Movies you were hyped up to see...
But turned out to be dissapointing. Number one on my list is Takeshi Kitano's "Brother". They were advertising that movie like crazy in Japan. It even had it's own rap video. I went in thinking the movie was going to be some shoot em up fest. Suffice to say I was dissapointed after viewing. It wasn't untill 2 yrs. later when I saw Brother again on the HBO channel. That I finally realized what Brother was going for. Upon second viewing I realized that Brother really wasn't that bad at all. I was just expecting something else, considering all the funny ass advertising Brother had going on in Japan. ---- BTW I haven't been online lately because my internet connection is messed up & I just spent over an hour deleting spam accounts from the forum. I'll try to update Musashi's file 7 editorial later on this week or next month.

My friend wanted to go see Epic movie when it came out (I know I know). So we went to see it. There were only two things that were comical, a reference to Kanye West making himself look retarded by saying the President doesn't care about black people...he probably doesn't even know who the president is anyway. And another part with Fred Willard where he fought this one guy in a kung fu type fight. well they kept switching between him and this Chinese guy doing the stunts. That was funny, but the rest was retarded. I was hyped up about it, but my buddy wanted to go see it. I told him, "You know it's going to be really bad right?" before we went in to see it.

The Transporter, it looked pretty awesome and was written by Luc Besson, but it turned out to just be another (very) dumb action flick.

ConSmithsAngel- 03-28-2007

The Tomb raider movie....... guh!

Dalemushashi- 03-28-2007

The Returner was a disapointment for me, I thought I was gonna see an awesome unique action flick like Versus, but it turned out to be a big rip-off. It stole concepts from so many other movies, all hollywood films too.

KIRBY 7- 03-29-2007

Holy shit, the movies y'all are mentioning really are shitty. At least "Brother" actually was a good movie. I was just expecting it to be a *Dumb as hell, but fun* movie like Versus. Due to the way it was advertised in Japan. The Transporter, it looked pretty awesome and was written by Luc Besson, but it turned out to just be another (very) dumb action flick. The funniest thing about Transporter is that you can't understand a damn thing either one of the protaganists says. Shu Qi has a heavy chinese accent & Jason Staham has the most typical cockney british accent I've ever heard in a long while. There were only two things that were comical, a reference to Kanye West making himself look retarded by saying the President doesn't care about black people...he probably doesn't even know who the president is anyway. I still laugh at the look on Chris Tuckers face when Kanye was acting up. He was like "Shut up negro!. You making us all look stupid!" I friggin' hate it when ethnic minorities rely on the ever so convenient "Race card" to make a political statement.

I get the feeling Luc Besson must have been paid $50 to write the story, and did it in the same amount of time a high school student takes to finish their homework. It actually made his script for Kiss of the Dragon look like a masterpiece. And if anything, Katrina seemed like it was really an issue of social class than race.

