Videogames as gifts!
So now I have friends... friends with similar gaming tastes to me. Thing is, this now means that when they have birthdays, I have to buy them presents. Don't get me wrong, I think it's kind of cool that I can finally go out and browse for games for other people. Anyway, a guy I know is having a party in about two weeks time. (Same guy I persuaded to play killer7.) I'm thinking of buying him God Hand, but I figure I need a backup plan as well. Go on, SINdicate. Shout ideas at me. Let's pretend he has played a whole bunch of games, but he doesn't actually own any.

I reommended one of my friends God Hand... I know that game is somewhat of a "love it or hate it" but after he played it for a while he literally broke it in two because he didnt like it ("enemies are all the same" and such) Did he already played Resident Evil 4? if not then get him that.

Why you don't try with something more "friendly", I haven't lurking enough to know how many Beat em ups are on the PS2, but you could try with Urban Reign or something like Devil May Cry.

If Ferlanga knew someone who actually broke GOd Hand, because the game pissed him off. Then I'd have to say that Urban Reign is one of the last titles that I recommend due to it being a harder game than God Hand in general. (Urban Reign is one of my favorite games period, but I'm in the minority. ALmost all of the review sites gave UR a low rating, because Urban Reign kept kicking their ass.) I second the DMC suggestion though. More specifically the grea-*test*-('") hits compilation. If he's a casual gamer than I suggest Warriors Orochi 2 http://warriorsorochi.co.uk/ which is coming out next month. IMO, the warriors games are the best games to go with for most casual/non serious gamers. They're (way too) easy to pick up & play, and they make good party games. If you want a co-op game that can easily pass the time, than warriors games are where it's at. They're nothing more than level grind hack n slash fan service games. If all else fails you could always go with a sure thing like Soul Calibur 4, (Or SC 2, & SC 3 depending on what systems he owns.)

Good call on DMC, I think. He's expressed interest, but getting the games over here is a bitch now. Not to mention they're still pretty pricey. If he's a casual gamer Oh my, no. He is most certainly not a casual gamer. He chops casuals up and puts them in his cereal. You could always get him Final Fantasy XII anniversary edition. I saw Devil May Cry at Gamestop for $5.

Mind you, probably the fact God Hand was a pirate copy (like 95% of the PS2 games in south america) helped in my friend's decision of breaking the game (really cheap cost)

driver parallel lines is a great game lol I like it better than gta is is like more realistic and the gameplay is better, the gameplay in gta 4 feels all fake as anyother gta .........

Whoa, I forgot about this thread. Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I ended up getting him God Hand. Despite my paranoia that someone else would buy it for him, I was the only one who bought him a videogame. (Which was weird, considering how much he loves them.) But he loves God Hand. Says it's turning him into a REAL MAN!
