Ah man, part-nah. It's about damn time. Another hip hop head. You probably won't find much convo here music wise. Considering that most of us around here listen to metal. (I myself pretty much listen to every genre. I blend in with both hip hop & hardcore metal crowds.) I don't know much about Immortal Technique, because I don't listen to American Hip hop anymore. (Including the underground ish.) Judging from what I've heard he seems to be a political conscious type of mc. Those types of cats are rare as hell these days.... Mc's who actually have a message told through poetry. That's like an alien concept in these new age of souless crunk. I was more into early 90's Westcoast Gangsta rap. I still am, unfortunately I can't stand most of the Westcoast ish that's been dropping in America these days. The only social/political Mc who I had in my rotation was KRS-One. I still bang to that "Mcs act like they don't know" cut by KRS. It's funny as hell how everything he said in that song came true, & it's ten times worse then what he probably imagined. My bad part-nah for the rant. I make it a point to direct anybody who may be interested to a site that's made by a couple of friends of mine. http://www.cultureuniversal.com/main.htm It's about world hiphop. You'll find a lot more people over there who will have similar taste in music than you will here. Check out their video page. It's nothing but real ass hiphop consisting of the four elements. http://www.cultureuniversal.com/videos/ (Heh heh, some of the vids I recorded are actually hosted in that site.) Contrary to popular belief Franch & Japan have the two largest hip hop communities in the world outside of the U.S. (Japan has been b-boying since 1983. I have no idea when French started doing their thing.) Since you dig Immortal Technique you're bound to dig French Hiphop. (French hiphop is usually donw by Haitians who are Black.) A lot of those cats are political as hell. The dopest French Mc, I've heard was a cat named Solaris. I can't remember his name so I can't link you to any youtube vids. I'd talk more about French hip hop, but I was never part of the French scene so I don't want to spread misleading info or what not. This is what a traditional J-hip hop song sounds like. K-Dub Shine & Dj Oasis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taB9iRC38KU (The beat takes you on a trip. It makes you think of the Shibuya streets during night time. No you won't see people who look like them on the street. Unless you have bad luck or something, but the overall vibe of the song is what Japan night life feels like to moi.) Budda Brand "Don't -*test*-('") da Master" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbFwLS66u6M Dev Large is a punkass bitch, but his songs are off tha hook. This cut is straight up Eastcoast. Unlike the 1st vid I linked to. This cut doesn't really have a vibe that's unique to Japan. Dohzi-T feat. Zingi The Tokyo Tribe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj185A8mbTo LOL, rapping Yakuza. One of them actually is a Yakuza in real life. Zingi, he's the guy who raps with a yakuza accent. He raps the 4rth verse. Note: Zingi is also the name of Zingi's crew.

ShakeZor- 10-26-2007

Killer! :P Sorry I got giddy for a moment, but I'l definately check out those links when I'm on a better computer. Ze French do spoken word? Interesting.

KIRBY 7- 10-27-2007

They don't exactly look or sound French though. (Although some still rock the Frenchy accents.) French Hip hop is mostly conducted by French minorities. (Such as the Haitian population, who are predominantly Black. Kinda like how some Japanese Mc's are actually Brazilian. Since Japan has the largest Brazilian population outside of Brazil.) There was a bomb ass French Hip hop cut that was used as background music in the last level of the game Hitman Contracts. It sounded like old school early 90's Japanese hip hop, before Japan got influenced by all that lame MTV mainstream shit. I was trying to look for an mp3 of that Hitman song so you can hear it, but I can't find it anywhere. Here's some Ill shit by a couple of British Mc's Genesis Elijah "So Hip Hop" http://www.cultureuniversal.com/videos/uk/genesis.php Hardcore shit. I don't know much about this cat, except that he's badass. Mystro "Tellin' you" http://www.cultureuniversal.com/videos/uk/mystro.php Verb-T & Harry Love. http://www.cultureuniversal.com/videos/uk/verbt_harrylove.php I'm loving this cut. I dig how he works that Brit accent. ---- I think the ILLest Mc in Japan is a woman, lol. RUMI 「Hell Me WHY??」 8Min Special Mix Music Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGRsNWHSXos I laughed when I first saw this chick, but when she opens her mouth & starts spittin' it's like damn! This chick sounds like a straight up cypher battle Mc. The flow she's sporting in the"cat fight" song she does near the end of the vid is straight up ILL. RUMI - Hell Me WHY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwqeSG1ebn8 Original ass shit. DJ BAKU feat. PRIMAL, RUMI - 畜殺 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgSPJzA9qiU Killer ass beat. Love the horror vibe. I even wrote a couple of short stories called "The Children of the Moth" based off this fucked up sounding song she made called "Sanagi" http://www.cultureuniversal.com/videos/jp/rumi.php That's my shit right there. Some straight up horror ish.

