Ghost Hunter, the Ghostbusters rip-off? I thought it was boring. Yeah it was an almost direct ripoff, but man the game was fun! Instead of a puzzle-heavy survival horror(i suck at these) or a straightfoward action game with a shallow battle system that you use against countless palette swaps, it was kind of a mix of the two, minus the bad parts! The De Montford mention is awesome, I think i played though it thrice in a row! The Ghost ship's great too. Though I agree that the game could have used more gun and the developpers could have given more depth to the astral parts of the game but other than that its a great game!

True Grave- 05-06-2007

Yeah I remember Ghosthunter. It was like every game mag hated it, cept for Play. But I saw that coming. I've got a new respect for Play actually. It seems like they actually play a game, give it some decent time, and give it a fair review. Like God Hand, and Killer 7, and Blood Will Tell.

BobTheDarkOne- 05-06-2007

I remember gamepro liking it a lot too. Which is weird since they hated K7 to death. It'd rank up with K7 in my book if the ending wasn,t so rushed and crappy. And what's the point of the astray if you can't even look at it again after the ghost ship level?

True Grave- 05-06-2007

Now I guess I'm gonna have to hunt down a copy.

BobTheDarkOne- 05-06-2007

I found my copy by pure chance. I played the swamp level once when i was 14 and i thought it was kinda cool, then the rent expired and i forgot about it for a while(and I never saw it again anywhere) until last saturday when i found it on the shelves of DimentionGames

