This is the reason why I've been posting in the forum more often these days & why I barely ever update.
(I remember a while back that I would only post once a month.)
Nobody ever uses or reads the main site, heh heh.
(Hey it gives moi a reason to shirk my duties to this site.)
So I came to the realization that directing individuals to what Killer 7 was really about would be best suited here.
(Which is why most of my story related pages are still under construction, I've been posting most of the info that I'm planning to host at this forum instead.)
Here's the scan...
It's nothing much, but the info contained in that page is far more reliable than most of the crack pot theories that I've seen floating around the net.
The excerpt about Kun Lan & Harman reinforces my belief that Harman & Kun were merely supposed to represent an embodiment or physical manifestation of an "Idea" rather than actual people.
The Eastern threat ordeal relates with the amendment of Article 9 in order for Japan to remilitarize & defend it self from the rest of Asia.
(China,Both Koreas,Russia,etc.)
onez- 04-02-2007
thanks, that was just what I needed!
onez- 04-02-2007
just one more thing...
does the interview continue on to the next page?
if so, could you post a scan of that too, please?
thank you very much
KIRBY 7- 04-02-2007
Nope, that's all there is.
From what I can recall at least.
(That's my sister's copy of the book since I don't actually own a copy of the brady guide.
The only American related K7 material that I own is the game itself.)
Hence why I said it's nothing much.
It's only purpose IMO is that the interview gives you a lil' insight from the designer (Suda51) of what he was going for when he wrote the game.
Lisker- 04-02-2007
I've been wondering for a while, is that the only interview Suda 51's ever given about the Killer 7 story?
onez- 04-03-2007
I was wondering: Suda says the missiles launchet towards japan have been destroyed...
by who?
since the US have turned the negotiations down, it wouldn't make sense that the president launched the fireworks
still, if the japanese in the US had such power to influence the president on the launch of the fireworks, why didn't they do it before?
and the dialogue between Garcian and Mills at the end of sunset is quite suggesting that japan will be hit (according to Hand in Killer7 japan is hit by the missiles...)
Mills: What can you do when the whole world has its eyes on you?
Garcian: Almost everything. Destroying one or two nations, heh, it's an
easy task here. The promise made thirty years ago wasn't a guarantee, it
was only the beginning of a countdown.
Look at them, they're headed toward hell.
Mills: What's sad is that we've gotten used to this, I mean our senses.
It's pathetic.
Garcian: That doesn't necessarily mean that we're not human.
Mills: Okay, now you're not helping.
I think japan is hit by the missiles, what do you guys think?
KIRBY 7- 04-08-2007
The interview makes it clear that Japan was hit by the "Eastern Threat".
Any body who is familiar with the current hedgemony in Asia would know that the Eastern Threat refers to Korea & China, because they still feel that Japan is an Imperial threat to them.
(Eastern Threat also refers to Russia who has stolen some islands from Japan during WW II.)
Allow I to disect every point you made.
since the US have turned the negotiations down, it wouldn't make sense that the president launched the fireworks
Shortly after Fukushima died, Matsuken assume the reins & manipulated the vote (Using American citizens who are actually spies for Japan.)
to convince the president to unleash the fireworks.
still, if the japanese in the US had such power to influence the president on the launch of the fireworks, why didn't they do it before?
Fukushima was planning to barter the Yakumo cabinet policy in order to coerce the President of the United States to unleash the fire works.
and the dialogue between Garcian and Mills at the end of sunset is quite suggesting that japan will be hit (according to Hand in Killer7 japan is hit by the missiles...)
Japan was already targetted by nuclear missles at the beggining of Sunset.
This is how the conflict of Killer 7 began:
Japan & the U.S made a pact after WW II. The U.S. broke the pact, because they did not bother to protect Japan when she was in danger. Matsuken arised from the bottom of Japan's UN political party & saved Japan by manipulating the votes in Japan's favour before she was destroyed by the Eastern Threat.
Matsuken being deeply angered at how the United States left his country for dead than decides to cultivate some designs (Plans/methods) in order to raise a army that was big enough to unleash total war against the United States.
Matsuken's trump cards were that he had the loyal support of American citezens who do not actually support the United States & he also has knowledge about the supposeed "democracy" of the United States.
This knowledge about the democractic fraud of the United States was enough for Matsuken to gain enough support from the global U.N. parties to initiate an attack on the U.S.
----
Read up on the Japanese constitution about the pact they made with thr U.S. peace treaty.
30+ yrs ago during the the peace treaty that Japan signed with the U.S. they made an agreement with the U.S. to relinquish all forms of military might. Since Japan is forbidden to ever raise an army that is strong enough to deter all threats to the nation.
Japan's only hope for defense against a nuclear threat is through the use of the United State's nuclear umbrella.
If Japan were to amend Article 9 of the peace treaty, they would no longer have to rely on the shaky relationship with the United States for soveriegn protection.
The basis for this political reality, is pretty much the focal point of Killer 7's story.

