"Sunshine", a sci fi film by Danny Boyle (28 Days I saw this film because 1. Danny Boyle and 2. I'm getting more and more interested in sci fi again.
This movie really is beautiful. I was lucky enough to see it at a bud's house who has HDTV and a PS3 so I took a blu ray trip on this one.
But the movie is really slick in story. In the year 2057, the sun is slowly buring out, and Earth is covered in winter. So humanity plans on "nuking" the sun to jump start it again, a star born in a star. The first space ship to try this was the Icarus 1. This movie documents Icarus 2, since 1 never finished its mission.
Aside from that, the movie runs so nice, good acting, excellent editing, and it boderlines with some of the scifi greats like 2001. Heh it even has a "Event Horizion" feel to it.
I fully reccomend it.

What I liked most was how the main plot progressed for pretty much the first half or so of the movie. There was a certain plot twist I didn't really enjoy in Sunshine because I thought it was completely unnecessary. There were a lot of characters in the film that had some great acting chemistry, some even had their own side stories to tell. I thought for certain characters they could've been expanded a little more but oh well.
I agree that it had some great shots and some smooth editing. Sunshine was alright overall, except for that one twist.

Is it REALLY SERIOUSLY any good?! Because to me it just sounds EXACTLY like The Core...but instead of going into the Earth they go to the sun.

I haven't seen The Core, but if you put it like that you'd probably tear your hair out at Sunshine.

I tried to like this movie, I really did. It looked good, the soundtrack was pretty kickass, but the second half of the movie became too cliched for my liking.
If you saw it, you would know what I mean.
