Who killed Dan, again?
Pardon my ignorance, but I'm kinda confused as to who killed Dan. Was it Curtis, or was it Emir? Did I miss something somewhere?

It's best to not pay literal attention to the events of the game, because that shit just doesn't make any sense. No matter how you try to cut it. I usually look at the symbolism, & metaphors instead. Killer 7 works more as a cipher for transplanting themes & ideas into your head, and making you think long & hard about what you just experienced. As for who killed Dan Smith, officially it's supposed to be Curtis Blackburn. Which is more preferable, imo. Although we later find out that Emir did him in?(O_O)/ I'm not even going to bother trying to rationalize that. It defies coherence. The only logic that I could subscribe to this is that K7 was originally supposed a be bigger, more detailed plot that spanned several generations like the Silver Case. Suda had to eventually scrap most of that & what we're left with is what he & Mikami managed to salvage. It seems that when Suda planed Target Encounter. It seemed that he wanted to do some what of an allegorical remake of Sumio's Parade case from the Silver Case. Killer 7 seems to recreate a lot of events from Suda's silver case game. Except SC actually makes sense whereas K7 is all over the place, due to time constraints & most of the original plot being cut out.

Too bad the game has some cut out material, the 2003 trailer show some scenes when Dan meet Curtis in a office with a large table and some vitrals, then in another scene he crushed Curtis head with his foot. I think "Encounter" was supposed to spawn more than 2 chapters, the third was the final showdown with Curtis, in that building. And what about that scene from the Hand in Killer7, when Garcian and Mills meet Dan in some Highway, that would be some kind of flashback? a scene on "encounter? or before the first chapter?.

I KILLED HIM

It's comical how fucked up Curtis gets in the early versions. I wished we could of gotten the "true" version of Killer7.

Okay, after some research, I learned that Curtis didn't actually kill Dan, but HAD him killed, so Curtis might have hired Emir to kill Dan, which causes it all to make sense, which I don't think is supposed to happen. Somebody mess up this theory, quick!!!

It's clarely said that Curtis shot Dan. You can just assume that Dan didn't die when Curtis shot him.

Somebody mess up this theory, quick!!! Pedro had Curtis kill Dan, but other than that, it's all Curtis and Dan. I don't think he would even be in contact with Emir anyway. As said earlier, the original story was chopped up for the final version of Killer7. The early version/Hand in Killer 7 story made sense. The timeline in HIK 7 had Curtis killing Dan in 1975, then Garcian recovering his body. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/Yuan00/prototypekiller.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a235/Yuan00/prototypekiller1.jpg The early version was following this somewhat; Curtis kills Dan, Garcian finds his body. The differences being it's not on a basketball court and it probably isn't 1975. There was a a coherent story at one point.

Look here, It's Dan Smith & Sundance Shot. Man, I wonder how the hell Suda was planning to explain that one. (Sundance gets arrested at the end of "Flower Sun & Rain".) Although that Dan Smith scene most likely occurred during the 70's, 60's back when Sundance was still a politician. I remember reading a Japanese site that went on & on about how the "mysterious guy" looked cooler than Dan Smith. Mysterious guy refers to Sundance. Although at this website, "mysterious guy" refers to the Jaco/Kosaka guy that Dcat posted. forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1119" target="_blank">http://killer7.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=1119 Or at least it will. Once I get around to posting up a speculatory page about this unknown guy. Too bad nobody knows the real reason that Sundance was cut from the game. I'm guessing it's because Sundance was one of the more integral characters from FSR & the Silver Case games. We wouldn't know what's so significant about him, because FSR & the SC games have never been ported over. (He only appeared in FSR, but he has so much influence that a lot of events in the earlier Suda games are direct after effects of what Sundance's assassin did during the night of the Silver Case murders.) I remember when I beat FSR, I had no idea what was so special about the Tetsuguro guy until after I played SC. It's this interconnectivity of Suda's games that attracts me to his unique surrealist setting. Too bad it seemed to stop with SC 25 Ward. The other related titles are Moonlight Syndrome: The prolouge Silver Case: The main setting Flower Sun & Rain: Side story about Sumio Kodai, Tokio Morishima, The Kusabis, & Sundance Shot Killer 7: ? Who knows, but it's pretty obvious that it was supposed to be related to the other games. Silver Case 25 Ward: A continuation of the main setting.
