I re-downloaded the emulator and now I see the game in bullet time, lol, but at least now it saves.

What game you used to -*test*-('") the emulator?
Xed- 07-07-2008
The only rom I have is the one of FSR

He mentions DS in the monologue before the JUCK IN only if it's one of the new puzzles. As far as I got, the new puzzles are all optionals, so I guess that they'll give you easter eggs or something like that.
In day 0 I found one in Sumio's car, it opens if you digit 7.
In day 1, there was an examinable wooden thing in Sumio's transformed room, in the right corner on the same wall with the door, with a double code. You could also juck in in the painting in your real room, with an 8 numbers code.
I couldn't be able to find the codes, tought. It would help if who is playing the game posts here the ds puzzles like I am doing, I guess.
LOL yayoi says an italian proverb!
EDIT: On day 3, I found a juckable table on the roof near Edo (the table on the right). It's a four number code. (and sumio mentions DS again)

So right now the only language is japanese?

Yeah, it's coming out in europe in october. There's still no american release date as far as I know.
Just discoveded that when you reach 1000 steps (the game counts your steps) you unlock the "X searcher". If you press X, it searches the DS juckable items.
EDIT: I can Juck-in the double wooden door in front of the bathroom in room 304 and it has an 8 number code in day 3.
In day 4, in the bar, I can juck in a chair in the south-west corner.
I guess that this puzzles unlock new clothes and the songs for the juke box.
EDIT2: In day 5 I can juck in the bar next to the jukebox on the first floor and it has a 2 numbers code
I can juck in also one of the beach umbrellas on the roof

Just finished the game. I can safely say that is the same exact thing of the ps2 version. The only new things are the clothes and the jukebox, and I guess you must unlock this stuff by solving the extra puzzles. There is no important reference to the new suda's titles, I guess that the clothes you can unlock comprehend som easter eggs, like travis' clothes, but no official reference is made in the game.
(I never met the new characters either. I guess they're in their rooms)

interesting, when i started the game on the ds the first code was the number of steps taken. i found this out after restarting the game a bunch of times as the faq at gamefaqs claimed any number you put in is correct as it is sumio's b-day your creating.
KIRBY 7- 07-17-2008
The faq is for the original release of FSR. (Some of the codes aren't accurate with my version either. Which is a best hits re release.)
I can safely say that is the same exact thing of the ps2 version.
Exactly the same? Even the music?

The FSR theme is absent from the intro. Which leads me to believe that the FSR remixes are gone as well. Which is a sad shame, because that song built up a lot of tension the further you went on through the game.
I got FSR DS emulation working the other day, but I didn't bother to play it.
I'm too damned occupied with a game that I had lying around the house called Arcanum. Long live Troika.
Haven't shown up for a while, but it's work related. Got a couple 'a movie gigs (the first one is actually a short), and I'm involved in the concept art dpt., so that's why the K7 comic's been at a standstill.
Shit, you too? Everybody around here seems to be part of the entertainment biz. Though I kinda assumed that you were a comic book artist or some shit.

no, the ds port is obviously downgraded, even the graphics (the characters noteven have fingers and their faces are flat, lol) what I was saying is that the extra stuff is all optional and in the ds game you have to do the same things that you do in the normal game.
KIRBY 7- 07-18-2008
I know the music is downgraded. I was just wondering if the FSR theme is still in the game. (The catchy song with the girl singing about flowers & shit.)
It doesn't seem so, because it's not even played during the intro.
Nor is it played during the Ed Macalister save points between levels.
(Which aren't in the DS version. The DS system of saving is far more convenient though.)
Xed- 07-18-2008
Ah, no, the song is not in the game. And the song in the intro video sucks. I thank god for the new saving system, because the emulator was so slow that going around the island was a real pain in the ass. BTW Suda wasn't even the director of this port, I guess he was too busy doing no more heroes 2, no more heroes solid, no more heroes solid 4: guns of the dark star (who was alive because of the nanomachines) etc., lol.
KIRBY 7- 07-18-2008
I think the new intro song is kinda cute actually. I'm planning to go through the ds port some day just to extract some of the new songs.
My problem is that the FSR theme played an integral role in immersing you with the setting of FSR.
The new intro song can't even hope to add to that "lost/confused/dazed, looking for a way home" feeling you get when you hear the FSR theme.
The FSR theme sounds all serene & melodic
http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/FSRintromix.mp3
when you first start the game.
The FSR theme eventually gets all upbeat & trance like by the time you reach the end of the game. (When you finally reach the theater.)
http://killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/FSR~theatermix.mp3
It just feels like FSR lost a part of the soul & vision that went into the making of the game.
It's like playing SNake Eater without the fucking snake eater theme.
Except the lyrics to FSR actually have something to do with the game.

The FSR theme added to the disorientated "lost in paradise" vibe of FSR.
Whereas the lyrics to Snake eater was just gibberish talking about eating tree frogs & other inane shit.
