There's always time for fun. It's Friday night. The lines I've about to mention below made me think of something that I want to share my thoughts with you on.
"We've both become burdend with so much and we don't have time for fun anymore." - Harman
"There's always time for fun. It's Friday night" - Kun Lan
Now when I first heard these lines I thought about our typical work structure as human beings. Most jobs you work Monday to Friday from 9 AM - 5 or 6 PM. Friday's is the begining of your weekend and most people celebrate by going out to dinner, dancing, drinking or all the above.
What I trying to say about this is that as we get older it seems we associate our Friday's (and the rest of the weekend) as a time to as Harman puts it 'time for fun'.
I realize this does not apply to everyone but I'm talking about most major cities where you have to worry about paying the rent.
I feel sometimes with some of my friends that hanging out at thier house or going out to have a few drinks is the 'adult way to have fun'.
I remember when I was little going out to the park (I'm only 26 years old not some old guy) when a bunch of us either played tag, or cops and robbers, went swimming, hide and go seek, baseball, or best of all was when we invented our own games and just explored.
I wish that when we get older that some people remembered how much fun it was to 'play' what I mentioned above.
Instead of just complaining I suggest for anyone who is interested in trying to bring back that old feeling you had by watching the following movies:
"The Quest or Frog Dreaming or The Go Kids". A great film that explores this idea further. It is only on vhs or like I did I d/l a torrent of the video.
"The Goonies" Classic movie that gives you a real sense that they really had fun not only working on this film but in the acting department it made me feel like they really did grow up together.
"Cloak and Dagger" Explores the idea of a kid who wants a real life adventure but once he gets it he realizes it was not exactly what he wanted.
"The Dog Who Stopped The War" - Got my DVD off ebay. A great Christmas movie that is all about having a huge snowball fight and snow castles and other fun things like that. Classic!
I'm sure there are other great films but those four is what comes to my mind.
Maybe I just don't want to grow up. In some ways I don't as I don't want to lose these types of feelings.
Feel free to add your comments and other suggestions of films that you remember watching as a kid that reminded you of how much fun you used to have or exploring the ideas I'm talking about.

I TOTALLY understand how you feel. I get down about work a lot too but I STILL refuse to let myself get down about life.
When I worked at Cracker Barrel there was a guy there who was...at least late 40's or so. He said that he was going to clean dishes till he retired and then it was all about the Government Cheese from then on....wha!?!?!? How can you allow your life to be based on that!?!?!? Don't you want to DO something with your life!? Don't you want to ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING?!?!?!?
I have high aspirations, not because I want fame and fortune so much. As long as I'm able to easily provide for myself I'm good, but I just want to be remembered. I want people to see my picture or hear something I've done and say that was ME who did that. It's a little vain...but I don't want to be some random 1324 AD peasant or something you know? I want people to know me. To remember me and appreciate what I've done with myself and what good I brought to the world...
I'll never change my aspirations either. I can't. I CANNOT just live a life of mediocrity....besides, people who can't come up with something better than, "LET'S GET TORE UP!" to do....well they're losers and boring anyway. ;)

as a musician, most people think I just want fame and forune.
Nah. i like to put the music out there and get a response, be it negative or positive. feed backs gereat, cuz theres always room for improvement.
just to see the people who like my MUSIC, not the facade or the bands image. thats my goal.
jedi, pretty much the majority of people i know are like the cracker barrel guy. its all about the money. but can you blame them? having been raised, and taught like that his entire life, hes doing what comes naturally.
the dudes probably tired of his same old life, but he thinks theres nothin he can do to change it, just do what comes naturally; work , retire, die.