Kroni- 05-08-2008

So I've been listening to Immortal Technique and I'm wondering what are some other rappers that are similar in his style? I've listened to a few Diabolic songs and they were similar, though I'm not a fan of his beats. Any suggestions? Preferebly english stuff.

KIRBY 7- 05-10-2008

Everybody always says that bout his beats, but imo Immortal don't need beats. He can break it down a capella & still deliver his message effectively. Immortal sounds every bit as influential as Malcolm X when he speaks & raps. Immortal is the best no doubt when it comes to the lyricism, & his prophetic (albeit far leftist) political message. However I'm going to have to give it to CunninLynquists as the best overall. Dope beats, dope lyrics, dope delivery, dope ass message. This is straight up knowledge right here. CunninLynguists Nothing to give http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QIWRHR3YmQ It's all about this verse. "Anonymous and corrupt, assure obscurity In a spell under it's viel, an impure security We love it in our spirits 'cause we're suckers for lust Most even fuck in it, we're too ashamed to be just" Valley of Death http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qce0OoWLw_E K.K.K.Y. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npSFbmmKImo Immortal Technique & the Cunning Linguists saved hip hop imo. Another mc that is very similar to Immortal is Paris. This cat sounds like a fucking Black Panther. IMO, he's prolly the freshest mc who's still in the game. His voice sounds like Method Man, but his lyrics are more similar to Ice Cube's old school angry ass gangsta political shit. (True Gangsta rap has always been controversially political.) Paris AWOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvPpUGxY6eg What would you do? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUSgXBbnwO4 This song is talking about the current war on terrorism. Its On http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHOStxNbhYQ AWICH アンダースタンド-Universal Mathematix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_ibv-3MNCE She's an Okinawan (Technically Japan) mc. Cut is in English. (Although the hook is in Japanese.) She has an extremely ILL, & unique use of the English language. If y'all thought my method of speech sounded very stylish wait until you hear her speak. It's like damn! The way she links words & messages together is an art in itself. This shit is straight up (street) poetry. I still have no idea what exactly it is that she's spittin about. (She uses a lot big ass words. I need a fucking thesaurus just to decipher what the hell she's saying.) I think she's talking shit about "wack mcs", and how their shallow messages lead to misdirected "prejudice & racism". I don't know you tell me. Her use of English grammar & vocabulary is even more stylized than my own to the point where you need to think long & hard about what exactly it is she's saying. Ah yeah, did I neglect to mention that she's fuckin' hot, lol. When it comes to political hiphop. You can never go wrong with Public Enemy Rise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc20JKvS0d0 Louder Than A Bomb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=460hOoqiINc PROPHETS OF RAGE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcv3McUVyAo I'd like to see the day that I finally see a Libertarian minded mc. Most of the dope ass political mcs are all way too left leaning for my tastes. The socialist movement just isn't realistic until we have a full on revolution & abolish the current establishment. I must say that you're pretty much limiting yourself if you only look for English speakin' mcs. One of the reasons why I moved on to international hip hop is because hiphop from abroad (Europe/Korea & Japan) still pays tribute to the 4 elements that hip hop was founded under. Most of all, lot of shit from abroad stays trues to the delivery of the "message" that happens to be missing in todays so called hip hop. The problem here is that most rappers in the United States are being bought off the street. The majority of them only rap about superficial shit these days in order to make the paper. One of the reasons why Immortal is so fresh is because he's an indie artist. He's gotten many record deals in the past, but he shot all of them down. As he refuses to meet the concessions that all major American mcs adhere to these days in order to remain in the spot light. Immortal considers most American mcs as sell outs who contribute to capitalism. As in capitalizing off of his people's misfortunes under a more covert style of slavery. The slavery to the dollar bill. BTW what's your fave Immortal joints? It's all about "Bin Laden didn't blow up the projectz! Tell the truth nucca! It was you nucca! BUSH KNOCKED DOWN THE TOWERS..." That is the most badass fucking hook that I've heard in years, lol. Tell the Truth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA_xXWSXyFI You Never Know http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pqiqrnZE44 This joint is hardcore. I love the plot twist at the end of the song. It's like damn. He's lived a sad, depressing life. They Wanna Murder Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgaz4FCk9WU He's rapping about the eventual police state that even I believe is in the process of happening as we speak. Shit, I fucking love hip hop whenever it's utilized for its original purpose. (To spread knowledge & enlighten the mind.) Too bad TRUE hiphop is mostly dead...