KIRBY 7- 05-07-2007

I've been busy lately soaking up information like a sponge from JP suda related websites, getting ready for my big update. But I was disturbed when I read your post Bob,I'll make this one post just to ask why you think... It'd rank up with K7 in my book if the ending wasn,t so rushed and crappy. At least that's what I would've done untill I realized that you're referring to Ghost hunter & not K7,heh heh so uh never mind. (It pays to read every thing within context.) Had that comment been about K7's endings though, I'd have made a long novel length post detailing all the meanings of the endings. Thinking about it. I think I'll do that some day, but not now, since this site desperately needs an update. Though I'll leave off with some food for thought, & I'll go off topic as usual... An interesting thing that I learned from this website http://www28.atwiki.jp/2ch_killer7/ is that the last stage Lion is actually a reference to "The sleeping lion" China. I also learned that in Japan some people think that Harman has a silver eye of immortality. (Which is why there is more than one Harman Smith in the game.) Silver eye's don't actually grant immortality, they just allow you to live on in a different host or body. By consuming the concious of a potential stock body. Silver eye's were the main object of desire during the "Silver Case" murders. Another interesting note is that the Ed Macalister cameo has more meaning than I originally thought. As I've always been saying since this site first started one of Ed's purposes is to represent to the player that Garcian is coming closer to the truth. (Which is obvious if you've played FSR,because that cutscene is made to look & feel like your first conversation with Ed during FSR. He even has the same dialogue. "I remember all the faces of our guest's" The other purpose is a new one to me though. When Ed Macalister says "I remember all the names of our guests. Including your bag sir." When Ed talks about the bag, which is Garcian's weapon case. Ed was actually alluding to Sumio Mondo's attache case "KATHARINE" Which means that Ed was subtly referencing to recognizing Garcian Smith, because he's actually a stock body of Sumio Mondo from the game FSR. (Which perfectly explains why Killer 7 is the only Kill the past game http://www.killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/hotelfsr/hotelfsrsumio.html that he does not appear in. We were controlling him the whole time.) NOTE: Sumio Mondo's birthday is 1113. Although in the original version of FSR, his birthdate was any number that you Jacked in when asked for your birth date. In order to comprehend the concept a bit more clearly, you ought to be familiar with the Shin Megami Tensei games. More specificly the first Devil Summoner game. Folks at that site I just posted have noticed that Garcian dresses exactly the same as Kyouji Kuzunoha. Mr. Kuzunoha is a man who lost his body to some punk kid. He died protecting that kid, & the kid later died the same day. It wasn't time for that kid to die yet, so Death (Grim Reaper) gave the kid Kuzunoha's body. As a result during Devil Summoner 2 Soul Hackers Kuzunoha's concious took control of some occultist's body. If you played Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, there was a fat old guy named Thedoroki. Maya & crew were shocked to see how knowledgeable Theodoroki was about demons,& demon summoning considering that he doesn't look the type. The reality was the Thedoroki guy's body was actually stolen by Kyouji Kuzunoha a profesional Devil Summoner. The point that I'm getting at is that some people in Japan think that Emir Parkreiner is Sumio & Sumio is now in the body of a black man. (LOL! What's it like to be a handsome Japanese guy one day & later wake up in the body of a handsome African/Indian American man?) Course that's all just speculation, & we're still not sure if Killer 7 takes place in the same universe as (Moonlight Syndrome,SC, & FSR) The main reason being that the Silver Case timeline is at least 3 or 4 years behind the timeline of Killer 7. (Silver Case takes place in the present. The first SC was in 1999,SC 25 ward is during 2005,2006.) Here's an ending movie I made of Smile 2 to paint the picture more clearly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr_Epnj1ASs I've got a new respect for Play actually. It seems like they actually play a game, give it some decent time, and give it a fair review. Like God Hand, and Killer 7, and Blood Will Tell. There's a reason for that, like I said in the Bullet witch thread, Dave Halverson & the former staff from Diehard Gamefan are the same exact people who are responsible for Play magazine. Gamefan was the mag to buy if you were into import games & the whole hardcore gamer life style. These cats were repping Hideo Kojima (Because of Snatcher & Policenauts) way before everybody else jumped on the Kojima bandwagon with MGS. They also tried pushing rpgs to the mainstream, before everybody jumped on the bandwagon with FF VII. Suffice to say, these Die hard Gamefan cats were pretty much doing evey nerdy ass gaming trend that's considered cool now. Way before the current trend even became common place. Oh Topdrunkee you get 100 points for those awesome Kunoichi scans. Hibana = dirty sexual thoughts. Nah, that's just an attractive woman, this is dirty thoughts... I censored this pic, but you can pretty much make out what's going on in that pic. http://www.explicitskin.com/Members/Topdrunkee/Images/hibanacensored.JPG Ah yeah, once again I hijack another thread with the "H" factor. BTW what ever happened to your ava & sig? Hey did you guys hear about Orochi warriors? Its essentially Dynasty and Samurai Warriors combined which gives you a total of 70 playable characters as they fight to destroy Orochi. That game's old news, I've had since it released two months ago. It's like marvel vs capcom, everybody has exaggerated abilities. (Except Yoshimoto Imagawa.) Tokugawa has a humongous cannon laser, Nobunaga can do super combo psycho crushers, Honda can increase his speed & strength to the point that he moves like a speeding bullet,Zhou Tai has some hardcore combo skills, Zhen Ji has a 100 hand bitch slap & a move that slows everybody down. My favorite ability is Yue Ying's, She has an energy ball of death. If you hit somebody with the energy ball two times in a row the combo will go over 500 hits & the opponent will float up in the air. Here a blurry ass gameplay vid I made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA7dzR4tQP0 The best musou game ever made I liked Samurai Warriors 2 Empires a lot more, it had way more solid gameplay. Didn't play Samurai Warriors 2 though. The first SW sucked, but SW 2 recitified that. Yeah in general I prefer Samurai Warriors over Dynasty Warriors any day. Better characters, move sets, better a.i.,music that actually matches the time period. It's a sad shame DW is way more popular. (SW seems to get hated on by asian americans because it's based off the japanese sengoku period.) You don't really need SW2 since you've already played Empires. (Empires has better gameplay.) Only get SW2 if you want the story mode.

Ahhh! That artist, Azasuke Wind! I used to check out all his work back when vgbabes.com was a free site! I'm so pissed, that was my fave free hentai site. But I can't see it any more...even the free login is buggy on my computer (anybody wanna share a password with me?) And I'm gonna say, after you telling me this Topdrunkee, I'm baffled. I can't believe that yet again, Killer 7 has twisted me around. What a freaking, damn, I don't know what to say. Except that I need to study FSR, Silver Case more. Its a shame that Play isn't as popular as it should be. I guess they stay in business because they review anime and other J ish. I prefer that mag's graphical layout any day. Each issue cover is freaking sweeter then the next. Plus they are the proprietors of the great "girls of video games/anime" spin off mags. I like SW more than DW just becuase its Japanese history, I take ninjas and samurais over chinese warriors and kung fu any day.

