Fulgor- 11-28-2007

I've never played Saga frontier, neither the sequel, but the music is good in both games, but I prefer the music from Unlimited saga though, I notice the game got bashed because instead of going around a map you played like in a board game, but the art style of the game was excellent, like painted with a wet brush. Anyway, here are some of the tracks I like from the game: http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+1%2F112+Battle+Theme+III.mp3 Seriously, this is one of my favorite battle themes songs ever in a game, some type of mariachi-esque song, iit's like the Passionate Rhythm of this game. http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2%2F209+BT+Ver.4.mp3 Not much not say about this, but it is catchy http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2%2F210+BT+Ver.5.mp3 Sounds like some type of James bond movie song http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2%2F216+BT+Ver.8.mp3 Another catchy tune http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2%2F213+BT+Ver.6.mp3 An up beat one http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2%2F217+Challenge+to+the+Seven+Wonders.mp3 It has a reminiscence of the ogre battle soundtrack http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2%2F205+BT+Ver.1.mp3 I really like this one too, it's kinda jazzy More here: http://bluelaguna.net/music/usaga/mp3s.php You should also try Bahamut lagoon,an excellent tactical game for the SNES, originally it was going to be Final Fantasy Tactics, but they changed the setting at last moment. And it got the one best animations I've ever seen in a 2D RPG http://www.coolrom.com/roms/snes/1009/Bahamut_Lagoon.php

I like this song from Unlimited SaGa. It sounds like some experimental reggae ish. http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/mp3s/usagaost/Disc+2/208+DG+''mixture''.mp3 I notice the game got bashed because instead of going around a map you played like in a board game, but the art style of the game was excellent, like painted with a wet brush. Yup, I'm one of the many who bashed that game. I bought US at launch & I returned the game a day after. It felt too much like one of those goddamn D&D board games. I don't like spending 50$ on a video game that plays like a damn board game. The problem I had with US is that it was way too hard to be immersed within the games world. That & it seemed to be pretty linear like SF 2. (Which also sucked. SF 2 & US had the best ost's though.) You should also try Bahamut lagoon,an excellent tactical game for the SNES, originally it was going to be Final Fantasy Tactics, but they changed the setting at last moment. Bahamut Lagoon was boring, imo. To me that game represents everything that is wrong with the tactic strategy genre. It requires no thinking, & it's all about power grinding. (Like Disgaea, which also sucks.) The only Tactics strategy game I like is Tactic's Ogre. (Who coincidentally originated the concept in the first place. Every other grid based tactic game is actually based off the engine that Quest made a decade ago.) IMO they were the only dev team to get the "Tactics" formula right. It's a sad shame that Square gets all the credit for FF Tactics. (Many people believe that the class system came from FF 5, when the one used in Tactics was actually from Tactics Ogre.) The only other tactic game that I like, and I believe is the best of all fucking time is the Langrisser series http://coes.lakuuna.org/ Gameplay http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJmoEgSVS2o&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhKiOTG7TOY&feature=related What made that game kick ass is that you get to control an entire army. Not some small ass platoon. It's a sad shame that it's spiritual successor, Growlanser is nowhere near as good. When I say I like strategy games, I'm typically referring to games like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFG9SX4UUIs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0WJZtuPvHY Most of them happen to be Koei games. Nobunaga's Ambition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_usb_FtmbM&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_fik07i2Yk&feature=related Aerobiz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgPRoudmEYI These games hella forced you to think 5 years ahead about the consequences of your actions. Unlike most games, diplomacy is actually one of the majour gameplay components of Koei strat. titles. (Diplomacy is a mere gimmick in most games.)

