SiCKO Yeah the Michael Moore film. I have seen numerous films of his. Whether you like his films or not is up to you but I say this, SiCKO is absolutely fantastic. If you live in the States (and I know most of us on here do), WATCH IT!
I was so moved by this film. I don't know how many people on here care about a movie about health care, but regardless, if you live in the states, you really NEED to see it soon.
This film is incredibly important. Why should a doctor refuse to treat a sick person for ANY reason? Well...watch the movie and find out why.
The US is in fact the only Western developed country that does NOT have universal health care. Why? Why should I have to pay like crazy instead of being able to go to a hospital and just be treated?
WATCH THIS MOVIE. I'm serious.

You left-wing liberals don't know a thing about healthcare, the fact is our medicare system is the grea-*test*-('") there is. Do you have any idea how many rich Canadians come to our country to get treated? They could see any doctor in their country, but they come to AMERICA. You want to have free healthcare like in Canada? Then you'd have to wait for treatment, how would you like that? In America, if you want to get an operation, all you have to do is lay down the money for the procedure, and they'll treat you right there. As long as you can pay for the treatment, you'll get treated, I can't think of anything more fair and balanced than that. Save your Marxist "share the wealth among the people" garbage for your commie kind. It's a matter of supply and demand, if everyone could afford to see the doctor, do you think it'd be as incredibly fast and efficient it is? You want our medicare system to be run by Castro, go to Cuba. Comrade.
And another thing, a Michael Moore movie? I'd be more likely to find the truth in the liberal media like CNN or MSNBC. Michael Moore hates America. Farenheit 9/11? More like FarenHYPE 9/11! If you hate this country, you can just get out! I'll buy you the ticket!
Damn Michael Moore luvin' libbies!
...if anyone needs me, I'll be off polishing the president's balls.

I hate when conservatives completely ignore someone because they disagree with him on a few things. It's like those 9/11 conspiracy videos. Sure their made by government hating anarchist kid's but you haft to admit the explosion happening before the plain hits and the FBI taking away the footage of the plane hitting the Pentagon are just to weird to shrug off despite who made it. All I want is people to admit that a little more is going on then what they first assumed. I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 and some of the stuff Roger pointed out were quit interesting. But of course all the Conservative pricks just ignore him completely even though he makes good points(Conservatives are real good at ignoring basic facts).
I agree with what Lisker said about Health care though. The only issue I'm having with it is their aren't enough ambulances and paramedics. They get paid like shit so no one wants to do the job. Doctors get paid so damn much more then paramedics even though their job is tougher in some ways. Two people died in my area recently because no ambulances were available to help them.

Ah, I take it this movie is preaching socialist values.

Actually the majority of the people here come from Europe, & South America.
It just seems that we're all from the U.S. because the main posters
(You, I, Lisk & Grave.) are all from the country of "Liberty & Freedom".
When K7 SIN first started out most of our posters were from Japan.
(They were guest accounts though. All of the posts & threads made by guest accounts have been systematically erased.
Ever since I disabled the guest account option awhile back.)