Kroni- 05-11-2008

Thanks, I must reccomend one rapper myself; one dope MC called Grime. He's extremely obscure (googling his name don't give ya much) but he's up there with Public Enemy imo. On the other hand you might have heard of him since you seem to know many underground rappers. If not, just listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnN07_FkRis Fuck, I wish we had more stuff like this. Some of my fav IT songs are The Cause of Death, Dance with the Devil, and Revolutionary. I gotta love IT's voice, it's so deep and commanding of attention, especially in "Tell the Truth." I have thought about the similarities between him and Malcom X from time to time... As for foreign rap, well, I would listen to foreign language rap if I understood it. I listen to foreign music quite often but when it comes to TRUE hip hop (the stuff like Grime), then I wouldn't even understand the message of the music, it's all gibberish to me. I did really like that AWICH song, though (and how cute she is, though your avvie is moreso). I tried searching her name, but all I got were pages in moonrunes.

KIRBY 7- 05-16-2008

Never heard of Grime, but his shit is pretty ILL. On the other hand you might have heard of him since you seem to know many underground rappers. Nah I'm just old school. I've been listening to hip hop since 92/93. You know back when Hiphop actually had a message. Immortal & Cunnin Lynquists are the only "true" underground artists that I listen to. I'm actually more of a G-funk Westcoast style cat. Back in the day I would be bouncing to smooth ass Westcoast style pimp shit. RAPPIN 4 TAY - PLAYAZ CLUB http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHiC-7v0SCw Too Short - Gettin it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAXvjTwBf9Q Spice 1 - Playa Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8jRQC-yCh8 Spice 1 - Indi (In The Club) (Feat. Katt Williams) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe1egXQDcKU Here's some Japanese style pimp joints. Ganxsta D.X "Playerz" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJNSn158aSQ Playerz is my theme song, lol. Mr. OZ - ...Still in drama http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fusLJfaLXA two-j groovin' Ⅱ-j http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrW6t9T46GY I don't really listen to westcoast style shit any more though. I got sick & tired of hearing their regurgitated lyrics. I stopped listening to hip hop back in 2003 when it started to suck ass with all that dumbass Southern Crunk shit. (& still does.) I got back into hiphop again this year when a Bronx based MC called Explicit Linez hooked moi up with a digital copy of his la-*test*-('") cd. His shit was pretty raw. It made me realize that hip hop ain't really dead yet. It's just obscure now. Here's some good ol' hardcore shit. A Tribe Called Quest - Hot Sex on a Platter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeEsZIlNvdU That's my shit. It's all about the