The only reason why this game sold was its flawless gameplay.
In the end, that's all that really matters.
Itagaki knows how to sell & package games. You said it yourself.
and had a big titty super chick to be your partner.
Itagaki is all about the dollar bill. (His games are more popoular in the U.S.)
I wish I could say that Oneechanbara sells because of it's gameplay, but I only love these games, because I love 70's exploitation/grind house films.
Onee games are popolar in Japan, but the only reason why is because the girls are hot.
I see a lot of people on the net comparing NMH to Oneechanbara, but I can't con-*test*-('") that, because it's true.
Both games are more about the style than the gameplay itself.
Although I see a lot of folks saying that Onee lacks style & originality.
I seriously can't think of any other game that combines zombies, hot pornstar chicks, swords & guns & manages to turn it into some wacky ass 70's exploitation shit. (People like to throw around the word ANIME, but shit people do that with Killer 7 as well. K7 is more like a Tarrantino/Miike film than anything else.)
The only thing that really comes close to Oneechanbara's style is NMH (NMH has more style) & Kitamura's movie "Versus"
(Versus has the same exact concept as Oneechan. Just replace badass Yakuza with sexy ass babes dressed like Las Vegas whores.)
anyways here is new trailer with jap chick in hit doing bad cosplay, however game itslef looks better for wii
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29951.html
When the hell will D3 get it right & hire a pornstar to cosplay Aya?
(I can think of at least five women who could play the Aya role well. Sana Yoshizaki is who I'd bank my money on.)
Even Sega hired a pornstar for Yakuza 2, Suda 51 himself pimps out erotic celebrities from Japan.
LULZ at all the retard comments at gametrailers.
People are complaining about the lack of blood splatter on their clothes.
The funny thing is that collateral blood splatter on these chicks clothes is actually an integral part of the gameplay.
So I don't know wtf they're complaining about.
I almost had a heart attack laughing at the "lack of realism" comment.
It's a fucking video game. Fuck realism! The only thing that should be realistic are the character motivations & personalities.
ALthough in a game like Oneechanbara the only thing that matters is how exploitive the game can get while avoiding the censors at the same time.
The Wii game looks like it has an improved combo system, unfortunately it all goes down the dumpster, because of the waggle controls.
It takes out all the timing & precision that was once needed in order to play these games. (The right way.)
Just look at the sword slash combo. That girl just swings her wii stick from left to right.
In the PS2 game you actually had to time your button presses in conjunction with the third animation frame during your basic combo.
The controls for the Wii game look more noob friendly.
(Like a Dynasty Warriors game.)
I take back what I said earlier. I guess the Wii game really does play like Dynasty Warriors.
(Onee 2 & up had a battle system that was a direct rip off of DMC.)
I finally got my new youtube account up, so I'll upload some videos of myself playing Oneechanbara the way it's supposed to be played.
All these bastards I see online for some reason or another... have no f'ng idea how to pull off a lot of these special moves & combos in the game.
They just press square over & over. (It's annoying. It's like watching some scrub playing Street Fighter who can't do a basic two hit combo.)
yea but we all have seen what happens when virtua fighter gets incorporated into a beat em up you get virtua quest
Virtua Quest was the result of some retarded fat guys in suits.
Who felt that marketting Virtua FIghter to kids would be a success.
No (9 yr. old) kids play Virtua Fighter, wtf were they thinking?
The actual Virtua Fighter engine was just misused.
Yeah I know about Shenmue, but Grave already pointed out why it failed.
I wish the Yakuza games would use Virtua Fighter's battle system.
(Same company, different development team.)
Yakuza's battle system sucks. It relies on cheap gimmicks.
The heat moves are badass, I just wish they were actually incorporated into the game play. (Rather than just pressing triangle to do some badass shit.)
Yakuza 2 is a lot better, but that's because they implemented more QTE during battles. (The battle system is still one lame ass gimmick, but at least it's not as noticeable as the first game.)
Remember when Shimano would try to throw you into a speeding car in Yakuza?
Yakuza 2 is filled with badass attacks like that.
