He really hit the nail on the head when he talked about the "magic" of the game. You really DON'T know what makes it so good, it just IS.

Is it wrong that I want this game now simply, because Sessler likes it?
Sessler is a fucking retard, but for some reason he has I convinced.
I honestly wasn't expecting a 5 out of him.
That's just like the time when Xplay unexpectingly gave SMT nocturne a 5.
(Course I already had that game imported 2 years prior.)
The thing with Sessler is that I normally have the same taste in bullshit games that he likes. (Or his ghost writers at least, since Morgan & Sessler don't actually play most of the games that they review.)
Edit: Typo expectingly should've rad as unexpectingly.

Sessler actually is pretty knowlegeable. He just plays an idiot on TV. :(

Adam Sessler isnt shit without a script which is why he reminds me of a robot. The funny thing is that he doesnt seem to have any social skills. He just doesnt know how to talk to people in an actual conversation since in some of the things I've seen him(E3 live or other specials) he goes off ranting while stuttering most of what he's trying to say while shaking his body around and having strange expressions on his face.
Mecha Sonic- 02-01-2008
That made me laugh really hard, when it shouldn't have.
Jedilink- 02-01-2008
Well whether they play the games or not, No More Heroes is awesome no matter what.

Agreed.

Do you truly believe that? I believe that it does matter if a reviewer plays a game or not. It's called journalistic integrity. Which is a concept that the video game industry doesn't seem to comprehend.
IMO, you would be singing an entirely different tune had Sessler gave NMH a 2 out of 5, and the main complaint that we would all be shouting is
"Sessler doesn't even play the games that he reviews."
That's the sad state of game critics, they only keep their jobs so long as their opinion reflects the public majority.
This rant isn't about NMH, what I am ranting about is how it is wrong for game critics/journalists to present themselves as playing a game that they may have never touched nor experienced. When so many publications publish disinformation it becomes harder to differentiate between the brown nosers from those who are actually sincere with their reviews.
There's many inconsistencies with Xplay's reporting which would lead one to believe that they do indeed use ghost writers.
I remember Xplay gave DDS 1 + 2 a combined score of 5 out of 5, yet they kept confusing the story & plot for DDS with some other game that they were playing, lol.
I haven't watched cable tv since 2006,
(We have satelite tv, I just rarely watch tv.)
but I remember seeing a shit load of other "mess ups" that go into their reporting.
Vision's post above also illustrates how Xplay obviously utilizes script writers.
Not that it matters anyway. I'm of the opinion that any info mongering shit that you see on tv. Is all useless.
Especially when it comes to videogames. (SPIKE awards)
I wonder who Xplay's ghost writers are anyway, because a lot of them have good taste in games.

Yeah I think there were some decent pople that worked at G4 at some point. There was this one show called Cinematech Nocturnal Emissions that showed trailers of all sorts of imports. Mainly D3 titles like Oneechanbara and Earth Defence Force. My favorite thing about the show, though, was that it didn't have a host. :)
Mecha Sonic- 02-03-2008
They still show it from time to time...
It kinda pisses me off when they show a really cool/funny scene, but don't tell you what game it's from!

I remember Matt, the ign nintendo editor, when he was reviewing zelda tp, he was complaining about it like the music, the same way of other zelda games, and he gave the game 9 (i think) and he said "Hey I gave a nine to it" like telling "don't be bs about it you stupid fans"
Poor editor from gamespot, zelda fans wanted to stone him *he is the same guy of the linky above, Jeff* He rated this game 8.8, it was not the bad but freaks are insane, I was one of those >.<, that sucks poor guy, I don't like matt he's a (censored)

Despite the rumors about Gamespot reviewers being Wii haters, I completely agree with that review.
Wouldn't be this way if both Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask never existed, but they do.
Seriously, the game is a total joke. monsters are pretty much braindead, bosses are easy (only one is funny despite the easiness), and most important, the unique element in this Zelda game (OoT had the ocarina, MM had masks, etc), the wolf, gets useless at some point.
After playing TP, I found Wind Waker more challenging.
Am I the only one that finds that newer Zelda games are easier than the previous ones?

Zelda TP has been the grea-*test*-('") delusion I ever had in my whole life. The storyline is damn easy and everything else is easyer and useless (you go around searching for goddamn bugs for incrase the wallet and all the other extra missions give you money, but there's no way to spend the money that you earn, I never bought even a potion, fishing is totally useless and easy as well, and the special fighting moves you learn are usless because almost every enemy dies with one or two hits, they're like martyrs who died against the invincible Link). Every item you get in the game is useful only for one dungeon (and every dungeon is easyer that the ones on the gbc zelda, in the dungeons you're more on rails than killer7), and then you forget that it existed. THe 99% of the map is useless, you use it just to passing by with the horse, and then you earn the power to teleport yourself, so hwy the fuck there are in the map so many empty spaces?! If the game sucks like that i don't care about music or graphics. It's zelda, and it's so goddamn easy and superficial that I feel stupid for having bought it! It makes non sense! It's the only zelda game I don't like. I like even Zelda II, but I hate, HATE, Zelda TP. I'm going to send a copy of the Killer7 comic at the developers. (PS: Zelda PH rocks)
BTW I think that No More Heroes is a pretty good game, despite the fact that it was trying to be gta. The only thing you can blame about it is the fact that santa destroy is totally empty, but, ehi, i never liked the useless free roaming of gta (go around, kill people and escape from the cops for no real reason really don't excites me), so i think I'm gonna like it. I generally hate every kind of review because most of the reviewers are so illitterate and fanboys that they write the fuck they want without even play the game for more than an hour. In the forum of the site that is considered the most important italian videogame site they said things like "NMH is probably the first good game of ghm".

I agree on everything you said about Zelda Xed.
I just finished it 3 days ago. Had a great time and it was really fun. There seems to be some magic, cant describe it really. Thats probably the thing that makes me ingore the flaws or dont actually get too deep involved.
that´s it