final verse with Q-tip. Whatever happened to Tribe? Damn I long for the days when hip hop was actually scary. Instead of laughable like today. KRS-One Sound of da police http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VRZq3J0uz4 This song was made a long ass time ago, but he's rapping about the same exact shit that's happening in Iraq right now. (Mainly because most cats from the hood grew up being terrorized by the American government.) Souls of Mischief "Rock It Like That" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q6vuKGg8iQ NAUGHTY BY NATURE - Craziest ( ORIGINAL CLIP ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvi8-e4pEbQ Timz N Hood Chek - Smif-N-Wessun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ7XkFAw4p0 This is the ILLest song ever made right here. Method Man - Judgement Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3ewLFkGSpw Dope beat, dope flow, dope video. Check out the lyrics. MethTical is spitting some mad knowledge. He's actually a straight A college graduate. It's funny thought, because most people assume that Method Man is just a typical ignorant lazy dumbass. Based off of the way the media portrays him. I did really like that AWICH song, though (and how cute she is, though your avvie is moreso). I tried searching her name, but all I got were pages in moonrunes. I don't know much about AWICH myself. Other than her name is short for "Asian WIsh CHild" Her myspace seems to be the only place that actually has info about her. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=1000502277 I first found out about AWICH, because I was wasting my time listening to all these wack ass Asian pop acts pretending to be hip hop one day. I came upon one of her vids in a Korean blog. I laughed coz I thought she was going to be another pop tart I was amazed as fuck when I saw how well put together her delivery & rhymes were. AWICH reminds me of the days when this female Japanese mc Brier used to be hardcore. Brier "Strong Woman" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QbUVbhmFbA Brier "Y.G.N." feat. Corn Head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McN_zAUibaY Brier & El Nando feat. Verbal from M-Flo "Street Code" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPEShvSOgTU Except AWICH seems to be from America imo. Brier is from Japan. (AWICH's English vocabulary is way too complex. Which is why she's so damn ILL, lol.) I think the only female mc who sounds ILLer than AWICH is Rah Digga Rah Digga - Imperial feat. Busta Rhymes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DabklBnUPqg "Flipmode to IMPERIAL. You know you love it when you hear this shit on the radio." Damn, she is straight up street. RAH DIGGA / DJ PREMIER - LESSONS OF TODAY! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmIZF5fxG50 Rah Digga-Tight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3L9yT4x938 I've never heard a female mc that sounded as raw as Rah Digga. AWICH comes pretty close.

