was using the GG engine.

Hokuto no Ken is the most awesome anime ever made (and the reason I bought GOD HAND is because it's Hokuto no Ken in essence and spirit. Yep it's vice versa for me) Has the most pwnage per square foot in anime, it's simply brutal and ruthless and simply ferocious!!

And contrary to popular belief, Hokuto no Ken has a lot of brains. Have you guys ever seen the live action version?