Finished maseffect. Pros Music is awesome, if you are in ambient electronica you will die for it. It has bladerunner and deusex vibe to it. But ofcourse not as good as Deusex. Sex scene Alien chick is hot, her name is liara, she now my la-*test*-('") top videogame character. She belongs to asari race. She can have sex with both males and females. She get into you psychologically and stimulate themsleves, inheriting traits to upcoming child. There is another race called krogans(looks like chicken/hen, they have 4 -*test*-('")icles and each cost 10,000 making the whole pack 40,000). Character models and some of the planets are just jawdropping. Story script is really well crafted. you feel for characters. Cons Texture popin too much, even the scene cuts before texture can load. Planets are mostly empty with same enemy types. It feels like stage is set for sequels. Sexscene is short, the humantohuman sexscene should have been long like alien scene. Lags and slowdowns are common. Loading in between is common. game loads too much , in elevators, in galaxy map and shit. there are strange glitches. Story is ripoff of halo and other scifi, though give reasons for evrything. Only 2 tough choices ,which arent so tough. Game has not path bending choices like wayofsamurai, desusex, rawdanger etc. Nothing like that, evrything promised was bullshit superficial. My biggest complain is gamelength. I finished in 13hrs thats it. Sidequests ended in 2hrs, thats it. After 60 hrs of oblivion, 2 months of deusex, 1month of bloodlines you get such a short rpg...wtf. kane and lynch is utter crap, even worst than halflife 2 episode 2.Cliched storyline. Area51 blacksite also comes in same category of shit games of 2007. Eternal sonata is getting too childish and hard for rpg skills, so i am quiting it. The lack of camera control is bothering me. The pleasure of beautiful graphcis dissipates when you cant control camera. My best picks of 2007 Best soundtrack Roguegalaxy crisiscore darkness masseffect Best story darkness best gfx over all uncharted callofduty 4 Best character models masseffect darkness best presentaion and detail darkness best game no one will play rawdanger worst game already mentioned best sound uncharted manhunt2 most hyped bullshit a creed best gameplay spiderman 3 TRA Best chick Liara and oneechanbara chick forgot her name

True Grave- 11-30-2007

Hahahaha! Great list! I'll have to think up one for my own use. Heh, interesting stuff you said there about mass effect. Though I will not play it myself (can't stand RPGs) its interesting to hear about it from someone who has a good background in RPG games. And Kane and Lynch was really that bad? Man I was hoping for that one to be successful... If I had to add to your list, soundtrack-wise, I'd have to add, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles and Silent Hill Origins.

KIRBY 7- 11-30-2007

best game no one will play rawdanger I wish I could play that game. Nobody has it, because Gamestop supposedly doesn't carry "crappy games" It's why I'm friggin' hating gaming these days. It's fucking hard as hell to find quality games, simply because nobody wants to stock them. Only 2 tough choices ,which arent so tough. Game has not path bending choices like wayofsamurai, desusex, rawdanger etc. Nothing like that, evrything promised was bullshit superficial. Fuck Mass Effect then. I'm not bothering with that game. Bioware has seriously fallen off. The Kotor games sucked, Jade Empire was full of way too many Western asian stereotypes for I to swallow. (It's like the Japanese quivalent of making a game based in the West where everybody looks like Peter Griffin.) Neverwinter Nights 2 was a colossal disappointment & Mass Effect seems to be a decent game made solely for the console gamer in mind. Here's to hoping that Bioware's Sonic the Hedgehog rpg is a hit. (My ass. A Sonic rpg? Come on. Who honestly needs that shit. Sonic is about speed. Rpgs are not known for their speedy gameplay.) Have you tried out Swashbucklers: Blue Vs Grey http://en.akella.com/Game.aspx?id=4 yet? I'm thinking about getting that game. I heard that it was very similar to Way of the Samurai & Sid Meier's pirates. Sure it has a 4 rating in IGN, but that review was poorly written so I don't trust it. kane and lynch is utter crap, Is it at least as decent as Freedom Fighters? That's all I'm really hoping for, plus Kane & Lynch look fucking badass. So what exactly is the story anyway? I was expecting the story in Kane & Lynch to be some suspense/thriller that revolved around a cast of clinically insane retards like Suda 51's "Silver Case" forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=791&start=7" target="_blank">http://killer7.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=791&start=7 Most of the characters in SC are completely insane nut cases. Than again I had a similar disappointment with the story for Hitman Blood Money. I was expecting this big epic showdown with a rival agency. Only to find out that when I got to the Albino. All I had to do was assemble my Sniper rifle & shoot him in the head. (Talk about anti climatic.) That's the problem with IO. They come up with some original, creative crazy ass ideas for plots & characters, but they always lack the writing skill necessary to follow up with their inventive concepts. oneechanbara chick forgot her name Aya Ayame

I wish I could play that game. Nobody has it, because Gamestop supposedly doesn't carry "crappy games" It's why I'm friggin' hating gaming these days. It's fucking hard as hell to find quality games, simply because nobody wants to stock them.I just go online to find games, like half.ebay.com, they have pretty much everything. Pretty much.

Visionnerz- 11-30-2007

Yeah I've had to buy the last half dozen or so "budget" titles on Amazon since most stores won't carry them. Fire Pro Wrestling Returns being the most recent.