KIRBY 7- 05-16-2008

I'm about to go way off topic with this post. I did really like that AWICH song, though (and how cute she is, though your avvie is moreso). She's Tsubaki 椿 (Her name translates into Camellia) You might recognize her from my youtube. Here's a Tsubaki playlist I made http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=86DC3CEE156BA94C Tsu reminds me of Maya Amano in that LA car magazine cover. She used to be an up & coming underground R&B soul artist. Used to perform exclusively at Club Harlem in Shibuya. She was popular as fuck back in 2002/ 2003. She was only indie underground for about six months, because a major recording company sought her out after hearing her underground album & seeing her perform live at Shibuya Harlem club. I've seen many artists come & go in Japan, but Tsubaki was the only one I've seen who got signed to a major label contract in less then a year. It hella seemed like she was going places seeing how quick her influence spread. Note: Tsubaki was active in the scene since 2001, but she didn't finally make an album until Oct. 2002. She was signed to a major label in spring 2003. I dunno for some reason she fell off back in 2004/2005 I'm like the only hiphop cat who still remembers her, & how dope her style is. Tsubaki is actually a Soul Ballad singer, but she was originally marketed as R&B. As can be seen with her Harlem Shibuya joints. Tsubaki 椿 Club Harlem style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e875ENive8 Tsubaki 椿 "彼方へ... / Far away..." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs7as2CNwgI Tsubaki 椿 "Playing games (Kenny Dope Smooth mix Pt.2)" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoDrWlb3Neo DJ Watarai feat. Tsubaki 椿 "Showcase " http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsl6inEnezc Tsubaki 椿 "Showcase Gota Remix" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gvk1SzICMs GODDAMN SHE'S FINE. I can't believe she only lived a prefecture or two away from where I stayed at. What's more. She's actually pretty fluent in English. (Not that I'd try to hook up with her or anything. I'm just an extremely dedicated fan. Good for nothings such as myself are bad for her health.) She's now recognized as pop, but she has way more SOUL than most so called "Japanese urban hiphop" acts Seriously, it pisses moi off trying to justify to people why she deserves way more respect than most of these new JR&B acts who do nothing but copy America. Tsubaki was, & still is original as hell. You can check these threads to hear in more detail about what happened to Tsubaki. http://jpopmusic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=66553&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30&sid=d765276d91bc41de77a516b97853aa38 (Check page 4 to see all these Tsubaki pics I've posted. The thread doesn't get interesting until I start posting. Unfortunately that's also when the thread died. Prolly because I was telling people information that they didn't want to know about. Like the fact the she actually has underground hip hop roots, & she used to model for lowrider magazines. Here's another thread I made about Tsubaki. http://www.cultureuniversal.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1180 I made many more posts about her at other forums, but I won't bother to link to them. I think I fucking ruined my rep, because I'm always trying to shove Tsubaki down their throat. (HEY SHE'S THE BEST THAT EVER WAS & EVER WILL BE, LOL) I doubt that anybody takes my opinion seriously anymore. You could see why I'm mad with how Tsubaki gets slept on once you see all these wack ass pop groups trying to pretend that they have soul. I probably wouldn't be so annoyed if Tsubaki couldn't sing. Sadly she's one of the most talented acts I've ever seen in Asia. It's as if Asians don't like people who can actually... sing, lol. Tsubaki is off the hook whenever she sings ballads. Here's some of my fave tracks. Tsubaki 椿 "川の流れのように / Kawa No Nagare No Yoni" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IkLEtr6GnE Tsubaki 椿 "あなたがいるだけで / anata ga iru dake de" 47 sec. clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTE1ogsa2G0 Tsubaki 椿 "Hakuchumu (Daydream) / 白日夢" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jeYohBH_X4 Tsubaki 椿 "Free rein" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN2IDbY87tw Tsubaki 椿 "Sea of Love English Version" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zc-d1nBL9o Tsubaki 椿 "あなたがいるだけで / Just being by your side" fan video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyV_4bc3J30 Tsubaki 椿 "川の流れのように (HIROSHI WATANABE remix)" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xDTd-ne4Uc This song is not out yet, but it sounds damn good from what little I've heard of it. PEEPING TOM (MAKIGURI NO ANA) Theme by Tsubaki 椿 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6gYVHKqSBw I know I'm coming off as too fucking obsessed with her. That just how much I love her music. A lot of woman look good, but few are as talented or as unique as she is.

Mecha Sonic- 05-16-2008

Wow, I didn't know about the large French hip-hop following... Cool. I don't normally listen to much rap, but some artists just really stand out.