This blog comment gets striaght to the point
Alliances can be useful, even vital, but I think it’s foolish to rely on a foreign country for national defence. Although American soldiers are well-equipped, competent and numerous, they don’t have the ultimate incentive to die for Korea or Japan. Scaling down US presence in the region could result in a normal, healthy defence policy for Japan. As for Korea, the costs will be great, sure, but at least the result will be a reliable, coherent military.
…or a future as a vassal state of China. But I’m an optimist.
No offense but the last post you made is a prime example IMO of how most Killer 7 fans make the story out to be more complicated than it actually is.
Perhaps it's most likely due to their limited understanding of politics & the like.
All the answers that people seek (regarding the political story line) can be found within the game.
It just so happens that most people seem to ignore what Travis or Iwazaru say during their conversations.
(Prolly because they're not voiced.)
Word of advice.
Only Iwazaru & Travis tell you concrete details about the plot of Killer 7.
All the cut scenes & voice overs are merely just metaphors that help illustrate the points that both Iwazaru & Travis try to make.
In the grand scheme of the game, you can only count on Iwazaru & Travis to fill you in on what's actually going on in the plot.
Much of the Political dialogue in Killer 7 rings true to what is actually going on in the real world. (Or in Japan at least.)
Hell I can even link y'all to several blogs which are pretty much dedicated to the same exact conflict that is being rpresented in Killer 7.
(Although I already have countless times already.)
The dillema I have with most Killer 7 fans is that they want to view the plot of K7 as something supernatural, angsty or obtusely weird when in my opinion K7's story is nothing more than physical embodiment of a political debate.
You can even label the story themes after debate terms.
The most obivous being the Good v.s. Evil theme.
(Which I have labeled as the Red Herring, which was meant to delude gamers simply by how obtuse & ridiculous the Good vs Evil concept is in the first place.)
I've been wondering for a while, is that the only interview Suda 51's ever given about the Killer 7 story?
I'm pretty sure he has. They're probably only in Japanese though.
He was interviewed for the story of FSR, & there's even a website made by the Japanese game site, Gpara which is dedicated to deciphering the symbolism/metaphors/story of FSR.
http://www.gpara.com/special/soft/fsr/r00.htm
Funny thing is, I've never seen a Japanese story wiki for Killer 7 yet.
I guess it's most likely due to the fact that Killer 7 was a world wide flop. (Even in Japan.) Whereas FSR & Silver Case were popurlar enough to be re released 3 times.
Don't believe what some American sites say, their info is wrong.
http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3154460
This site portrays Killer 7 as if it was that big of a hit. When in reality both FSR & Silver Casewere & are still more popular in Japan than Killer 7 ever was.
IMO Killer 7 is just the gateway drug that introduces us to Suda's trademark style.
Seriously I don't understand where that 1up article got their info from.
If Silver Case was an unpopular game, why is it that it has been re released as part of the Best hits series whereas Killer 7 has not.
FSR on the other hand was re released two times due to it's popularity.
What often cracks moi up about Suda 51 games is how when Suda 51 is interviewed by the foreign press outside of Japan he'll often act like the games such as Silver Case,Moonlight Syndrome & FSR don't exist.
Mainly because nobody ever brings them up, & people don't know much about the games in the first place.
In Japan they will constantly bring up his past games such as FSR & Silver Case since they were both cult hits which sold enough to be re released as grea-*test*-('") hits.

KIRBY 7- 04-14-2007
Well the U.S. does have Military bases stationed in South Korea, & if total war were declared with North Korea or China it would be the U.S. armed forces who are stationed in Korea who would take the majority of the casualties.
I highly doubt that the South Korean military would dare raise arms to their brethren in the North. Since most South Koreans have been brainwashed to think that the North Korean dictator is actually a misunderstood saint & that the Japanese & the United States are their main oppresors.
In reality Japan & the U.S. are supposed to be South Korea's closest allies, but for some reason the government of South Korea paints a portrait of Japan & the U.S. as evil empires.
What's ironic about the whole situation is that North Korea wouldn't think twice about gassing their brothers to the South. Yet most citizens of South Korea are too busy vilifying Japan & the U.S.
(Most of which happen to either be fabricated or exaggerrated incidents meant to instill extreme nationalism to the country of South Korea.)

That is one of the most backward things I've ever heard.

Perhaps, but everything I've said is based off reality.

I find it alarming, how the United States is still in alliance with a country that openly antagonizes them.
Lisker- 05-01-2007
I find it alarming, how the United States is still in alliance with a country that openly antagonizes them.Well Bush seems to have a real buddy sort of relationship with Putin (funny how both of them are surrounded by controversy involving accusations of robbing their citizens of their rights as well as executing a massive takeover and replacing democracy with a sycophantic government), and U.S. companies have been getting pretty 'friendly' with the Chinese government. And then there's Iraq. It's not a first for Americans to turn their allies away and involve themselves with people who want to see them burn in hell, because they always think it will be beneficial in the long-run. Even if it brings about the rise of a man who leads an assault on their own shores.