KIRBY 7- 12-01-2007

Fire Pro Wrestling came back to the West? Since when? That's the type of game that would give buisness execs a heart attack, because of the way it looks. Damn where have I been? It seems like all the classics are coming back, now that Sony's regulations over the PS2 have become lax lately. Even Nobunaga's Ambition. The king of strategy simulation games is coming back. (Next Feb.) --- I can't order online, because none of my credit cards work. Although I do order from amazon from time to time. (Mostly cult exploitation films though.)

Visionnerz- 12-01-2007

Yeah, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns was released by the same publisher that brought Raw Danger. Only this time, they didn't turn all the Japanese characters into blonde Americans. A good localization for only $15.

Lisker- 12-02-2007

I got sega genesis classics collection, or whatever it's called. It goes without saying I bought it just for the Shinobi games. Though why the two arcade titles were excluded is beyond me, when they included several other arcade games. And I heard the reason Revenge of Shinobi was left out was because of the Batman character, and the legal issues with DC. Why they couldn't use the version where Batman's replaced by a bat, I don't understand, but they didn't. So they left the whole game out. Goddamnit. Honestly, I'm finding that a surprising number of these games suck. I vaguely remember playing an old Alex Kidd game, but this one was boring. It's definitely a standard platformer at best. Plus it's annoying how if you just stand there trying to punch a regular enemy, they'll usually get you somehow. Which is irritating when you only have a few lives and take one hit before dying. Altered Beast probably would be a lot funner as an arcade game, since you'd have more than two lives to go through the entire game. Considering there's no temporary invinciblity when you get hit, it's not uncommon to lose an entire life to an enemy that's repeatedly raping you. Super Harrier or something...sucks. Bad. This seems like a game that no one on Earth would want to play after games like Star Fox, it just seems to be a game trying to impress people with it's '3D' graphics, but if you're used to even Super NES quality graphics, this isn't going to entertain you for a second. Golden Axe is alright, though it hasn't really seemed that interesting to me. I've played it several times on various platforms, and I've never gotten what it was that made it so popular. It's okay, I just never understood what made it so beloved by fans, other than the fact that it's a medival version of Double Dragon. A game that's really surprised me is Gaining Ground. It's like a strategy shooter, with various characters you start out with, using different weapons for each of them, with other characters you can rescue and recruit on several stages, with up to twenty available. It's actually pretty addictive, compared to many of the games that I've had trouble playing for more than a few minutes.

Jedilink- 12-02-2007

While PN03 isn't the best, it's fun to play once in a while. I mean, it's something to pick up when I just want to blast like crazy at everything. :P As for SMG, I'd love to play this one but I've still got Mass Effect, Manhunt 2, Oblivion, and way more to get through first. :P As for my thoughts on Oblivion, I think it's a great game. It's one of those game where if you REALLY want to you can play it and play it and play it, but with me I'll probably come back to it, play something else, come back to it and so on. Not that it's bad it's just that the game is so incredibly huge that you can play it for almost as long as you want...although I don't know how hardcore some of you guys here are or anything. I'll probably finish it over the next year or so in between countless other titles. I know it'll take forever though so I'm fine with that. I really like just the whole package. The fighting is infinitely better than Morrowind's weirdness. In Oblivion I ALWAYS know when I hit someone. In Morrowind you weren't always sure when you hit the guy or not. I think that Oblivion really does an almost countless number of things and seems to get pretty much all of it right (so far anyway). :D

decoy- 12-02-2007

I loved oblivion, enchanting visuals and and music. I cant enough of music, right now playing expansion pack shivering isles, it doesnt have charm of original. Also the darkbrotherhood missions are pure awesome in original oblivion.

Visionnerz- 12-02-2007

Super Harrier or something...sucks. Bad. This seems like a game that no one on Earth would want to play after games like Star Fox, it just seems to be a game trying to impress people with it's '3D' graphics, but if you're used to even Super NES quality graphics, this isn't going to entertain you for a second. I take it you didn't play in arcades much. While the home versions for Mega Drive and Genesis sucked, the original arcade game from 1985 was awesome. Revolutionary for its time like most of Yu Suzuki's games. It was also the first motion-cabinet to come out even before After Burner.

Dalemushashi- 12-02-2007

Space Harrier is awesome, I don't know what Lisker's problem is.

Lisker- 12-02-2007

No wait, it was Super Thunder Blade. Some helicopter shooter. Not Space Harrier, that was pretty cool. Super Thunder Blade was pretty dull though.