KIRBY 7- 05-19-2008

?? Where did that come from? We only spoke about French hippop in one or two posts. All the other foreign artists are japanese, or English (Brit). The funny thing is that I haven't actually posted a single French hip hop video at all yet, lol. Most of the videos I posted in this thread are from the U.K., Japan, & old school American hiphop from the 80's,90's, & early 2000. (True Hiphop died in America back in 2003.) Here's some informative pages about French & Japan hip hop. (Both countries have been during their thang for nearly three decades.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_hip_hop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_hip_hop http://www.cultureuniversal.com/articles_historyjpn_vol01.htm Here's an article an old friend wrote. It was the first article about J hop that I've ever read where I didn't feel the need to correct it, because it was so accurate. This cat actually knows what he's talking about. --- Here's a couple of French hiphop acts. Mc Solaar - Inch'allah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmMd7qbpguk I was mad mesmerized when I first heard this pimping ass song back in 2002. I had no idea that they were singing about Allah. Well, the women are at least. Mc Solaar & Guru - The Good The Bad 1993 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZc4dxJRRw8 I'AM - Nés Sous La Même Etoile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0T0fwzrQ9g IAM "petit frere" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2rEdM5x4DU I told you all most French mcs are Black. (Everybody seems to get the impression that French mcs would look like fucking Backstreet Boys or some shit.) Some mcs in Japan are also Black such as "Akitaken Doburoku" He's the shirtless Black guy spitting mad fire at 3:52 of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgp1j64g-EU He reminds me of the Bald No More Heroes Garcian Smith. In fact he was the exact guy I was thinking of when I saw how Japanese influenced the NMH "Garcian" looked. (He was dressed like a Japanese thug.) Here's some Japanese Samurai rap, lol. AKTION - Still Neva Enuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDI7EdwPCTs IMO, a lot of Jap hop cats look like modern day samurai. Like the French, people almost always assume that Japanese rappers are going to look feminine. It's a funny assertion, because a lot of J rappers come from the outcast castes of Japanese society. In other words are lot of these cat are truly pissed off mothafuckas. I don't normally listen to much rap, but some artists just really stand out. Yeah some of these rap artists stand out, because some of them suck more ass than others. Who cares about an mc standing out? A lot of mc's stand out. 50 cent stands out, because he can't rap worth shit yet he's a multi millionaire banking off of a negative Black/African stereotype. When it comes to hiphop I only care about what they sound like (Their vibe.) & what their lyrics are about. I don't listen to rap either. I listen to hip hop. Correction, you don't listen to hiphop. You feel it. If you ain't feeling it, than chances are that mc isn't talking about anything relevant. For real though. There's a huge difference between rap & hiphop. Rap is only one component (The flow/rhythm) of what makes hiphop. Immortal Technique & the rest of the cats (+ ladies) posted in this thread represent the real hiphop sound. The sound cultivated from the street. Rap is just radio bullshit like Nelly, 50 cent. Hip hop is music derived from the four elements of street culture. Break dancing, turn tablism, graffiti, & rap. (There's also the forgotten 5th element, beat boxing.) Hip Hop's original intention was to spread a message of awareness to other oppressed peoples, express yourself, unite all cultures under unity against oppression, & the fucked up game that society has us playing.. Most people have forgotten that though. I blame it on mainstream American hiphop. The French & the Japanese still remember the message, & they still follow it to this day. In fact several Japanese hip hop heads actually listen to French hip hop, & vice versa. I got mad respect for the French, because they actually acknowledge Japanese hip hop. http://nihon-no-pv.skyrock.com/ http://pasukaru.skyrock.com/2.html http://yakuza-mp3.skyrock.com/ http://satsuriku.skyrock.com/1.html I have to keep tabs on French websites just to see what new shit is out in Japanese hiphop, lol. Mainly coz peepz in America have the worst taste in "music" ever. (LIL' Wayne) Shit, I need to check up on French Lyrics sites just to get me romanized sheets of Tsubaki's music. That's how behind the fucking times America is. (Not that we in America give a fuck. We love listening to our nursery rhyme G(ay)-unit bullshit.) I mean man, I'd be thinking that we out here in America would be listening to the fresh sounds of World wide hip hop by now. (Mainly European, & Asian. I ain't really feeling Latin hip hop. Most Latin ish is just generic gangsta shit.) Unfortunately most Americans don't really listen to hiphop. They listen to manufactured pop music disguised as hip hop. It's funny as hell when I think about it, because acts like P. Diddy, Lil' wayne, Soulja boy & 50 cent don't sound hip hop at all. They sound like cRAP. Look up Universal Zulu Nation. That was what hiphop was about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Zulu_Nation Even japanese gangsta style artist such as Ganxsta D.X are considered hip hop, because he's affiliated with the L.A. branch of the Zulu nation.

