So you know, I was pretty silent lately. I am always fiddling with soft / hardware in some unusual way. And today I tried to get Killer 7 to run on my pc in an emulator, and it fucking works. There is a huge bug that makes it unplayable for now, but my hope is the emu devs gonna fix it soon ( I am trying to help them with some files of mine right now..soo maybe some day you can thank me ;) )
The only thing that doesnt work propely is that you cant shoot the smiles, it goes thru them. But thats it, only some sound issues might appear. Either way, I would like to share the screenshots I have done, cause I find them very very sexy in a nerdy way.
Such a quality ! I just want to play it again
but check out yourself..here is a small cookie before you click

(the gargabe you might see at the bottom is only in the screenshots, its all good ingame )
I even managed to get a 3d Model of Coyote
http://i27.tinypic.com/2w3yjc5.jpg
This, gentlemen, is huge. Let me explain in what kind of way.
My original plan was to make myself a k7 wallaper. But with models you can do more( with a little cleaning work). I think I can get any model out of the game and let them pose as I wish. This isnt huge huh? Two words - 3d printing
http://www.shapeways.com/
Yes, I could "print" this out, and have a real unique k7 action figure
I havent tried "shapeway" yet cause of finacial reasons, but this will happen some day.
That it's so far...keep in mind its 4 am right now.. so I am a bit euphoric |

Any idea how the PS2 version performs on an emulator?
About model ripping, have you tried "directX ripper"? I think that is the most used program for ripping models.

Did you had to tweak anything before you take the picture? like fixing misaligned textures?
Im trying to rip some stuff from N64 games, but im using a plugin and im not sure if theres a better way to do it. |

From my old experience with a ps2 emu, it should run fine, but I havent tried it with my new pc yet.
About the model ripping - its quite hard to do this !
The Emulator and its plugins doesnt world properly with the 3d rippers. I dont know about the pcsx2 now, but some tests last year showed me 2D plane garbage without a z depth. I have read about the stuff a bit and people say it has something todo with the way the 3d renderer put the image out - the word " overlay" was used so the rippers couldn't get the data.
There is an openGL ripper that doesnt work with dolphin, and the dx plugin of dolphin isnt quite working with killer7 and dolphin itself.
For the shot I took right now I used
-Dolphin SVN R 3869 64 bit
-3DVIA Printscreen 2.3
-3dsMaxConvertXml - HERE! 2008.11.25
-3dsmax 2009
I captured the scene with 3dvia printscreen and converted it to 3dsMax

I had to pull away the other stuff, clean it up a bit. I had to flip the normals for some objects ( like the face ) otehrwise you cant see / render anything.
I have to try a bit more, maybe I try the ps2 version and rip something more cleaner. I could clean/fix coyote and rig him but thats some work.
( but I would do it anyway if nothing else works xD )

Yeah that would be nice, I've read about that too. Unfortunatly there is no plugin nor option in the ps2 or the dolphin emu to dump the objects right into a folder. That would be much nicer, the model would be clear and probably with less random glitches
I am curious if I can fake the cellshading look with a renderer that looks similar to ingame. I haven't tried it yet but I am gonna try it soon after I got all important characters out of the game
damn almost 5 am..
oh and a Curtis 3d model in gta 4 or some shooter would be greaaat. I would love to drive over him and beat the shit out of the fuckor xD
Does anybody has information about the NMH models and how they got ripped? cause the cube and the wii are pretty similar, maybe there exist some tools to extract the NMH that work with Killer 7, wouldn't suprise me.
I am gonna try pcsx2 tomorrow ;)
stay tuned |

The bastard at gamefaqs didnt share the model nor explain any shit about the process.
Only thing that coyote model needs is smoothing.
Its a shit I learned to use milkshape instead of 3Dmax |

Yeah I heard the Gamecube version of the game actually has better textures than the PS2 version (I have it on GC).
And as for the 3D modeling, that'd be awesome. There was a blood red Dan Smith figure a couple years ago. I was going to get it but I couldn't get the money. I'd like a dangling Iwazaru. Maybe hang him from my mirror or something. Haha. Or as the piece you pull on for the ceiling fan. If I had one of those old toilets he could be on the end of the chain you pull. Haha.
Those screens look killer. There's a little bit of jaggies but overall they look fantastic. Too bad my laptop is so crappy it doesn't even have a DVD drive otherwise I'd try this out. |

The dangling Iwazaru made me laugh xD Good Idea jedilink
Well I haven't played much more with the dolphin yet, nor with the ps2 emu ( but in the next 3 hours I will ;D )
I tried to fix Coyotes face it took me about 6+ hours xD The problem lies in the way it's captured. It's not one big object, the face has 200+ loose shapes that aren't connected to each other. You can normaly connect / weld the shapes together but of course there had to be a huuugeee problem. There mesh is full of unneeded double sided shapes and loose vertexes. So you have to get rid of them first, otherwise you connect crap together. I can assure you, its a hell of a job, so I need to think about a method to make that easy ( or capture the scene better, in pcsx2 maybe?! )
Ferlanga, for you (or anybody that is interested in the models or some textures), I uplaoded the captured Coyote model with the textures. I exportet it to 3ds but without the texture coordinates. I know that milkshape is very powerful but I dont know what kind of formats it can import, so if you want more just tell me.
http://www.sal4.de/new/killer7/coyote_quickclean_3ds.rar
The textures themself are fun too. Like Coyotes tatoo for a real extrem coyote fan The gun looks nice too, you can take a closer look here
The results vary alot, depends on how I render it, with a toon shader, cheap-ass fall off maps- but working great..or even HDRI. lol somethimes it doesnt look like Coyote anymore. Have to tweak that to get to the ultimate k7 look. ( last pic is the clostest for now )
enuff of this shite. I need to get KAEDE ..uhuhu with all these nice costumes and Yoon-Hyun!
This gonna be alots of work
thats it so far |

Yeah, if you can do something about the shooting parts in dolphin, it would be great! |

There is a fix for the shooting part by now, but it crashes at the first angel boss with an exception error sadly
you can get the latest unoffical versions here
http://forums.dolphin-emu.com/thread-2332.html?highlight=Orleans
there are different releases by different guys, but they are often very similar
the bgm plays fine for now |

I made some screenshots with a free mode hack in the Dolphin openGL plugin
so you can fly around in every scene, every moment, you want to ;D
So you might know the scene but its shot from a new angle
Here is a "for the lolz" screenshot-video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpYtWDRmf7E
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wpYtWDRmf7E&hl=de&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wpYtWDRmf7E&hl=de&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
preview screens and the full pack for any purposes you want them too ;D