Now ok...I NOW finally have a Gaystation 2....I have it, that doesn't mean I like it any better. :P ANYWAY! :P So in order to play FSR and Silver Case, do I need to mod the thing? Or can I use a Gameshark to do that instead? Are any of these games in English? I've taken a few Chinese language classes...but that's not Japanese anyway. But seriously, I'd like to play some of these games, I just hope that they at LEAST have English subtitles or SOMETHING. And I also hope I don't need to mod in order to play them. Let me know please. :)

True Grave- 05-08-2007

I'd say you'd have to buy a JPN PS2 as well as a copy of FSR (JPN) to play those games. Hell I need to do that too. But most likely they are in Japanese with no English subtitles. Unless Topdrunkee knows something we don't...

Dalemushashi- 05-08-2007

I wanna play Orochi so bad. People are once again complaining about the repetition. They are missing a simple fact and that is............Xiahou Dun and Miyamoto Musashi ARE IN THE SAME GAME! My screen name on another forum is Dalehoudun so its pretty easy to tell I'm a huge asain history nut. If you guys want to know about importing PS2 games check these http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/9942 http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=13172&highlight=ps2+mod+chips The topic of PS2 importing is discussed quite throughly on these two forums...read em.

Jedilink- 05-08-2007

Well can I use a Gameshark to be able to play the Japanese games though? I thought that at least one of the Gamesharks did that at some point.

Dalemushashi- 05-09-2007

A Gameshark or Action Replay will only support certaint imports. See if you can find a list of supported Japanese games on the GameShark website.

Jedilink- 05-09-2007

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but I couldn't find a list anywhere!

Dalemushashi- 05-09-2007

I honestly dont know whether the most recent versions of gameshark even have the import feature(I just kinda figured they did). I'd go with a boot disk or a mod chip(These dont support absolutly every game but probaly the ones you want to try). If you want to make damn sure you can play them get a Japanese PS2.

KIRBY 7- 05-11-2007

Its a shame that Play isn't as popular as it should be. I guess they stay in business because they review anime and other J ish. I prefer that mag's graphical layout any day. Play has the same loyal fanbase as Gamefan, considering that Play is written by the same writers of Gamefan. Hell I'd probably buy their magazine too if I still read vid game mags. (I grew up with Gamefan.) I like SW more than DW just becuase its Japanese history, I take ninjas and samurais over chinese warriors and kung fu any day. Actually Dynasty Warriors does have a Samurai -Zhou Tai, & there's only one kung fu guy -Ling Tong in the game. (Although he looks japanese.) Even so Dynasty Warriors is based off the Romance of the Three kingdoms period. (Shaolin monks & Kung fu didn't exist in China yet. Martial arts was still an Indian thang back then.) ROTK armies had more in common with Roman armies rather than that kung fu crap. Samurai Warriors is better anyway simply because it has better gameplay & ninja & samurais. Unless Topdrunkee knows something we don't... Y'all seem to be forgetting that I lived in Japan for about 4 or 5 years so obviously I use a Japanese PS2. FSR is confusing without Silver Case anyway, so I'd rather wait for the DS Silver Case re release if I were y'all. I didn't finally understand the final plot twist after the ending until I completed it again the other day. I had no idea that the FSR game actually changes it's art & sound design style to look like the Silver Case game after the credits roll. Since this is the ending thread... Here's a blurry vid of the last part of the last level. http://www.killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/fsrendcut.wmv The first Sumio who makes it to the airplane gate is actually Sundance. Which is why when Toriko comes up to talk to that Sumio only he can see & hear her. The two detectives cornered Sundance Shot & they aren't taking any chances since they know that he shot Sumio into a time slip. After the credits you see a cutscene of a fat guy, when you get a close up on him you find out that he's actually Tetsuguro from the Silver Case. Too bad that my quickcam just reocrded a bright blur of his face during the ending after the credits. Here's another vid showing Sumio ressurecting by shooting himself in the head. http://www.killer7.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/FSRSUNDANCE.wmv In FSR I think the Silver Case graphic style represents reality without the time distortion of Lospass. The last plot twist is that the fat guy who travels with Sumio was actually his old partner from the Silver Case, Tetsuguro Kusabi (Sumio saw him as Peter Bochwinkur though.) Which means that the person Peter Bochwinkur was looking for the entire time he was at Lospass resort was Toriko Kusabi. Unfortunately he ended up tracing a false lead, since Toriko Kusabi in FSR only existed as an angel of Sundance. Or something like that....heh heh I dunno. Go here to read more about what I though I saw or derived from the ending. forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=35&start=22" target="_blank">http://killer7.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=35&start=22