Kroni- 05-23-2008

From what I've been reading, French hip hop has been going the way of it's American counterpart lately (with the dumbass "DURR BALLIN' GANGSTA BLING HURR" shit). The Boondocks perfectly describes the state of current day hip hop, sadly.

Kroni- 05-25-2008

While we're on the subject of Paris, take a gander at this gem: http://www.rightwingnews.com/archives/week_2003_02_23.PHP Very amusing.

No Name- 06-01-2008

It's a shame how music has been dumbed down in America. However, there are still some more conscious rappers, like IT. There was something else I observed. Many of the fans of conscious rappers, seem to be more white/asian (at least from their myspace pages). Not to say that they can't listen to this, the more the better, but there are certain messages being ignored. I've heard some things directed at the African-american/Latino communities for change, but it seems too few listen. Though it's like that for a lot of americans. They just want something that sounds good, no content. It's not like you can have both.. Anyway, I plan of checking out more japanese/french hip-hop. Even though I won't understand it, which is kind similar to the above, but oh well.

KIRBY 7- 06-14-2008

Well, yeah that's the same everywhere. Japan's hip hop has been hitting the shitter ever since American producers started buying out MTV Japan. J hiphop is relegated to small half hour segments in their own country now. Due to financial pressure from American companies. Least that's what some anonymous J rapper told me once. I don't hang around music artists much anymore, because I find that most musicians are pretentious ass fucks who deserved to be pimp smacked by me, lol. (I used to know a shit load of muisc artists through online back in the day. Mainly because everybody mistakes me for a music artist so they'll usually talk to I as if I'm one of them.) Just look at the la-*test*-('") indirect squabble I got into by another one of those pretentious artists. (I'm ILLnificent, obviouisly.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IkLEtr6GnE It kinda cracks me up how he/she doesn't seem to understand the purpose of a cover. He just wails on & on about why he can't stand a certain singing style, & then he assumes that the singer is a stuck up bitch who overrates herself. He uses indirect language so his message doesn't sound anywhere near as harsh as I've recounted. This is the exact reason why I'm usually extremely vulgar & straight forward. I want people to actually understand what it is that I'm trying to say. (Although I spoke with a diplomatic tone in those posts.) I despise how people will try to make their selves sound neutral due to their sophisticated use of language. When it's obvious as the difference between night & day that they are in extreme opposition to your view point. It bothers me, because one. It creates the impression that they think you're stupid. Two, they can get away with being passive aggressive, because only people who are smart enough to see behind words would be able to tell that the speaker is passive aggressive. The nagging musician reminds me of me, but nowhere near as informed. Since I usually know what I'm talking about, hah hah. There was something else I observed. Many of the fans of conscious rappers, seem to be more white/asian (at least from their myspace pages). I think that's just myspace. Either that or White/Asians just listen to anything. I always thought that it was just the cats from the hood who listen to the political conscious rap, because they're actually living the life that the songs revolve around. Now Immortal Technique, I'll agree that he has more of a multi cultural fanbase. Probably because he looks multi cultural himself. (He says "nigga" a lot. Even though he doesn't look black. Though I hear that he's Afro Peruvian so it all comes together.) Personally speaking I typically see a shit load of Wiggers & Asian wankstas listening to the mainstream rap bullshit. I see a lot of goofy ass Asians & White folks rocking to horrible as Lil' Jon geared up in these over sized chains, & shit. It's embarrassing every time I see these pousers. It's bad enough that Black folks are listening to that bullshit. It's even worse that I see Whites & Aisans rocking to that noise as well. http://www.rightwingnews.com/archives/week_2003_02_23.PHP Typical Right wing bullshit. Then again the argument could be made that Paris spouts typical Liberal bullshit. The difference between the two is that Paris tries to establish a ground for communication. Whereas that guy spews typical Fox news rhetoric. Creating a hey "let's hang this motha fucka!" mob mentality. I actually lean more towards the Right myself, but it annoys me how the right is full of so many assholes talking out of their ass.
