Now, I always thought that the puzzles of Killer7 could be like the ones found in the viridian room games:
It's even the same style of art, If only they put this kind of puzzles to the game... These games are freaking cool, go here if you never play it:

I mostly see Killer7 like an adventure game with some interactive elements though, I don't see it like an actual on rails shooter game, but if they tried to make the game this way, they failed so hard.I mostly see Killer7 like an adventure game with some interactive elements though, I don't see it like an actual on rails shooter game, but if they tried to make the game this way, they failed so hard.I think you're spot on. The actual navigation system in K7 is ripped from Silver Case. (Except you actually used the d-pad & analog to walk, & the shoulder buttons to run. K7 forces you to use that button in order to walk, lol.) The gun play in K7 was ripped off from Hideo Kojima's Policenauts. Even the reloading felt similar. IMO, K7 would've been a far better game had they kept the battles short & brief like Policenauts. In Policenauts the battles only occur if it's story related, and when the battles actually happen it's some kickass twitch gaming shit. Where you have to kill everybody before they duck & cover. K7 felt slow & plodding by comparison.
I came into conclusion that the gameplay of Killer7 was intentionally made bad,IMO, Suda just doesn't understand how to make a game that isn't an adventure game. Out of every game I played that was by him. The ones that were unbearable were the games that actually had a semblance of game play. I tend to enjoy FSR & SC the most. (I'm like Moonlight Syndrome so far as well, but I haven't finished it yet.) The reason for this is because those games were all about the story, atmosphere & overall art direction. They don't need gameplay to be good, because their's barely any. ADV games as a genre aren't expected to have gameplay either. In Japan it's mostly his adv games that get raved on about. (Even Hideo Kojima knows Suda for his adv games, but doesn't acknowledge suda for much else.)
I'm one of the five people on earth that like Killer7's gameplay.I didn't have a problem with the way the game controlled. What bothered moi was how shitty the actual gameplay experience was. You watch all these early beta K7 trailers, & you come off with the impression that K7 is going to be some frantic arcade type of shit. (Like RE 4.) When you actually play the game it;s some slow ass Pre RE 4 ish, but with slightly more fluid controls. Now what got to me was how you end up spending more time in the loading static screens than you do with the actual game. I also hated how all the smiles were so damn easy to kill. The only fun battles imo are the ones against the harvester smile. That shit truly felt like a light gun game. I'd probably would've found K7 more enjoyable had it played more like a on rails shooter. (I still want to be able to control my rails. I just wish there was shit flying at me everywhere like Panzer Dragoon.)
