I mean I can understand why everyone thinks they suck now, but why were they popular before the whole lip-synching thing was revealed? I've heard it was the typical case of music 'artists' putting their looks before talent, but...come on. There were women freaking out over this?

I'm kinda with you on this one man.... If a woman liked....THAT then they don't enjoy relations with actual human beings. I think they prefer aliens or....animals or something. I mean come on, are dreads EVER sexy? I think not.....except for maybe the twins in the Matrix Reloaded...I like women but those dudes looked frickin awesome! :P HAHA! Plus, good music should go further than "cuteness" anyway. And when it comes to American Pop music, there isn't much goodness to be found....like pretty much EVER...................EVER. :P
