Ok so the Quickgirl thing is in Vermillion Pleasure Night Vol. 2? I've only seen a couple clips from youtube (they don't have much of anything from the show sadly. What I DID see however looked pretty sweetness! :D:D:D:D And I don't know how big the Fuccon family was in Japan or anything but they were pretty funny....but then again ANYTHING can become lame if too many people drone on and on about it though (Pirates of the Caribbean I'm looking RIGHT at you!!!!!!!). I do however really want to see Quickgirl now. From the short little bits in the trailers for VPN, it looks pretty sweet.
If there's a place I could see it before I buy anything though, I'd appreciate it! ;)
BobTheDarkOne- 09-11-2006
Is that Miri hanai?
Anyway now i gotta see that Quickgirl thing.
True Grave- 09-11-2006
Look, VPN vol. 2 is only $15. I mean its alot if you are just buying Quickgirl, but honestly you'll enjoy the other stuff like I did, and end up buying the first and third volumes (when the 3rd one comes out that is).
Its like making a very smart investment. VPN is one series that you can watch over and over again.
Jedilink- 09-12-2006
The girl is named Reon Kadena. YES. I know it's her cuz I've already asked before. :P And the short parts of Quickgirl looked pretty sweet. I feel like a dork though because recently they got a 2 disc set of the original Gojira film on DVD at Wal-Mart and when I get some money I'm am gonna get that. It's got the original Japanese film as well as the redo of sorts for American audiences with Raymond Burr in it. :P I thought it was actually a Criterion set because of how nice the packaging for it is but it only said Toho on it so I'm glad that other companies will put out high quality DVD packages that aren't expensive (cuz Criterion IS expensive....which might explain why I don't have any Criterion discs...even though I always love the films). This one is only 15 bucks so when I get paid I think I'm gonna skim a little off the top and snatch that up! ^_^
I want to get VPN because it looks really crazy like I like em but I never have money or when I do I always am intent on getting something else. :P Eventually everything I want comes to the forefront at some point and I get it though. :P I'll maybe get it eventually.....I just wish I had more money because then I wouldn't have this problem ALL THE TIME!!!! UGHS!!! The man is always keepin me down!

A few weeks ago I was at Best Buy. I was looking through the DVD's when all of a sudden I found.....VERMILLION PLEASURE NIGHT VOL.2!!!!!! :D:D:D:D Oddly enough it was in the Anime section (?) and was thankfully only 9 bucks! :D I got it (along with a Christmas present for my mom) and I have now seen Quickgirl. I love that the end is a game show though.
The funny thing is that the first time I watched it I couldn't figure out why it was a Killer7 homage. Then a bit afterwards I remembered....OH YEAH!!! Linda Vermillion!!!!!!!! DUH!!!!!!!!!!! (How this escaped me, I'll never know :P) I liked that this was a hard action segment more like a short action film...but it was part of a TV show!!! :D They would never have a cool short like this on a tv show here!
However, I love how the ending is. It's great. :D It's just something that got me thinking, and if a tv show can get me thinking about stuff, then it can't be too bad. :P I wasn't too hot on Episode 3 but Episode 4 was much funnier. I liked em both ok though. If the other VPN discs are only 9 bucks, I WANTS THEM!!!!
True Grave- 12-18-2006
Well VPN DVD vol.3 does exist. But my Best Buy has yet to stock it. And you only paid 9 bucks? Sweet I had to shell out $15 clams.
But a vol. 1 does exist and I found it quite hilarious. Also the Fuccon family has their own DVD vols. also if you are interested.
Jedilink- 12-18-2006
Yeah I knew the Fuccons had a separate tv show they ended up having. That'd be pretty funny but I'd still like to see some more VPN too. :) And I'm guessing it might've been kinda marked down since it'd probably been there a while or something. Sometimes a store will do that. It'll be lower in one place and higher in another since it's been sitting there longer.

Actually it's the other way around Killer 7 is the homage to Quick Girl.
(Quick Girl debuted back in 2001/2002 I was living in Japan when I saw this skit.)
Linda Vermilion her self is a homage to Meiko Kaji.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Meiko+kaji
(Although Linda's surname & wardrobe also looks like a direct reference to VPN.)
http://images.google.co.jp/images?hl=ja&q=%E6%A2%B6%E8%8A%BD%E8%A1%A3%E5%AD%90&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=ni
(Just keep turning the pages, you'll eventually see some Meiko pics that look exactly like Linda Vermilion.)
Meiko is the actress who played the role of the living embodiment of vengeance & rage,Convict Scorpion.
Mary in Quick girl is also a homage to Meiko Kaji's Convict Scorpion.
Killer 7 basically pays tribute & homage
to several hitman related IP in Japan.
I only chose to cover Quick girl specificly, because K7 ripped off/payed the most homage to Quick girl.
The only popular Japanese hitman IP that seems to be missing from Killer 7 IMO is Golgo 13. (Prolly because they already have a sniper, Linda.)
I can't believe you didn't notice the scenes when that crazy Lina chick scanned the mall for hidden threats.
(All hidden threats are individuals that are secretly armed with a gun.)
Everytime the subtle static sound filled the screen, Lina was actually using her scan ability.
(Garcian Smith)
Lina died, because she was surrounded by static (Armed gunmen/women)
It's the same as Garcian dieing because he was surrounded by maniacal laughter. (Heaven smiles)
Practicly the whole Quick girl skit could've been used as a source of inspiration for Killer 7.
Even the soundtack was K7ish.
I'm planning to upload the Quick Girl skit to K7 SIN whenever I find a copy of the damn dvd.
(I can't find it anywhere.)
True Grave- 12-21-2006
I guess you can just try ADV's site?
Yeah I so caught on to the scanner thing in Quick Girl. I was freaking out when I first saw it, "ITS LIKE A K7 MOVIE!" type stuff.
By the way Topdrunkee, did you know that Bob Sapp was a character in Miike Takashi's IZO? Which is Bob's first true movie apperance? Aw man was he awsome in IZO.
YOU GOTTA SEE IZO!
Jedilink- 12-22-2006
No I knew that VPN was out before K7. I knew that, I just wasn't seeing it...but I've only watched it twice. :P I will again though soon! Especially now!! Haha! :D Gots to see it! O_o

Anyway now i gotta see that Quickgirl thing.
The .Gif came from this film

At first I was like, Who the hell is Miri Hanai?
Hmm, not bad, not bad at all... Not as pretty as Kadena, but than again not many are.
I still haven't copped a copy of VPN VOl. 2., and I need that Quick Girl clip for this site.
Since it was one of the first shows that I thought of when I first played Killer 7.
(I guess I'll try to record my VHS Quick Girl footage through my webcam, lol.)
True Grave- 08-03-2007
Dude, I'll rip it for you. I got Vol. 2 anyway.
Sal- 08-04-2007