WARNING: I'M ABOUT to EXPRESS MY OPINIONS BELOW! I ain't trying to flame or troll, just speaking my mind. Heh, it seems like I have a sense, that a particular hyped movie is going to end up dissapointing: Superman Returns War of the Worlds King Kong Mission Impossible 3 At least on some level. For me personally, I had a gut feeling way back when Star Wars Episode 1 was coming out, that it was gonna suck. And it did. Don't try to tell me otherwise. Same goes for all the other new SW movies. Jurassic Park 3: I was a huge fan of the JP movies mainly due to my childhood. But the third one blew. Why did they go back to Isla Sorna? Why not Isla Nublar? And of course the cliche plot twist that Grant's buddy was trying to get rich quick off dino eggs. Devils Rejects: weak characters, predictable twists, and of course, it wasn't as gory and bloody Rob tried to sell in the trailers. The "dark comedy" bits also were lame. I was never happier to see the main characters of a movie get killed off. And for the record, Rob Zombies wife is not hot. Get over it. Remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Again, not as gory and bloody as I thought. Its also lame when masked killers take their masks off. It ruins their character. Endo Facto. Thank God R. Lee Ermey was awesome. Saw 2: ahh what a crap fest. The first one was alright. I'm a fan of trying new things and it always interests me when a director wants to use only one major location for hte story to take place in. But the second suffered from the "acclaim" the first one got and it fucked up the formula. Setting the location inside a house filled with traps was just lame. It totally ruined the clasterphobic feeling the first movie gave you. The trap were also lame, I saw a few of them coming, like the dude getting burned up inside the cremator. Others were just stupid. The pit of dirty needles was, yup you guessed it, lame. The twist that the cop's kid was with old jiggy balls was also lame. Van Helsing: Dracula lays eggs. Should I go on? Ultraviolet: HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE script. One of a few movies I actually fast forwarded through the non-action scenes. But the action was pretty cool. Transporter 2: I actually thought the first one was was pretty cool. But the second was just stupid. Most of the action scenes were too over the top in a stupid way. The crazy chick assassin, is not hot. And her fighting dude by hanging off the drapes, yeah lame as shit. And why would you fight people with a fire hose? WHY? Did you forget you had hands and feet? The plane fight was gay, and the blew up a lambo, which in my book is blasphemy (I'm a exotic car nut, sorry). Land of the Dead: proof that Romero should retire. STUPID STUPID STUPID plot. Smart zombies? Thats as gay as George Clooney playing Batman. At least Dennis Hopper made me laugh. The gore was pretty tough, but still rather tame by my standards. Anythign after Matrix 1: I think I said shit about this in another thread. Heres the recap: The matirx is for fags, and the plot is still simple in my eyes. Yeah so the world is fake, and the one I live in is shit. Wow, like thats never been filmed before, should have stayed as only one film. Deep Blue Sea: Smart sharks? hmm, go read above why I said Land of the Dead was gay. But there is one redeeming scene, and you guessed it, Sam Jackson getting eaten by a shark. I laughed my ass off! I will stop now. I do agree with some of the aforemoentioned Japanese movies in this thread as being dissapointing. I will end this post wiht one further comment: DOOM THE MOVIE KICKED ASS! YEAH!

Lisker- 04-01-2007

You mentioned some pretty stellar disapointments.

True Grave- 04-02-2007

Thank you Lisker! But what can I say? I have seen some movies where the hype didn't dissapoint. But when I hear about how good "movie" was, and it really wasn't, well I gotta let em know. I feel the same for certain video games, of course. Just off the top of my head: GTA Halo Fable Prince of Persia Madden Pokemon Metroid obviously, Devil May Cry 2 Need for Speed Heh I'll bet I didnt' surprise anyone here, ya'll know me well enough so far! I'll add to the movie list later.

ConSmithsAngel- 04-03-2007

ya kinda surprised me...with Metroid and Prince of persia... and the Pokemon games are alright,I mean I'd take the games over the show anyday!

Jedilink- 04-05-2007

Dude have you even seen Day of the Dead? There's a huge main focus of the film being on Bub, a "smart" zombie! Romero didn't just up and plop this new idea on our laps, he showed bits in Dawn of the Dead (the best of them all in my opinion! :D), but went further with it (much further) in Day of the Dead. And the chick in Transporter 2 IS HOT! I totally wanted her sitting on my lap the whole time I was watching her on screen. :P Haha. Superman Returns was more about "let's make REALLY PRETTY pictures of Superman...and just forget to pt an actual interesting storyline in there." Plus...who in the world would live on that...THING Lex Luther created anyway!?!?!? It's a giant rock thingy that grew out of the ocean, you can't develop it in ANY WAY! Spacey went crazy on this one man.

Lisker- 04-05-2007

And the chick in Transporter 2 IS HOT! ...I feel compelled to agree.

Sal- 04-05-2007

HUGE !

True Grave- 04-05-2007

Well sorry guys, you don't have to worry about me when dividing her up. I'd rather have the chick from Transporter 1. On a flip side to this topic, I will say that I am hyped to see GRINDHOUSE. I certainly hope I didn't waste my time tomorrow night, and end up dogging it here...