Oh yeah, don't bring up the fact that a woman who couldn't afford healthcare died in the emergency waiting room, or the fact that she was coughing up blood and everyone was ignoring her, or the fact that as she lay on the floor dying the janitor was sweeping around her, or the fact that the husband called 911 as she lay dying and they ignored him, or the fact that there wouldn't even be a waiting room for emergencies in hospitals for people with money. Because all that shit is just liberal propaganda.
And so what if doctors in this country make a ton of money and are more concerned with getting rich than helping their patients so they're putting people on medications from companies they own stock in? It's called capitalism!
Dalemushashi- 11-12-2007
I consider that to be malice. I don't give a shit if our country allows or endorses it. I'm not saying that we need to take away all the money from the rich,I'm just saying that a certain amount of wealth is extravagant. I don't have a problem with people having allot of money just people having too much power is what I don't like. Their are rich people out their who don't even pay taxes because they have so much pull. I think someone even said that little people only pay taxes once. So its not even like its balanced, they should get taxed out the ass.
Who needs more then 12 million dollars to live anyway, thats more then enough to retire with. It's pointless for a person to have more to their name then that.
Lisker- 11-12-2007
Some politicians want a flat tax, so we all pay the same, meaning rich people would pay even less.
Dalemushashi- 11-12-2007
Some politicians want a flat tax, so we all pay the same, meaning rich people would pay even less.
Wow some people just are never satisfied.
So that basically means that they'd pay the same as a lower income person?
Jedilink- 11-26-2007
Some politicians want a flat tax, so we all pay the same, meaning rich people would pay even less.
Rich people won't pay less, they'll pay exactly the same amount as me! And that's fair, since we all pay the same amount. It's like Communism...but messed up!
But seriously, I've stopped listening to politicians. They take money from lobbyists who only care about profits more than they care about the working man or helping better the human race in general. If I were a politician, I'd let them pay me all they want. My stance would remain the same, but hey if they want to just hand me money, it's cool.
There's a part in SiCKO where Moore anayses a shot of some politicians in DC and shows how much it took to buy them off. That was one of the most offensive parts of the film, not because of what it was saying but the fact that these ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE officials are taking money just so some jerkoff will change their stance on something, which will PROBABLY screw over the average American anyway!
Yeah, I think corruption is so DEEPLY rooted in politics today, that there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING one can do unless something insanely major happens. I mean, I'm being represented by Obama. I don't know what all he's done or hasn't done behind closed doors. I'm not saying he's horrible and corrupt because I don't know. But that's the problem. How would I know the person I elected isn't screwing me behind my own back?
Lisker- 11-26-2007
Steve Forbes was proposing a flat tax as his main platform when he ran for the presidency. Yes, Steve Forbes of Forbes Magazine, the reading material for rich people.
...yes, he ran as a republican. How'd you know that?
Just imagine how you'd feel if your representative was actually caught taking bribes(like Bob Ney, Duke Cunningham, William Jefferson, etc, etc, etc...), especially if you kept reelecting the douchebag every term until their arrest. You'd certainly look like a stupid fuck.
By the way, a funny thing I found...
http://www.beyonddelay.org/node/313
It's funny because this guy's running for president while he's being accused of these various crimes.
Jedilink- 12-02-2007
Wow...I don't understand how a RICH PERSON has the balls to tell me that everyone should have to pay the exact same in taxes as rich people. I also don't understand where they get off thinking that they can do corrupt things, take bribes, support megacorporations while keeping the common man down, and just any general debauchery they seem to be doing and not get introuble for it.
Oh yeah I forgot, because it's better for the authorities to leave these moneylovers alone and not deal with them. That's an insult to me, even if I have nothing to do with the whole thing. I mean, it's a kick right in the balls when I see the fact that Congress can give THEMSELVES a pay raise! They're basically their own bosses and since the make the rules, they like to make things better for them and worse for people who make much less than them (people like me).
I think if America would EDUCATE itself about the garbage that is going on and how Congress cares more about corporate money and greed than it does about the American people, then something might get done. But as long as Toby Keith is famous for his "Super Commando American" style songs, things are never going to be changed. I mean people NEED to realise already....AMERICA MESSED ITSELF UP!
Oh I got a letter from my Representative the other day about my letter to him on full healthcare for everyone, and he isn't on my side obviously. Well he knows who's vote he's not going to get anyway then. I'm sorry but once again, we live in the richest nation in the world. We shouldn't always be taught "me and mine", we should look to our futures and care for those who cannot do so themselves. I mean if I got cancer and my health insurance people rejected me because I'm not "of the correct age" to get cancer, I know I'd either be going to another country or I'd be doing something about it. I should not have to even THINK of dying whenever there's facilities that could EASILY fix my problem.
Ughs, this country is so messed up. *runs hands through hair and looks towards the ground*
Lisker- 12-02-2007
I wouldn't mind them supporting the rich so much if they would just say they did. Instead of claiming to be representing the working man, just admit your interests are in line with those of the wealthy. It's sort of like how they'll make laws and tax cuts that benefit big business, and when they talk about it, they go on about how it benefits...and this is the key...small businesses. The reason they don't want to raise the minimum wage to a decent amount a person can live on (even though that's what the minimum wage was created for, so that a person could make ends meet with what their job pays them) is of course because big corporations like Wal-Mart (a big supporter of the Republican party) that pay them with 'campaign contributions' benefit from it, but they claim to be doing it so they'll help small businesses. If you listen to how much they mention it, a lot of congressmen seem to have a serious hardon for small businesses. Even though lately I've been noticing small businesses closing down everywhere I look. Yet these proposals they make to benefit 'small businesses' just happens to coincidentally benefit their employers. No, by employers I don't mean us, the people who pay their saleries, I mean the people who bought them their second yacht. Of cours, getting back to my original point, the problem with them saying who they care about, or who they're supposed to represent, is because they can say anything they want, as politicians inherently lie. That's the reason all those debates and public speaches are useless in deciding who to vote for. The guy who says he's pro-life that loves children could be a the guy who proposes a bill that legalizes sewage being dumped on schoolgrounds. If they told the truth, elections would be incredibly easy, because you could just ask someone "do you ever intend to sell your vote in the future?", though if you did that now, everyone would think you're an idiot because you'd never get a 'yes' even if the majority of them will.
they like to make things better for them and worse for people who make much less than them (people like me)About a year ago congress made it harder to declare bankruptcy. That'll teach those bastards to be poor. Just wait for the return of debtor's prison.
Your last paragraph brings up a lot of good points. We live in the richest country in the world, yet more and more of that wealth is going to the same people, experts have been saying that in the last seven (SEVEN, think about it) years, the divide between the rich and the middle class has been widening, with more people in the middle class becoming lower class citizens. Though nobody who isn't a lower class citizen cares about them. Most Americans actually think the poor in this country are that way because of their own actions, and if they were to actually make an effort they'd be doing as well as them. And the whole "me and mine" concept is called capitalism by definition, looking out for your ends. Sharing is simply known as communism. In fact, back in the '50s, Robin Hood was banned as communist literature, because it had a guy stealing from the wealthy so he could give to the poor. That Fucker. The funny thing about it all is that this almost unanimously a Christian nation, and the two most basic concepts of Christianity, that which Jesus talked about all the time, was helping the less fortunate and being kind to your fellow man. And yet this is somehow a pro-war nation where the poor are ignored.
And if you think our medical system is messed up, you should hear about the woman who died in the emergency waiting room. I don't understand how an emergency room can even have a waiting room. But I know the woman and her husband didn't speak good English, so they were probably immigrants, meaning poor. So if this wasn't a hospital for the wealthy, so rich people don't need to worry. The woman was coughing up blood while waiting to see a doctor, and the staff was ignoring her. He called 911 saying she needed help, but the operator lectured him for calling when it wasn't an emergency since they were in a hospital. The truly ridiculous part is when she was lying on the floor, dying, and the janitor was just sweeping around her.
This is our healthcare system.

Michael Moore makes the best documentaries that you won't neva watch on big media broadcasting
